The brake cylinders had been leaking and were replaced by the dealer in 2000. Then again in December of 2001 we had brake3 trouble and the calipers and cylinders has brakes began to squeak. We had just had everything done less than 6 months ago. We assumed that at the worst the pads needed changing. We took it in the next day. We were informed that it was not the warning system but that the calipers were frozen and had worn out so quickly that the back cyliders were shot too. We were told that our brakes could have gone out completely at any moment there wasn't any warning. Thankfull that we did not have an accident we spent the $800. 00 to fix everything. The calipers, roters, cylinders, pads, everything. This is the kicker that next weekend five days later we were comming home from out of town and going down a large hill they began to smoke. And we tried to pull over. We had no brakes!!! thank goodness there was no one in font of us. We shifted into a lower gear and gradually came to a stop at the bottom of the hill. I am stll waiting to see what the prob. Is now. I had called Dodge to see if there was any sort of prob. Or recall with the break system before and they said no. They would fix it but charge us to do so. I did some research and have found that there is so many complaints about the same problems. Our lives have been in jepordy twice and we have been lucky. It is obvious there is a prob. Looking at the complaints of the same nature why are they not doing anything. Do people have to die first. We have tried in vain to fix our truck to work properly with no luck. I only wish we could afford to by another truck. I am afraid that mine and my family's lives are in jepordy. When will Dodge step up to the plate and fix this problem?.

I have had 3 failures of my front brakes. The first time was within a week of purchasing the truck. The second brake failure was 6 months later at approx. 18,000 miles and the third failure was at approx. 34,000 miles on oct. 1st 2000. I have taken the vehicle back to Dodge and they have reported nothing wrong with the brakes. An independent mechanic looked at the brakes and said there appears to be something wrong with the calipers. The truck pulls violently to the left when the brakes are applied and I've also had the front brakes lock up.

Brakes started to fail at 8000 miles. At 18000 miles the brakes were repaired by the dealer. Tech found rear drums out of round. Front rotors were turned. The problem prior to repair was bad vibrations when applying brakes. Truck now has 37000 miles and the problem is begining again. Started to notice vibrations at about 25000 miles. Will dealer or mfg. Cover this problem at this point?.
Right front brakes make a clanking noise while driving. Noise stops when applying brakes. Vehicle been in / out of dealer shop on three occasions, and problem is still occurring. Provide further details.
Brakes pull to right at any speed. Requires significant correction by operator, increasing with speed.
Brake pull causing unsafe condition, especially in wet conditions.
While driving and applying the brakes there is a loud noise and the front brakes pads are gone completely and the rotors are in bad shape. Contacted the manufacturer and they won't fix the vehicle unless the consumer pays for the repairs.
Brake pads and rotors have failed for the second time. Current mileage is approximately 14000.
The front brake rotors warped. Had tires rotated. Noticed brake pads in front worn unevenly and rear drums out of adjustment by 80%, according dealer's mechanic.
From speaking with other Dodge truck owners, premature failure of the brakes appears to be a common problem. I don't know if accidents have resulted from brake faulure, but wanted to let you know of these problems.
When brakes are applied vehicle would pull to the right. Sometimes will also pull to the left. Had taken vehicle to dealer at least 6 times & problem still not solved. Was told design flaw. In addition, fron t brakes rotors/pads & torsion bar were replaced due to severe brake pulling. Was TSB on brake pulling.
The truck has had chronic brake pull problems - either to the right or left side. The dealer hasn't been responsive to resolve the problem in question. No parts were replaced by the dealer; Chrysler has been very unresponsive to the problem. The pull is so bad that the truck will actually change lanes while braking. I am not sure if NHTSA really does anything, but if they stand for safety, then this problem should be very seriously looked into. Many other people have complained about this same problem. . This is the second time I have had to replace my front brakes, the first time was approimately. 4 months before this time. While changing these brakes I discovered that the right side had worn a substantial amount more than the left, the left one didnt need replacing.
Front right brake caliper keeps pulling shortly after replacement. 4 have been replaced. Sometimes a very strong pull where steering is pulled from hands. Especially dangerious when pulling a travel trailer. -- fuel cell has a badly worn sleeve which causes floating suction to hang up causing air suction and running out of fuel at 1/2 tank plus or minus.
1. Outside pads completely worn out, inside pads not worn. Replaced pad. 2. Rotors warped, turned rotors 3. Rotors warped, replaced rotors 4. Brakes were worn down to the drums and there was no indication to consumer. Please provide further information.
When applying brake pedal front brakes tend to grab. Also, wear excessively. Dealer says it's due to overloading.
Problem: whole truck shakes or pulsates front to back while braking. Dealer replaced front rotors and pads in April. Problem still existed. Dealer replaced rear drums in September. Problem still exists and getting worse. Dealership does not know how to fix problem and waiting for reply from Chrysler's tech support. Dealtership won't attempt to fix until then.
Consumer stated while traveling at any speed and when depressing the brakes, the front end of the vehicle vibrated. Vehicle had been repaired six times, technician could not duplicate problem. The steering wheel also vibrated.
When applying the brakes vehicle pulls to the right. Dealer replaced front brakes, and problem still exists.
The truck has a severe brake pull to the right, which makes the vehicle difficult to control. The brake pull occurs at any speed, but it is most prominent at highway speeds and therefore presents a safety hazard. The vehicle was taken in for service four times in nine months on this issue. It is obvious that Chrysler is not interested in fixing the problem in an expedient manner.
I have had many attempts to fix the problem on the front end fixed, because I have been told the rear brake adjusters dont work( dot number: ).
