Dodge Ram 1500 owners have reported 63 problems related to front suspension (under the suspension category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
On my 2001 Dodge 1500, there is a ton of rust on the underside parts. The frame and body aren't bad, but the things that attach are failing. The brkae lines went, and the emergency brake all went at the same time, almost resulting in a wreck. The straps that hold the gas tank in place rusted out. The sheet metal attachment for the front axle is the latest. I's almost rusted out, and would have caused the front axle to detach if not replaced. ($$$$)
yes, the truck is 10 years old and I live in NW PA where we use salt. Critical parts need to be protected from rust or made from stailness. This truck could have killed someone, probably me!.

I own a 2007 Dodge mega cab 1500. I purchased the vehicle new and have had this issue almost from the beginning. This wobble has not just happened a couple times, it happens every time it is driven. I have tried to get the death wobble fixed several times. Each time I was told it was fixed but for me to do something else too. I have added a leveling kit, replaced tires to the shops specs, shocks, front steering stabilizer and all of the work the Dodge shop has done. The most recent event is that I picked up my truck from the dealer today from it being in the shop for the same reason I had it in the shop 4 other times. I was told the whole front end was fixed and promised the problem was taken care of. I paid the bill and left. I was 20 minutes away from the dealership and it started again. I pulled over and called the dealer. I was told no one was in service even though they did not close for another 30 minutes and to bring the truck back. The truck had already been there for almost a month. I turned around to go back to the dealer my wife was in front of me in her vehicle and the wobble started again. She moved over 3 lanes of highway because she thought I was going to flip the truck. The front right tire appeared like it was going to shake right off. I returned to the dealer and was told the only thing they could do was have me leave it again and someone would look at it tomorrow. Someone is going to be severally hurt with this problem. I have tried everything I have been told to do and nothing works. There are no recalls, no investigations, no one seems to care. Someone is going to have a serious accident or cause a death because of Dodge's faulty equipment. What are we going to have to do before this problem is fixed? is it going to be another firestone tire issue? I cant afford to another vehicle but I can't imagine what could happen if it does not get fixed.

I have had this same problem on my Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 quad cab. Left tie rod stud/stablizer bar replaced June 2011, had to pay for alignment as well. Is the NHTSA looking into the same problems with the Ram 1500 models?
when will the 1500 models be added for the same defect and be recalled?
to be recalled are 2008-2011 ram 2500 and 3500 4x4 models; 2008-2011 ram 3500 cab chassis 4x2 models; 2008 Ram 1500 mega cab 4x4 models; and 2003-2008 ram 2500 and 3500 models, according to a filing with the national highway traffic safety administration.

Tl. The contact owns a 2008 Dodge ram. The contact stated while having a oil change the contact was informed that the front outer tie-rods were loose. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer confirmed the front outer tie-rod were loose and replaced the tie-rod. One year later the front outer tie-rod is loose again. The contact was informed about the tie-rod while having the brakes changed. The contact has not taken the vehicle to the dealer. The contact stated the vehicle could cause a major crash. The failure mileage was 52,000. Jo.
2007 - Dodge Ram 1500 megacab has the 'death wobble'. While driving at highway speeds, if you hit a bump or pothole, especially while making a slight turn, the front end suspension shakes uncontrollably until you are able to reduce speeds to approximately 25 mph. When the truck is shaking steering is nearly impossible and slowing the truck while maintaining control is extremely difficult. It has happened often enough that I can nearly reproduce it on demand. I do not feel safe when the shaking occurs and fear losing control of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the front end of the vehicle would vibrate. The vehicle was taken to have an alignment as well as new tires installed, but the failure continued. The contact also stated that the vehicle would shake vigorously while driving over bumps in the road. The dealer recommended replacing the front end of the vehicle. The failure mileage was 76,000 and the current mileage was 81,000.
Dodge 1500 06 tie rod failures. . About every 30000 miles I am having to replace tie rod ends due to the lack of factory lube points. . (no zerk fitting per dealer reason for failure). . . . . The looser it got the harder it is to control at breaking. . .

