1 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2002 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 08/06/2014

Good morning, I have a 2002 Dodge Neon that I have put money into and I have experienced dishonesty from mechanics until now; paying lots of money to fix a problem that cannot be fixed. I was informed last week that this leak on my car cannot be fixed because its a manufacturer problem. Apparently, this is a problem with all Neon's. Its a fluid leak of oil. A recommended mechanic diagnosed my car and informed me of this news. He said that the sealant is gone and cannot be repaired by any mechanic. What happens now? because this problem cannot be fixed and I'm not in a position to purchase a vehicle, is there a recall to repair this problem? I also had to disassemble my radio because after replacing my battery, the electrical fuse was replaced several times along with the alternator because the radio played after the car was turned off and would kill my battery.

2 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2003 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 03/28/2011

I have been having problem with my car for about 6 months. One of the problems were my high beams will operate but my low beams wouldnt. Now my high beams will operate but I am unable to switch to my low beams. The second problem is with my battery dying several times which resulted in getting a jump from another car. I end up having a battery and alternator replaced on my car last year between Nov/Dec 2010. Just recently I noticed smoke coming from my steering column located near the steering wheel and the smell of something burning. This happen while I was driving. My car didn't start Monday 3-28-11 morning so I had it towed to the dealership where I bought the car from. The mechanic had to replace the battery. They ran a diagnostic on the car but no readings regarding electrical problems. The important question pertains to what is draining the battery.

5 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2000 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 11/30/2005

The car idles very high and then accelerates to higher speeds without touching the accelerator pedal. There is a high acceleration boosts and spurts when first accelerating from a stopped position, causing car to lunge forward at high speeds. The car refuses to start when not used daily, such as a problem with the starter or the alternator, but no problems have been found with either parts upon inspections by a mechanic. Front axles pop when turning. Key is hard to disengage or remove from the ignition. Brakes are constantly squealing and wear every 3-6 months regardless f how the car is driven. Though it may or not be a problem for some, the fold down seats in the rear seat do not have a disengage lever from the trunk. Over-head dome light does not function properly and has faulty wiring, so that even though all doors are closed the dome light never shuts off. There is constantly a fuse light that flashes in my dash, though all fuses have been checked numerous times and all are in perfect working order, though they have been replaced, the warning light still flashes. The utility outlet/cigarette lighter outlet doesn't and has not ever worked since the car was bought in 2004. Fuses have been replaced multiple times, but the problem still has not been fixed. Water leaks in from rain or windshield wipers causing musty odor in the car. Car constantly over-heats during travel over 35-40 miles and leaks anti-freeze, though no leaks or pin holes of any kind could be found. Trunk sticks making it hard to open or disengage, caused key to be broken off inside the trunk lock.

10 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 1997 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 11/03/1999

My sister in TN has a Neon the dealer fixed her head gasket these cars I have been told by one auto repair that he fixes these head gaskets at least one every other week Dodge should have done a recall or at least fix the problem I can not get any one on the phone at Chrysler and I live here. They should pay the cost they know that its a problem. The up and down stream sensors went bad it cost me $300. To fix. I know a gentleman that had the same problem his went bad twice and the car dealer paid for his. I on the other hand could get no one help with this either. Chrysler needs to be accountable for the problems with there Neon's and pay to correct these problems I will not buy another one. If Chrysler wants me to buy there product again they need to make the first one right. Thank you for your time and concern.

11 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 1998 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 08/23/1999

Being that this is a new car I did not expect that the head gasket would go. Upon talking to service repair advisors at my local dealer they informed me that this has been common for the Neons. They have seen defective gaskets, but the Chrysler corp. Has not yet notified or sent out a recall notice for this. My car also experienced several elecrtical anomolies as I was told. The check engine light came on repeatedly and no codes were found that signified a problem so the service man just kept reseting the light. This of course was not acceptable for me, so I had them replace the sending unit to the light(computer control unit). Unfortunetly the problem persists(4 attempts at repairs have been made). I have found no resolve for my problem, thus I contact you. Hoping for any advice or help this may provide.

14 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 1997 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 03/25/1999

Help ! it was just seven months ago I purchase a 1997 Neon. I was so happy, I was going to be driving a fairly decent car. It was 1998 and I was going to be driving a 1997. With a/c even. Ha. Ha. Ha. Needless to say I didn't know three weeks later I would be putting in a new transmission. Car in the shop for two weeks waiting on a part they had to order. Boy did that put a sour taste in my mouth. I called Chrysler and wanted to give the car back. I no longer wanted the car. I knew then I would not have nothing but problems after that. Well you know they said no. Good thing I had the 1595. 00 exteded serv. Contract I got the problem fix free . Well not really free it cost me 1595. 00 for the warranty and fifty dollars everytime you have to put your car in the shop. I only had 30. 000. 00 miles and already needed it a transmission? hmmmm. In December we had a recall on the car. In Jan. 1999 I started having electrical failure. In Feb. 1999 my check engine light started coming on. Also in Feb. I turn on my air conditing to find out it doesn't work. It was blowing out hot air. I call Chrysler and they told me to bring it in. It was going to cost me the $50. Which I didn't think that was fair, being I just purchase the car in Nov. 1998. In Mar. 12th I took my car in for brake inspection becuase I was having some problems when I would step on the brake pedal to stop the car, the brakes make noise like grinding metal to metal. My front brake pads were worn out, which they said had ruined the front rotors. And they recommend replacing rotors and d pads. They said the veh. Was not safe to drive in current condition. Well they wanted to chg. Me over $300. 00 and I just didn't trust them any more so my dad did the job for $100. 00. M y extended serv. Contract did not cover the brakes. I feel like I have a lemon for a car. I don't think this car is safe to drive there is all way something wrong with it. And it is putting a hole in my pocket. So much for a newer car so you can have few.
