Four problems related to transmission noise have been reported for the 2001 Dodge RAM. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Transmission was defective. Consumer picked up the vehicle from the dealership after they repaired it. While driving 65 mph consumer heard a loud clanking noise and the rpms shot up from 2000 to 7000 rpms. Consumer almost lost control of the vehicle. The transmission made a squeaking noise and then locked up.
Consumer states that while driving transmission makes a "knocking" noise, especially when vehicle is changing gears. Dealer has inspected vehicle 4x and is unable to determine cause. Ts.
While traveling at 50mph there would be a high pitch whine. Going 45mph would have a dronning noise/ out of round. Have taken vehicle to dealership, and was informed that noise was noticeable. Mechanic waiting on technical service bulletin before repairing transmission. Dealer informed consumer to only use overdrive even when towing.
