1 Radiator problem of the 2005 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 06/26/2019

Person sold an inoperable vehicle. Using verbal manipulations he claimed in the add and later face to face that the vehicle has a clean title (carfax report shows it as salvage with multiple reported accidents and 8 service history records), certain mileage (148000 claimed, 223. 300 in reality), he was the 2nd owner (3 owners in reality) and no major issues - was told in person during the sale operation, also told he was selling the car for his friend thats why there was a different person name on a title (isabella jennine mello 8025 mammoth Ave panorama city CA 91409). Seller was convencing and did a great job at confusing igor and decieving him. The seller lied about the smog check also and took advantage of the buyer - the car didnt pass the smog check the next morning 6/27, and later the same day didnt start anymore for good. Seller send a text message to igor that same morning saying that car is overheating and water has to be placed in the radiator daily, but it's a very dangerous procedure as the water inside the tank is of a boiling temperature and can splash uncontrollably under pressure resulting onto an injury, which was a mockery as by that time a car was marked as inoperable by a mechanic and that was a miracle that it made it to the curbside. Currently it is absolutely dead metal. The car was fraudlently and intentionally made to work just one day specificly to make a sale. Leandro burgues intentionally gave out the false facts about the car and misled igor towards the sale completion. Igor trusted the seller, false info and fake odometer pictures thats been forced at him, as he couldnt see things clearly in person and was misled and verbally manipulated. All records as documents on this car, add screenshots and text messaging between igor and seller leandro burgues are available as proof.

2 Radiator problem of the 2004 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 10/20/2016

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Neon. While driving 20 mph, the engine revved and inadvertently shifted to a lower gear. Also, the service engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home but, prior to the failure, was having transmission issues for over a year. The contact mentioned that a plastic piece that separated the coolant and transmission fluid fractured and allowed coolant to enter the transmission. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing and repairs; however, the radiator was replaced. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 139,000. The VIN was unavailable.

3 Radiator problem of the 2004 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 12/16/2013

Transmission cooler in radiator leaked, causing transmission fluid to contaminate engine, and also contaminated transmission with radiator fluid. Called Chrysler corp and they said no recall on it and did not offer to help with it. When I google searched this problem there seems to be multiple instances of this happening.

4 Radiator problem of the 2002 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 05/13/2013

Where to start! steering wheel shakes bad when idling and had to replace the entire computer! there seems to be the same complaints with these cars without any action from Chrysler. We have had to replace the front control arm bushings twice in 6 months in my daughters car, there is water leaking into the backseat from somewhere, stuttering when going up hills or over 50 mph; blown out struts, replaced radiator; eats oil. . . . . . . . . . Why isn't Chrysler held responsible for these problems. Check the internet. . . . . . . . There are thousands of the same complaints! it has cost me over 2500 in repairs in 8 months!.

6 Radiator problem of the 2004 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 07/26/2010

S10 appropriate handling - letter from regarding Dodge problems. 2004 Dodge Neon. The consumers wife was driving the vehicle when the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating. The transmission failed and she was barely able to make it to the side of the road. The hood was extremely too hot to touch and noises and liquids were coming from the vehicle. The consumer stated there was a known problem with the transmission cooler in the radiator. The transmission, radiator, hoses and thermostat had to be replaced. Also, the engine was flushed.

7 Radiator problem of the 2004 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 05/26/2010

Check engine light came on and engine started bucking. No more gears or shifting into drive. Loss of transmission fluid and coolant. A piece of transmission line or fitting corroded and let loose inside the radiator. This caused the mixing of fluids into the transmission and cooling system. Radiator failed and bled fluids. Radiator was replaced and coolant system was flushed. Transmission was also flushed. This very same problem occurred to my CO-worker that has the same type vehicle(04 Dodge Neon,2. 0 litre engine,74000 miles). I suspect it is happening to every customer that has that type and year Neon. Part not available.

8 Radiator problem of the 2003 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 11/23/2009

No previous incidents with transmission or radiator, fluids both fine last time car driven, driving on highway, approximately four miles from home, engine began to rev, appeared to have trouble with automatic transmission between gears, check engine light came on, checked at location, radiator empty, transmission fluid low, checked 30 min later, transmission fluid empty, refilled transmission fluid and leaked from radiator- radiator rupture, unsure if damage to transmission from radiator rupture at this time.