I am the owner of a 2008 Dodge ram mega cab. The truck currently has 30,000 miles and is 3 years old. Recently I have experienced the so called "death wobble" several times. The vehicle will travel over a series of bumps at speed or one larger bump and the truck will shake uncontrollably until speed is reduced. Through research I have found that this dw is a common problem with the Dodge truck.
Front end shakes to the point that you lose control of vehicle this only happens after hitting a bump or uneven pavement at speed greater than 60mph you have to come to a complete stop to stop the shaking.
I purchased a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 pickup in April, 2009. Approximately 6 months after ownership, I was driving north on interstate 95 near richmond va, at about 70 miles per hour when the vehicle began to shake violently. I came to a stop, and took a state route the remainder of the trip, after looking under the vehicle for some obvious defect. I could see nothing. A few days later, I took the vehicle to an ase certified repair shop. They noticed slight play in the left front u joint, so I had both replaced, knowing that could not have possibly caused what I experienced. I drove the vehicle about another 6 months and had the same incident occur. I took the vehicle back to the repair shop and asked them to inspect the suspension, explaining the violent shaking that occurred. They could find nothing wrong. Everything was fine until 2 weeks ago. Again, while driving on i95, at about 70, out of nowhere, without warning, the vehicle shook violently. It shook my body so hard it blurred my vision. The ac vent covers snapped out , my coffee up bounced out of a tightly squeezed holder, and my dash board top cracked into about 15 pieces. It was absolutely dangerous and violent. I came to a stop. Only then did the shaking stop. I looked under the vehicle and all round for something obviously wrong, but saw nothing. That evening, I googled Dodge truck violently shaking and learned about the "death wobble". If the authorities would read the internet, and reports on this issue, it would be overwhelming that there is a serious design flaw in this vehicle. There is no doubt in my mind that there has been a death from this problem, as all 3 times it happened to me, only luck allowed me to exit the travel lanes , get in the break down lane and come to a stop. A slight change in the traffic pattern would have caused a high speed accident, as it is nearly impossible to control the vehicle it is shaking so violently. Please investigate this problem.
Coil spring broke from driver side. The mechanic said he has never seen this happened on Dodge 1500.
My 2006 Dodge 4x4 mega cab is wobbling all over the road @ speeds of 50 + mph I have installed new shocks , front damper and a new pitman arm , what's to be done next????.
2008 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4: the outer tie rod ends went at 48,000 miles. I started getting vibration in the steering. Had to have them replaced and the front end aligned at my expense. Checked for safety recall and there was nothing. Have heard from dealership that several other people have had the same problem. Also tires are rotated every 5,000 miles when the oil is changed. Still have a slight pull to the left though. Still have old outer tie rod ends.
The pickup shakes violently when hitting a bump at speed from 60 -75. Very dangerous.
Freeway speeds rough road , front end of truck bounces over 2' to 24' left or right depending on rough road angel of entry, called dealer no idea of problem friend has same truck and same problem, this can happen anytime at freeway speed over 50mph. It has happened to me at least 8 times.
When traveling on interstate, at speeds of 55-65, I experienced the truck shift to the right when hitting a bump. Took truck back to dealer and he suggested rotating the tires. This occurrence has happened several times, scares the wife at times. Happy I bought the truck, it's sad they won't investigate the problem.
I just purchased a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. I noticed that everytime I go over a bump in the road the front bounces all over the place. It feels like the shocks are shot. When you hit a bump in the highway at 65 mph it feels like you are going to roll the truck. I saw my mechanic today , and he stated that the front shocks are bad. I am also concerned that there might be further front suspension issues. I'll know more when it gets out of the shop.
Front shocks completely went out.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that oil leaked out of the front driver's side shocks. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they confirmed the failure. The dealer stated that they would order the parts and advised her to return in a week. A week later, the contact called the dealer and was informed that the manufacturer did not have the parts to repair the vehicle. She called Chrysler, but they have not returned the call. The failure mileage was 5,300.
2007 Dodge 1500 4wd pu. Left front shock started to leak with 25000 miles on truck. Dealer says they will replace the one shock when they get some in. Have friends with same truck and same problem and they also got 1 shock replaced. I think they should replace the pair . There must be something wrong with them .
2007 Ram 1500 4. 7 automatic. 16000 miles. Front shocks, when you hit a bump, doesn't have to be much of one, there is a loud squeaking under the vehicle. Comes from both sides in front and rear. Haven't been to dealer yet. But the way the vehicle is riding, I believe the shocks in the front may have given out. Don't have any idea what's going on in back. Rubber bumpers maybe? *note* this was purchased new, with lowering of 2/4 from the dealer before delivery. Not sure how they did the lowering.
Bolt attaching lower shock mount to lower a-arm has to great a threaded length causing the threads to bear on the lower a-arm, causing the threads to be ground down and the hole in the a-arm through which the bolt passes to be fretted and enlarged excessively. The wear of the a-arm could result in cracking of the a-arm due to fatigue. Wear of the bolt threads could cause excessive bending of the bolt and premature failure of the bolt causing loss of control.

