1 Battery problem of the 2003 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 09/20/2009

I own a 2003 Dodge Neon that just shuts off while driving on a few occasions. I have read numerous blogs and such of others having the same problems. Without warning the car shuts down with a complete loss of power. Nothing electrical will work. I have had the car checked out and no problems can be found, no codes on the computer. When it does shut down it will not restart until I move the wires at the battery. Upon inspecting the battery wires they show no signs of wear, corrosion, being loose or anything of that sort. Upon testing the wires for a short found none to exist. The mechanics and dealerships claim there is no problem. Diagnostic computers find no problems. On three occasion thus far we have been in near accident situations, driving along and the car shuts down, and comes to an unexpected quick stop and with a loss of all power that may result in a fatal accident in the future. Cars driving behind me have no warning that I'm coming to a complete stop in the middle of the road sometimes unable to pull off the road to a safe area to come to a stop. As mentioned it seems to be a common problem with this car not only of this year but others as well. There should be a recall of some sort before someone dies if that already has not happened.

2 Battery problem of the 2002 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 08/24/2007

I have a 2002 Dodge Neon. In the first year I had the car I had the typical car problems but nothing too major. I have replaced the battery 6 times in the car, since purchase. In may of 2006, is when the problems began rolling in. My main computer had died in the car, a $900 repair. After contacting Dodge to get a new computer to put in the car, I had to wait for 7 months for it to be shipped, due to such a large back order. And the computer was only shipped after Dodge was called and I had threatened to contact the better business bureau. The day I had picked up the car from getting the computer installed, my radiator and transmission went out. So I had to repair both of them. Only a few weeks later the car was yet again in the shop for yet another transmission problem. The check engine light is now back on, upon having the computer code hooked up to the car, I have learned that there is a transaxle control system failure and an incorrect gear ratio condition in 2nd and 3rd gear. The car will not go above 45 mph. When I start it and put it in drive it takes a few minutes for the car to recognize that its in the drive gear and when it finally does go into drive the entire car jerks. It will do that for several minutes. This will now be the 8th time from December, 07 to August, 07 that I have had to make repairs to the transmission. My car is only 5 years old, there is no reason on why I should be having so many problems. I have taken care of my car and it has received the proper maintenance. I have put more then $9000 in the car since purchase, having to go as far as to have a family member take out a second mortgage on their home to pay for the repairs. After looking up complaints online, I have found numerous complaints about transmission problems, why has this not been recalled?? why is it that the only recall on the Neon is the lighting system??.

6 Battery problem of the 2003 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 11/11/2002

I have a 2003 Dodge Neon that I bought brand new with one mile on it when I took it off the lot. Since that dreadfull day I have had problems with the vehicle starting around 10k miles. First some electrical componets in the sound system went out. From there I have had to have the rotors replacedbecause nearly every 5k miles starting around 10,500 miles. The car has a hard time starting when the temperatures get too close to 20 degrees f, when you get to zero forget it. I have had the battery tested my dealer charged me $30. 00 some odd dollars to do that and said it is just me. When it gets too hot like around 85 degrees or so it runs like it is boging down. The fule injection sensors have gone out twice 200 miles appart and at this time the vehicle has nearly 33k miles on it. I have it serviced every 3k miles and have changed the air filter and spark plugs as directed. I also have all of my service receipts from the trips to the dealr I reguards to the electrical, break and injection work I have had done. The vehicle has also been taken to three diferent Dodge dealers hoping one would find something the others keept overlooking. More info can and will be provided if requested.

16 Battery problem of the 1997 Dodge Neon

My car had exactly 12000 miles on it when purchased. At around mile 43000, the car began to leak oil. I then took it to a mechanic who told me that it was the valve cover gasket. The repair was to cost me $800 until he also informed me that the problem was reoccuring in Dodge Neons and should have been recalled. The Dodge dealership took care of it. Then, around mile 70000, the car began to overheat tremendously, going dead every time the gas pedal was released, the electrical system began to go haywire, the battery had to be replaced, and as well as the thermostat. I am a college student and for this to be my dependable mode of transportation, it is truly a joke. The Dodge corporation should do something about this. Thank you!.