9 Radiator problem of the 2005 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 04/03/2008

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Neon. The radiator clamp fell off and caused all of the radiator fluid to leak out of the vehicle. The vehicle failed and was towed to the dealer. At 9,000 miles, the front brake pads had to be replaced and an alignment was performed. Both repairs were performed under warranty. At 15,000 miles, the tires caused the vehicle to shake when the gear was in drive. All four tires were replaced under warranty. At 18,000 miles, the brackets under the driver's seat failed and the seat could not be moved backwards or forwards. The repair was performed under warranty. Also at 18,000 miles, the dealer had to adjust the rear brakes because they were squealing and pulsating. The squealing and pulsating occurred all the time, but especially in the mornings. The contact paid for the adjustment. The cd player failed and was repaired under warranty. Currently, the rear brakes are still squealing and pulsating, and the motor mounts have failed. The motor makes a popping sound during acceleration. While driving in reverse, the motor will sink into the vehicle. The only thing supporting the motor is the exhaust. The motor is almost touching the hood of the vehicle when it is closed. He has scheduled an appointment for the motor mounts to be repaired. The current mileage was 32,764 and failure mileage was 300.

10 Radiator problem of the 2003 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 03/24/2008

I am the 2nd hand owner of this vehicle. I have been in possession of it for about a year and 1/2 have meticulously maintained it and it has 55,000 mile on it. Recently the transmission became rather jumpy and it was to go into service but the day before I was to schedule an appointment it was more jumpy than usual and I smelt trans. Fluid through my air vents. Checked trans. Fluid and found nothing on the stick, shut if off, looked under the car and there was a puddle of pink fluid under on the ground. Looked at the little bit of fluid that was the trans stick and it was the same color. Looked in the coolant, same fluid as on the stick and the ground. My radiator had given out mixing my coolant with trans. Fluid. This left me to pay $974 out of pocket because Chrysler would not help pay for this common problem. Car is under a 7/70k power train warranty. Radiator is not covered.

11 Radiator problem of the 2004 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 03/12/2008

It was a sudden part failure which caused immediate danger. I was driving 35 mph down a road near my home and my car would not accelerate. I immediately pulled my car over to the side of the road and called my father for help. He noticed the engine coolant pouring out of it's container and my transmission fluid dangerously low. We refilled the transmission fluid, but it wouldn't stay, it was leaking somewhere. We called a tow truck to take us to the nearest repair shop. The tow truck guy immediately told us that he's seen this problem all the time with Dodge Neons. The radiator brakes and the transmission fluid leaks into the coolant. The repair shop mechanic also concluded the same thing. He told me he'd have to take a look at the transmission and flush out the system to see if there were any damage occurred to the transmission, but that I would definitely need to replace the radiator. He told me he used to work for Dodge service repair and would see this problem all the time and normally it would cause the transmission to blow too. In picking up the car he told me he manually flushed out the radiator and transmission systems as best he could, but that I would have to take it to someone whom could power flush out everything to make sure the transmission would be ok. I did ask him what's my guarantee that this won't happen again. He stated the new radiator that Dodge now provides for their Neons when the one from the factory fails is constructed entirely different. I asked him if there was a recall on this radiator since Dodge is aware of the issue? he told me no. I did some research online and discovered many stories like my own. I've found that any Neon from 1999 to 2005 has had a faulty radiator. Some of the stories are worse than mine. Transmissions blown and costing people thousands. It has caused accidents and may have cost lives, I'm not sure. I can only think when a car stops accelerating on a faster road, what kind of accident's can occur.

12 Radiator problem of the 2004 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 12/17/2007

The transmission cooler that is internal to the radiator in my 2004 Dodge Neon started to leak causing transmission fluid to enter my cooling system and get into my engine. This is the 8th time I heard of this occurring in this model, this is winding up being an extensive repair due to this failure of this component. Chrysler does not think there is a problem with this.

13 Radiator problem of the 2002 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 07/09/2007

The radiator broke in my 2002 Dodge Neon. The coolant went into the transmission. This was last 7/2007. Next the transmission solenoid went 4/2008. Now the transmission needs to be rebuilt. 7/2008 in talking to numerous repair shops I am finding out this is a common problem and happens all the time with these Neons. This is a safety issue. I think its a defect with the way this was built.

14 Radiator problem of the 2002 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 02/14/2006

On Feb 14, 2006 while driving to work the car started making dinging noise and the transmission started slipping. The temperature gauge went to hot and I heard a bubbling sound coming from the engine area. As I pulled the car into a parking lot, the car stopped. Had the car towed to the dealership in town and they ran a check through the onboard computer system. What they finally found was that the radiator had an internal failure (that the radiator seal had failed) and leaked between the radiator and the transmission causing the coolant and transmission fluids to mix. Since the car is a 2002 and I have had it for 4 yrs and 3 months with only 68,348 miles on the car the transmission should have been still under warranty, but Chrysler refused to honor the warranty stated, because the radiator caused the problem and it (the radiator) was no longer under warranty they would not cover the repairs to the transmission. I explained to the representative of Chrysler on the phone, that indeed the radiator is one of their components on the car and on a 4 year old car it should not have failed (as stated by the service personnel at the dealership), and it was factor for the extensive damage caused to the transmission. It was also the main factor that resulted in the car stopping while be driven on a busy roadway, which could have resulted in a possible accident, personal injury, or even death.

