I have a Dodge Neon 2005 and I know a few other people that have them to. I have been getting like a stall and engine light coming on so I took it to auto zone and they say it's the cam sensor. Three out of the five people I know with Neon say they had the same thing happen and when I research it it's all over the internet why is this not a recall since so many people are having issues with it.

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Neon. The contact was making repairs to the vehicle when he noticed that the area where the air intake tube was connected to the idle air control unit, the vehicle could possibly cause unintended acceleration if the clamp was not installed properly. The contact stated that if the accelerator pedal was depressed, the rpms would increase excessively and the vehicle would take accelerate rapidly. The failure mileage was 179,000. The VIN was not available. Updated 06/28/lj
the dealer informed the consumer, there was nothing to worry about, but if the part did come loose, the computer in the vehicle would decrease the rpm's. Updated 06/29/12.

Engine blowing due to rings deteriorating before reaching 100,000 miles. Compression low, car shakes, close to stalling out. Harder to start. Only way to fix is by replacing engine. Have seen thousands of references to this on many Dodge forums and other sites. Does not just include the 03 Neon sxt, also se, srt, intrepid, and one of the chryler models.

Car was taken for oil change and tune-up @ 134,000 miles. Couple days later car started stalling intermittently. Would start in the am from sitting all night but when driven to work and parked for 5 1/2 hours car would not start w/o a jump. Mechanic did not read anything on diagnostics. Went to advanced auto who read battery was low. Replaced battery & car still stalled. Car no longer responded to jump and had it towed to mechanic. When mechanic received car was able to start car with no hesitation and drove for 30 minutes. Turned car off and let it sit for another 30 minutes and had no problem starting. Mechanic could not figure out what was wrong with vehicle. Stuck with a car that intermittently stalls and shows no other signs of failure. Car has not cut off while driving only stalls while trying to start vehicle.

I have a Dodge Neon 2002 with 10,000. Miles on it. Recently my car idles now between 4-500 rpm. Driving my car; came to a stop light my car stalled. Now sitting at red lights/ stop signs the rpm's dropall the way to 300 rpm car starts to act like it is going to stall. Took it to the dealership and said nothing is wrong with it. One the tech's who took the car for a road test said there is something wrong with the computer. The car is deciding on its own for the rpm's to drop but does not show up on the computer analyses. The dealership said they are waiting for a "flash upgrade to be installed"; also the cd player in the car heats up the cd's burned my hand when I tried to take it ou. On 7-9-03 they gave me a loaner and on 7-12-03 they took it back. They said the only reason they gave me the loaner is because I was upset. They replaced the cd player but the problem with the car stalling is still not fixed. On 7-13-03 car stalled at a stop sign. Almost got rear ended. This is going to cause an accident. You need to get involved because the dealership is not doing anything and someone is going to get hurt'.

While driving the vehicle stalled. The dealer inspected the vehicle but could not duplicate or correct the problem.
Engine idles very rough. Car has stalled out twice this weekend while in reverse with no warning. Dealer has seen car today and said it cannot duplicate the problem so they have nothing to fix. My car has been in close to a dozen times in regards to the rough handling. Especially when a/c was on. Now it seems to have a problem while coming to a stop at a light. . . When you try to go the car seems like it isn't getting gas. Car dealer is unable to duplicate although my husband and friends have all noticed/experienced the rough feeling while driving (like it will just stall out. . . Sort of sputters) I am very aggravated with my '01 Neon.
When you reach any speed during the day only when you slow down to a stop it tries to stall.
Vehicle stalled at any speed, and stalled 6 times . Dealer could not find cause.
Car stalls while driving at any speed not at any set time or distance. Fuel filter, fuel pump, and computer module replaced and was sent to the Dodge dealer for repairs and two weeks of testing. This problem happens at any fuel level from full to an eighth of a tank and the same gas station was used for all cars I own so the bad gas theory is not the problem.

While driving on highway the vehicle stalled, causing driver to loose control of vehicle because steering wheel locked up. Driver was able to coast to the side of the road safely. The map sensor was replaced by dealer on 10/27/97. On 10/28/97 while making a left turn the vehicle stalled again, almost causing a crash. Dealer also replaced camshaft/crankshaft position sensors.

The vehicle has had three head gaskets and a transmission replaced once, as well as three neutral safety switches because the back up lights would not shut off, there is also a clnking sound in the front end and safety TSB's on it and the dealer still refused to correct it when under bumper to bumper, Dodge's philosophy is wait till the bumper to bumper is done to have the person pay either with the deductable on the service contract or out of pocket. Legislation should be passed to have a 3-36 war. On all replacement parts installed during a war. Period incase of failure.
Vehicle stalls while driving. Yh.
