The hub went out on the vehicle and was replaced immediately with a new one. Drove approximately 10 miles and the brand new hub did the same exact thing. I can not figure out what keeps causing the issue nor can I afford to keep replacing them. I have had several Dodge rams over the years and while the hub does go out on them I have never had one go out right after putting it on. I have done my research and noticed this is a very common occurrence with this year model truck. Something needs to be done.

When we first bought our truck back in may 2014 my husband and I fell in love with our new truck, we took excellent care of the maint. In July we started noticing it felt more loose you could say and we were confused as to why it was like that we up until now thought the dealership had sold us a lemon bc in a year we spent over 2000 trying to prove they sold us a lemon but couldn't prove it until now we travel a lot due to work but in 2 months we knew knew we shouldn't have had to repair this much stuff on a new truck we had always thought working in north and south dakota that these should have been called the windy cities. But the car was still all over the place even when there was no wind we bought tires we did alignment after alignment including having another 23 point inspection done again we also took it on one occasion which was July 4 , 2014 and it was so bad that we took it to goodyear in wisconsin and and the left front passenger hub assembly had falling into two pieces remind you we bought this vehicle may 24, 2014 we replaced everything that went wrong and now I'm beyond afraid to get in the truck that I used to love especially since north and south dakota just raised the speed limit to 80. In high winds.

The frame on my Dodge ram has broken welds on both sides of the frame where the lower control arms mount to the frame. They have failed due to manufacturing defects during the welding process. The truck has never been wrecked, driven off road, or done any towing. Dodge refuses any assistance in replacing the frame because it has aged out of their warranty. The truck has 74,138 miles on it and is not drivable without a new frame. I had the truck in twice under warranty service for drivability issues under braking and steering over bumps. Neither time were the cracks in the frame found or addressed. Every time the brakes are applied, the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably and is unsafe to drive. I found the damage while changing the oil and was about to replace the frt hub bearing assembly on the passenger side since the driver's side had already failed and had been replaced earlier. Contacted Chrysler and was told that my truck had aged out of warranty, but that taking it to a dealer they would be able to find a technical service bulletin that may cover it. I googled TSB's and found one on the 2006 Dodge ram frames for the exact same area affected on my truck, but Dodge still won't address this issue. I've been dealing with this for over six months and want my truck fixed or replaced.

I recently had the drivers side front hub fail on my truck. Having heard a grinding noise, I took the truck home and lifted the front to inspect it. After inspecting the wheels and brakes, I removed both and found that the bearings had failed on the drivers side. These hubs are sealed units that have to be replaced. I replaced both sides to be safe. My truck has anti-lock brakes in the front also so these units cost me almost $500. 00 with new pads. Chrysler told me that they had not fount any design problems with the hubs but as this is a critical unit that does not get serviced, it should not fail so soon. Had I driven much further the unit could have broken completely causing the entire wheel to fall off. This could have caused a serious if not fatal accident.
5 months ago my vehicle started a vibration in the steering wheel as I would drive and then my truck would shake as slowing. . . . I went to the dealership for a fuel service and was notified of several recalls including a hub assembly that I had replaced the year before. I was told I would be called within 2 weeks to schedule a appt to have it fixed but when I attempted to call, the person I had talked to was let go or fired. . . Since then I have been going to school and working fulltime. 2 weeks ago my truck started with a noise sounding like a squeal/squeak. . . And I was told it just needed penetrating oil but the noise has gotten worse. . . .
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that when servicing the vehicle, it was advised that the front passengers side wheel bearing hub needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,853 and the current mileage was 74,137.
Turning right out of a parking spot there was a loud snap and then a lot of grinding. Upon inspection the wheel bearing hub assembly had broken and damaged the steering knuckle. There are tsbs that indicate there may be a problem in the front left suspension.

