Tank Assembly problems of the 1996 Dodge RAM

Eight problems related to tank assembly have been reported for the 1996 Dodge RAM. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2002

While filling up gas tank tank fell onto the ground causing fuel to leak. Dealer notified.

2 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2000

The plastic molded gas tank is loose, and moves around when driving. Dealer has been contacted. Heat shield will not stay secured to the tank, dealer has attempted to repair twice, however has been unsuccesful and states that the whole ank needs replaced.

3 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/10/1997

While driving down the street something hit the gas tank and the gas tank broke and started leaking gas.

4 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/01/1996

Fuel sending unit in fuel tank failed twice.

5 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/12/1995

Fuel gauge doesn't work. Consumer had the fuel gauge replaced three times. Gauge doesn't measure the gallon of fuel in gas tank.

6 Tank Assembly problem

Fuelguage misread amount of fuel in vehicle . Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.

7 Tank Assembly problem

On diesel engines fuel gauge is stuck on empty , and the fuel indictator light stays on even with fuel in the tank. Please provide further information.

8 Tank Assembly problem

Gas tank heat shield on 1996 Ram pickup due to design flow of gas tank.
