2 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2005 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 03/18/2008

My 2005 Dodge Ram truck with 31,700 miles on it began shuttering and having braking problems. A Dodge dealership identified that both front rotors on the vehicle were warped and needed to be replaced. Replacement was required at my expense to correct although the vehicle was still under warranty. It was denied warranty replace due to being a brake component and subject to normal ware. The brake pads and brake components themselves still had 80% usage available. I disagree that front rotors should fail at 30k miles on a new vehicle but normal brake components do not. I consider this a defect in manufacturing and a safety concern.

Also, after starting the vehicle and putting it into gear, the vehicle surged forward. The brake pedal was applied and the vehicle was put into neutral, but the engine continued to rev. The vehicle was put into park and turned off, upon turning the vehicle on; a lightning bolt was on the dashboard. The engine continued to rev and the vehicle was turned off. 9 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2004 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 06/20/2005

I have a 2003 caravan and a 2004 Ram and have had ongoing issues with my brakes. I beleive that the factory must have used faulty rotors. Last August, to my amazement I had to have the rotors turned when the dealer put new pads on my caravan (26,000 miles). I begrudgingly paid over 200 dollars for this. 9 months later the brakes and steering wheel are pulsing again and the dealer is telling me the rotors must be turned again even though the pads are fine. I expected that the dealer would take care of this since they were just serviced 9 months ago but they said I was 200 miles over the limit. I also had the same issue with my Ram and even though I had more than 50% of my pads left I had warped rotors and had to pay the dealer to have them turned. I spoke with the service manager at lithia Dodge in omaha, previously jims Dodge, and he had the audacity to tell me if I replace the rotors the new ones will be guaranteed for life not to warp! why would you guarantee the aftermarket rotors but not the rotors from the factory??!.

21 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2000 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 07/28/2001

Excessive wear on rotors that I believe is unsafe and a manufacturers defect - minimum allowable rotor spec is 1. 215 - right side is 1. 166, left side is 1. 164 - original pads still have more than 1/8 inch on each of the 4 pads - I was going to have pads chaged on 7/28 and that is when I was advised that the rotors had to be replaced - I never had a vehicle that wore out the original rotors before the original pads ever wore out - I shoul be able to "true" rotors once or twice before having to replace the rotors as long as the pads do not wear out before replacing same - manufacturer will do nothing - claims that the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty is their total responsibility in this matter - I disagree.

28 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2000 Dodge RAM

I had my brakes overhauled and had to have the rotors exchanged because of a defect the manufacturer knew about but failed to notify consumers. The brake rotors are machined to such close tolorances, that they would have to be changed at the first repairs. I have talked to service people whom have had them changed at less than 30 k miles. I feel an recall should be made by the manufacturer or the extra money refunded by the manufacturer.