15 Radiator problem of the 2005 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 01/08/2006

I bought a 2005 Dodge Neon sxt on December 14,2005 and just on Sunday January 8, 2006 the clamp and hose of the radiator just broke. I had my car towed to my house and then I had the car towed to the dealers on Monday. They advised me that it was that, which I noticed that day that about 6 other cars came in also the same year make and model, it was the 2005 Dodge Neon sxt line. So they replaced the part and so far it has held up but don't now for shore yet. So please pass this down in the recall that this line of car's have a hose and clamp recall thanks edward robinson.

20 Radiator problem of the 1997 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 10/21/2003

I just bought this 97 Dodge Neon with only 23,000 miles on it. The a/c has a leak in the coil , the transmission is slipping . The car is in great shape but those few things so far . The person who owned the car before me was an older gentleman who does not wreck his things. I was wondering are these problems, factory problems and/or recalls?.

23 Radiator problem of the 1999 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 01/15/2003

Had car repaired for a cracked head gasket and cracked radiator. I asked the dealership wasn't there a recall on cracked gaskets I was told for the 98 Dodge Neon. Got new brake pads. They squeal loud and it takes a lot for car to come to a complete stop. Had to get a new thermostat on my car because it kept running hot. If they replaced my radiator in Jan 2003 why is my thermostat out. Also the check engine light came on and had to have the fuel inductor replaced along with a few other things.

27 Radiator problem of the 1997 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 11/27/2001

Took vehicle in to repair shop after noticing an oil leak. They told me at first it was normal leaking from routine oil change. Then thanksgiving day 2001, at freeway speeds (75 mph) the head gasket blew. Oil went every where. I had oil even in the coolant system. Took to my personal mechanic, he told me he has seen this many times before with Neon's. Final price to fix problem 987. 36, head gasket replaced coolant system flushed out, etc. Now I need a new radiator because of it. Seems to be common with this year of vehicle. My friend had a 1998 Dodge Neon that the head gasket was recalled in and she was able to get it fixed for free. Obviously for consumer satisfaction it would be in chryslers best interest to acknowledge, at the very least, that they have produced a less than satisfactory engine component in the 1997 Neon. What I would like to see is that some of the money, if not all, is refunded back to us. Otherwise I am satisfied with my Neon. It is out of commission right now due to needing a water pump. I purchased the vehicle December 20th, 1996 and have been the only owner.

28 Radiator problem of the 1998 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 06/15/2001

While driving to work one morning I checked my temperature gauge and realized my temp was extremely hot. Then there was a cloud of smoke rolling from under my hood. Being 50 miles from home and knowing this area too well I was very happy to see a county sheriff pull up behind me and offer me a ride to work. My car stayed on the side of the highway for 12 hours until I could get some one trust to come and tow it the 50 miles back home. The car sat for a while until I could save the money to bet it repaired. It was not easy to continue to pay a monthly loan payment on a car that was not drivable. Finally when we got the money I called a local and cheap mechanic to see what the problem was. A blown head gasket that in return caused oil to contaminate the radiator. It was only after speaking to my cousin who is a claims adjustor for a national extended warranty CO. Did I realized that I could get "assistance" through Chrysler to fix my car. I had to fight tooth and nail to get them to agree that this was an ongoing problem with this car. Finally eight months later my car is in the dealership getting repaired at only 50% of the cost at my expense. If you have this problem, contact the Chrysler corporation office in michigan and tell them you want a district rep to come to your dealership and determine how much "assistance" they will provide you. Do not take no for an answer. They will pay for partial repairs.

29 Radiator problem of the 1996 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 03/07/2001

Engine head gasket blew out. As the result of head gasket failure, oil mixed with the coolant. The dealer cleaned the radiator and fixed the head gasket.

30 Radiator problem of the 1996 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 10/10/2000

The head gasket leaks, with a cold engine radiator cap off fluid will be forced out like old faithful. Oil leaking from back of the engine on the driver side. I found out this isn't just a one car problem. I have 14 pages of people with the same problem. I also have 15 service bulletins reporting the same thing. It seems it should be a recall. Plus I shouldn't have to pay anything for engineering faults.

31 Radiator problem of the 1996 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 09/02/2000

While driving engine overheated and it was using 5 quarts of oil a day, and oil in the radiator that came out like cottage cheese.

33 Radiator problem of the 1996 Dodge Neon

Failure Date: 03/18/2000

I own a 1996 Dodge Neon and recently my engine check light came on. My husband checked my oil and anti-freeze and noticed there was oil in the radiator. He knew right away that the head gasket was gone. We went to the dealer to purchase a head gasket and the salesman told us that Neon's were known for this problem that the original head gasket that were installed at the plant weren't think enough. My husband asked him why we should replace this and not the dealer. Our area part stores can't keep up with stocking head gaskets for these cars. Why should we pay for this?.

The head gasket was defective which in the process it ruined the short block, cylinder three, and the radiator.