I has both front shocks go out on my 2008 Dodge ram. I rarely drive this truck and they shouldn't have gone out. The leaking shocks also damaged my driveway and Chrysler refuses to take car of it. Don't buy a Chrysler product.
Front shocks both blew out leaking all of their fluid out. Ride became very poor. Manufacturer should recall and redesign the front shocks.
2007 Ram 1500 shaking and vibration felt most on drivers side of truck. Hitting bumps uneven roads front left wheel feels like its going to fall off. And shaking throughout the vehicle. Took to dealer . Was told they can feel shaking but don]t know what the problem is. They claim they did an alignment rotated the tires which was not needed and I ask to have tires spun balance at my cost. Truck was driven by tech and he said it was ok. I picked truck up upon driving home noticed no improvement. Truck was left at dealership for 7 days . So I didn't rush them truck had 16300 miles at that time. I have come to find out I am not alone with this problem truck has 18000 miles on now and still feels the same. Other than this problem. I love the truck.
Left front tire is showing wear on the outside edge. Dealer stated tire was out of balance and needed rotation. Truck has 13,000 miles on it. I am not sure I agree with this diagnoses. Truck also has a vibration when driving between 55 and 70 mph.
Brought vehicle home from dealer with heavy vibration at 65 mph. Took vehicle to dealer, which couldn't balance tires, they sent them to a tire store. Tires were balanced, vibration better but still there. Took vehicle to another tire store where one tire was replaced and other 3 tires balanced again. Vibration much better, but still notice slight shake and vibration starting at 57-60 mph. Feels like a wobble, feel it in the seat and steering wheel. Dealer says that tires can't be balanced beyond 55 mph. Finding other instances of this on websites for 2006 rams. Doesn't feel like road feel from tight suspension, feels like something is loose in wheel assembly or tires are still not perfect. Could be driveshaft.
Right front wheel assembly separated from the vehicle causing extensive damage to the front suspension, bumper quarter panel. Usaa insurance company paid for repair. Have filed a claim with daimler/Chrysler to reimburse for repair. Have no response.

: the contact stated while the vehicle is turning left, there is a rubbing noise in the front end. The dealership is aware of the noise, and the manufacturer is currently designing a repair.
While driving at 25 mph something in the front end popped followed by the left front tire separating from the truck. When this occurred vehicle sharply pulled to the left and collided with a pole. Vehicle was towed to a towing yard, then to a body shop. The body shop or the insurance company couldn't indicate what popped and caused the tire to separate.
Consumer stated vehicle shimmied, and there was bad squeaking in the front. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer, and they said it was the tires. Consumer had the tires balanced and a front end alignment. However, problem recurred.

The front alignment malfunctioned prematurely, causing the steering wheel to pull to the left. Dealership repaired the problem five times, but problem recurred.
The vehicle hit a bump while driving which caused the vehicle to shake and the driver lost control.
