Spark plug wires on a new Dodge Neon 2. 4 become burnt (cracked, brittle and ashy white) from its turbo heat of this over time. A better heat range wires/redesign would correct this problem. Many consumers have had problems with this defect and could cause a fire in the engine compartment.

When driving in heavy rain, or driving through several puddles, car begins to grind and becomes difficult to maneuver. It seems to lose power as well, as going up a hill is a struggle with the car in this condition. This has caused many near miss incidents with other vehicles. Dealership tried to stimulate the problem when I reported it (while still under warrantee) but were unable to recreate the problem or to resolve the problem. The second, less serious problem, safetywise, is the massive oil leak from the head. The car requires 1 to 2 quarts of oil at every gasoline fillup. This could conceivably, if went unchecked cause engine failure and loss of vehicle control.
While driving vehicle hesitates and will not pick up speed, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
Vehicle has been doing this problem since the day I purchased it. I am tired of taking it to the dealer and they not fixing. Service manager told me that there was in fact a problem, but because the computer isn't registering any codes, they can't fix it. He told me he wanted the car to "die. " I personally do not want it to die because it is dangerous!! the engine completely cut out on me when I was going 65 mph and has also done so at a stop. The vehicle stumbles and hesitates at accelaration between gears and then will cut out with no prior warning except a slight shaking of the vehicle. The dealership (ourisman Dodge) keeps telling me that they can't fix it until the computer registers. . . Well, that may be too late.