On January 26, 2014, my truck with only 59,000 miles experienced sudden catastrophic failure of the front left wheel bearing hub assembly. The front left wheel bearing hub failure resulted in complete separation of the wheel hub and assembly from the truck. This major failure is similar to two previous NHTSA recalls on Dodge Ram 1500 trucks as outlined below. From my review of Dodge message boards, this appears to be a broader issue than covered by the two previous NHTSA recalls. When I contacted the Dodge dealership, they said my truck was not within the two recall classes. I believe this is a broader issue and request the NHTSA to further investigate to save the lives of individuals who have purchased this truck. Two previous recall efforts: 1) the NHTSA campaign number is 07v-038 (or 07v038000). Daimlerchrysler's Dodge division is recalling 86,333 of its popular Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a potential failure of the front wheel bearing hub assembly. The recall, under the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA), involves every ram light-duty 2006 model year truck manufactured between November 7, 2005 and April 27, 2006. Three plants' output is involved: saltillo, mexico; fenton, missouri; warren, michigan. 2) NHTSA campaign id number: 10e040000 : federal-mogul is recalling certain carquest, national, and percision brand wheel hub assemblies, p/nos 515073 and 515073, sold for use as replacement equipment on model year 2002 through 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks. The inboard roll form used to maintain the hub assembly can fatigue resulting in noise and/or wheel separation on the two wheel drive (2wd) applications. The risk of these issues do not occur on the four wheel drive (4wd) applications, and installation on the 4wd applications are not part of this recall.
My family and I were driving home a few days ago when suddenly the steering wheel jerked hard left while the front end of the truck started sliding into oncoming traffic. I corrected the wheel but it was so loose that we fish tailed the other direction. The steering wheel was violently whipping back and forth as I tried desperately to gain control. Finally the truck straightened out and seemed to be functioning normally after the near catastrophic accident. The following day I took the truck and it started screeching like dragging metal under the drivers side floorboard. I got out to see if anything was dragging from the truck, but didn't see anything. I made it home but it was screeching off and on. The next day when I jacked the wheel off the ground to check under the car I found that the wheel was very loose. I started doing some research online to diagnose the problem and I soon found two recalls for my truck. The first recall was a faulty left tie rod assembly and another was an unreliable wheel hub assembly. I called Chrysler corp. To get my truck fixed but I was told that it was not part of any of the recalls. I verified that my truck was on both recall lists and she agree while explaining every vehicle in that particular production wasn't recalled.
Am on third engine each time oil pump failed, and now this one is acting up, powertrain end of year built truck has a lot of 2000 parts on it, rear end seized up drive shaft broke rear yoak split in two, suspension tie rods and idle arms always breaking, two break disks 1 left side 1 right side broke, left one split right down the middle, the right side the center of the hub broke right out at the bearings riped right out.

While driving Saturday, 11/23/2013, I noticed a vibration and humming noise coming from the front of my vehicle. Also, when I turned the car would croak or moan. I could tell something was wrong because my brake pedal became very spongy and had to be pressed in fully in order to stop the car. I began to head home with the truck as I did not want a safety hazard where I could not stop the vehicle. I also noticed that in order to steer straight, I had to hold my steering wheel approximately 30 degrees left. Upon getting the truck home I immediately saw my problem. My front passenger tire was sitting in the wheel well on an angle. Large amounts of smoke were pouring out of the undercarriage, and rubber goo was leaving a trail where I drove. I jacked the car and removed the wheel, and could see even more. My wheel hub assembly was separated and broken. This caused my tire to sit on the hub crooked and lean against my control arm. The heat from this friction was so intense that it melted my cv boot, which is why I had a rubber goo trail. It also melted the abs sensor on the wheel hub itself. Causing my abs to go out. The hub itself had a piece completely fallen off, as if a weld broke. The heat also warped my rotor, and cracked my brake pads in that side. Luckily, I did not have any wheel separation or total failure of the braking system, causing crash or injury. I was barely able to utilize braking and drive home at about 20mph with hazards on. The wheel hub assembly has been recalled in several year Dodge Ram 1500s, including 2004, 2006, and others, for bearing issues. However Dodge claimed it was only a faulty part in 2wd applications. Now we know this is not true. I have a 4wd ram that had the hub assembly fail and a partial braking failure. I am out of room, but I have pictures of the parts broken on the car, and pictures of the removed parts as well.

Front wheel hub/bearings on both sides completely worn out resulting in play in the front end and destroying the brake rotors and pads. These are not serviceable parts and cannot be greased or lubricated to prevent failure. I would be afraid of losing a wheel so will not be driving till repaired.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, a humming noise emitted from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was stated that the hub assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
Hub assembly failed and brakes gave out which allowed vehicle which resulted in crashing into a tree.
While negotiating soft rigth turn, I heard a very loud popping, banging noise, that sounded as if the front suspension had let go. Got home 2 minutes later. Unable to determine cause. Couple of days later while backing out of driveway, I heard a loud metal-on-metal grinding noise that stopped when I shifted into drive. From then on, I noticed a roaring/humming that I thought might be a transmission problem. Heard the loud popping/banging/screeching a couple of more times over the next few days. Minimized driving. I took the truck to local Dodge dealer where they diagnosed hub failure. Drove a couple of miles to trusted independent garage. Had left front hub assembly replaced. Garage owner surprised I made it to his shop without the wheel locking and coming off. Looking at internet, the hub problem seems very common on Dodge pickups (recall on 2006 models). Many complaints reported on various websites affecting models from 2002-2009, with most occuring around 53000 miles. Several crashes reported due to wheel separations from hub/bearing assembly failure and lockup.

