I purchased a 1998 Neon espresso in June of 2004. On about July 2004 my car died. I had it towed and had over $1,800 of engine work done. After work was done they stated my rear seal was leaking and wanted over $600 to repair this.

I can not believe there hasn't been any recalls on this car for the engine, with the number of complaints you have listed. When I got this car it started with cylinder # 1 misfiring, then the r & r compressor was faulty, power steering pump was loose, the fan relay switch blew and now after my last payment the head cracks and cylinder # 2 doesn't hold enough pressure. I haven't had a pleasant experiance with my Dodge Neon.
Dear sir's, it was some-what hard to be really acurate on the milages in your form, but while these things were going on, I was keeping notes. I compiled them all down to a journal type document, dates & times. (06) pages. And I can further extend points in there, in a phone conversation. I will be happy to send you a copy of this also. Respectfully, e w. Moss. No safetyd efect listed.
Engine locked up during a heavy rain, dealer states that this is normal due to water getting inside the engine through the air intake system located in the l/f fender (design flaw?).

This car is a lemon!!! I've been to the dealer to get it fixed over 4 times and it again is overheating. Help me!.
Replaced blown head gasket. . . . New gasket was of superior quality and design than original. The manufacturer obviously redesigned it due to a faulty original design.

Dealership stated this is a problem on all Neons because of a faulty part. Mentioned that even if you did not have a warranty they would still fix it but it is not published any where. No safety defect listed in the summary.
I want the secret warranty to cover this. No safety defect in summary.
We have been informed from our repair shop that this has happened to a lot of Chrysler vehicles, Neon, cirrus, and. No safety defect listed in the summary.
While parked with the ignition on vehicle caught on fire in the engine compartment. Vehicle was totalled. Exact cause of the fire unknown, but most likely due to a leak in the engine compartment that was ignited, a result of a defect. Chrysler offered to cover the loan, but is not compensating for loss.
The dealership was terrible-minus 5 stars. Took the car to different dealership. They did a good job. Will think twice about buying another Chrysler car. No safety defect stated in summary.
Only had car for 2 1/2 years, shouldn,t be having thse problems. No safety defect listed in summary.

Brought car to dealer; cost totaled approx. $1,500; contacted corporate office and they covered parts; ended up paying approx. $400. Should be recalled -- outrageous viewing the numerous complaints on this same thing.
Noticed this problem seems common for '96 Neon - should be recalled!!.
Car was running, but parked. Engine caught fire, burning completely the front of the vehicle. My son escaped, the flames engulfed the engine, both the fire department and the police department were at the scene. He luckily was able to get out of the car. The front of the car was burned beyond recognition.
There is something wrong with my head gasket.