The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving approximately 60 mph, the driver noticed that the abs warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The tire and the wheel detached from the vehicle causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a ditch. The driver and passenger were able to exit the vehicle from the front driver side door. The driver inspected the vehicle and noticed that the front passenger side hub was fractured, causing the tire to detach. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
At 80,000 miles city driving both left and right hubs failed. Left hub locked up almost sending me into center concrete wall. Damage to ft end was extensive. Called dealership to find out if I had 2 wheel or 4 wheel abs, give them my VIN number¦. . Looooooong story shot, the dealership could not tell me if I had 2 or 4 wheel abs. I had to pull apart to find out. Its a shame the very people that make the truck, can't tell you whats on the truck. $500. 00 later 2 wheel abs hubs left and right, replaced by myself. Not to mention the under carriage damage done due to hub locking up. Sent truck to auto shop to repair front end damage. Beware¦. . If you're hearing a noise in front that sounds like a big bolt in your tire and there is not, get the hubs looked at right away. This is how my issue and costly repairs started.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated the front left tire separated from the vehicle due to the hub assembly and wheel bearing. While driving 5 mph the tire snapped off and rolled underneath the truck. The mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed her due to the lack of grease on the wheel bearing it caused the hub assembly to pop the wheel off. The manufacturer was contacted and informed her that NHTSA campaign id number: 07v038000; suspension: front: wheel bearing recall does not include her VIN. The manufacturer offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was producing a loud noise from the front driver side wheel hub. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the wheel hub was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 137,000 and current mileage was 138,000.
The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving approximately 60 mph the front passengers side wheel detached from the vehicle. The contact was able to control the vehicle and pull over to the emergency lane. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technicians diagnosed the failure and stated that it was caused by the front wheel hub bearing assembly which had separated. The technician stated the upper and lower control arms, front steering, knuckle hub, rotor assembly, brake caliper, abs speed sensor, brake line hose, wheel, and lug bolts all needed to be replaced. The vehicle also sustained damage to the fender. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.

Driving during inclement weather event, heard a pop in the area of the right front wheel. Assumed it was ice or snow. Within the next 20 miles, slight vibration began and grinding noise heard. Parked vehicle for week while out of town. Returned drove to work, approx 22 miles, problem persisted and got worse, this was during another snow event. Decided to seek assistance from local dealership, refused immediate attention, set up appointment for Jan. 4, 2010. Called local repair shop near home. Could get me in immediately. Attempted to drive to repair shop. Right from wheel bearing failed, causing damage to hub and axle. Had to be hauled in because the wheel separated from axle. Caused tire to ride up into upper control arm and destroyed tire. Searched internet and found that 2006 Dodge rams had been recalled for similar problems and that 2002 thru 2008 Dodge rams that had replacements with specific brands had been recalled. My vehicle had only 53,412 miles on it when the bearing assembly failed. It has cost me over $600 in repairs that were not covered by the "70,000 mile limited drivetrain warranty. " the replaced parts are available and in my possession. It seems to me this is a fairly common occurrence in Dodge pickups of many model years including 2005 both 2 and 4 wheel drive.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 quad. The contact stated that the front right wheel hub assembly was separated from the vehicle. Both the dealer and manufacturer advised the contact that her vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 07v038000 (suspension:front:wheel bearing ) and offered no further assistance. No repairs were performed. The current mileage was 44,027 and the failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Around 6/2009 my passenger side wheel hub starting to make a cracking and popping noise at parking lot speeds, I took it to have replaced. It was replaced with a new part. Now only a year later my driver side wheel hub is making the same cracking and popping noise. I believe the bearings are sub standard and need to be checked into.
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 wheel hub bearing assembly separation / wheel separation, while traveling at a speed of 35 -40 mph on the highway, my vehicle began to shake and pull to the right and then the wheel right front wheel hub bearing assembly failed causing my vehicle to become disabled during a snow storm.
Both front hub/wheel-bearing assemblies have failed on my truck. My truck has 50k miles! the front wheel-bearing on both sides makes noises, sometimes sounds like it is catching or getting stuck. This has caused me to wreck in a ditch and is very dangerous. The noise starts out only once in a while, then seems to be constantly grinding.
2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4, 68,000 miles, not commercial use, never used for towing, never used to plow snow, no modifications made ever, driven on paved highways and city streets, and never driven off road. On December 11th 2009 I was driving to work on a smooth paved road when a humming began in the front of the truck. In a matter of 1-2 miles the passenger front wheel began vibrating hard and the vehicle started pulling hard to the right. This almost caused me to loose control. I checked the suspension the next day and found the passenger front hub bearing worn out and severely loose. I could rock the tire 1/4 inch each direction. Upon inspecting the hub there were no dark spots indicating grease had leaked out. I disassembled the front hub and found it bone dry of grease and ruined. I believe this is the same bearing assembly, or very similar, as the 2006 Ram 1500s. The failure was sudden with only a minor humming before severe vibration, wheel drag, and almost a loss of steering. The cost of parts alone cost me approximately $185 at an aftermarket parts store and $350 at Chrysler. It is obvious that Chrysler installed the same type of defective bearings in all the 04,05,06 and possibly newer Ram 1500 pickups. Nhtsa should enforce this recall through Chrysler on all 04,05, and 06 models before a fatality occurs. Below is the 2006 recall. 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 units affected: 86333 recall number: 07v038000 summary: on certain pickup trucks, the front wheel bearing may have received an insufficient quantity of grease during the manufacturing process. Consequence: this could result in bearing degradation, and if subsequent noise and vibration are ignored, could result in hub assembly separation. This may result in a loss of vehicle control and cause a crash without warning. Remedy: dealers will replace the front hub and bearing units. The recall began on February 26, 2007. Owners may contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-140.
