1 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 03/15/2021

After filling fuel tank 5. 7 hemi stalls while in motion on a city street and highway and is hard to start. Almost caused a serious crash. After about 20-30 miles it stops stalling for the most part. It has stalled after more than 20-30 miles.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 08/26/2020

On more than 1 occasion, after filling the gasoline tank, the vehicle has stalled shortly after being filled. Yesterday, I filled the tank. Aware of this issue from past experience, I avoided "overfilling" it. Approximately 3 or 4 miles later, I made a righ turn at low speed to enter a parking lot and the vehicle stalled. I lost power steering and struggled to get it turned safely. At first it wouldn't crank, but eventually I did get the truck restarted. I conducted some business, then went back to the truck and started it to head home. Again as I was turning right to exit the parking lot, the vehicle stalled and I had to struggle to get it to restart. This is extremely dangerous and from internet research, I know others are experiencing the same thing.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 03/12/2020

When filling my gas tank at any station at any time of year, while filling my gas tank will continuously puke gas back up the filler tube all over the ground, this is a huge issue among many Dodge vehicles. It's unsafe and to fix it you have to replace the entire gas tank. This happens no matter what, truck on, truck off.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 05/11/2018

Just recently, my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab, 4x2 will stall right after filling the tank with fuel. Within the first mile this truck has stalled at least three times. Once enough fuel has been burnt, the truck will run fine until the next fill up and the condition returns. When this happens, steering and brakes are lost creating an extremely hazardous condition and could end in a collision. This also happens when making turns or maneuvering through traffic. I have read that several others have had this same thing happen with their trucks. I have been told that my truck needs a new fuel tank assembly since the defective part is not serviceable as it is plastic welded inside the fuel tank. I am hoping that an investigation will be opened and a recall on these tanks is initiated to prevent vehicles from stalling in the middle of an intersection and creating a potentially life threatening situation.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 11/06/2017

While trying to fill fuel tank stationary at a gas station, fuel spills out and shuts down fuel filling nozzle, dealer replaced fuel fill tube on 11/22/2017 but this did not correct the problem. Now Chrysler wants me to b pay them to find the problem. I have read many Dodge forums with hundred of owners having this same issue.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 02/18/2017

Recently went over 100k miles and fuel tank is not filling properly, as it actually trips the pump every half gallon or so. After getting tank filled, truck stalls for about the first 15 miles. Truck has stalled at intersections, while driving at speed, coming to a stop, etc. After about 15 miles, stalling stops, but once again the truck will not take fuel properly. Called dealership and they want to replace fuel tank with an exact replica that still has not fixed the problem. According to local dealership and online research, problem is stated to be a stuck vent line valve internal to the gas tank. Almost $2,000 dollars wanted to replace this tank with another tank that has not been fixed. When truck does stall, loss of steering, brakes, etc. Until I drop it into neutral, start it again, and put back in drive while all the time trying to make sure I do not cause an accident.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Fuel tank has metal tabs to lock fuel pump in position. Water can collect with road salts to eat away the locking tabs which allows the fuel to leak out next to hot exhaust which can cause fire. When filling fuel tank the fuel will seep out because the locking tabs no longer hold the pump in place. This leaked fuel can cause fire, and allow fuel to pool under the vehicle causing fuel spills.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

At about 89,000 miles I noticed when filling the truck the nozzle would click off many times before it was filled. It steadily got worse as time went by, it started to spit gas back all over the truck and myself. The dealer told me it was either the filler tube or the whole gas tank both of which are over $2200. 00 dollars to replace. They said if I paid $150. 00 they would narrow it down. I paid the fee and was told it was the filler neck. They replaced it only to find it was not the problem. I tried to fill it up and was greeted by a gas spray as it had done before, it was not fixed! on top of that, the service manager, craig refused to do any more work on the vehicle and to take it elsewhere!.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 12/05/2015

After filling gas tank in truck in the process of turning out of the parking lot on to a busy road the truck stalled out and would not start. Since then I have learned that in order to prevent this from happening anytime after filling the truck in the first few miles after driving if o plan to cove to a stop I must change gears in to neutral and rev the engine above 1500 rpm to keep it from dying. I feel that this is a serious safety issue with the risk of being run in to if the truck stalls turning on top a road.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

When filling gas tank after the gas pump handle clicks shut to stop flow from the hose the gas from the tank comes back through the fill line and pours out over the side of the truck, approximately 1 pint so it is quite a spill. This happens at every gas station, I use gasoline with 10% ethanol gas, and if I stop the gas flow from the hose manually it also happens.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

I purchased this vehicle in the fall of 2014. Immediately I began having difficulty filling the fuel tank. The fueling system would continually click off time and again while trying to fill the tank. I did some research and found out that several Chrysler products had this problem with the filler neck. I also learned that Chrysler knew of the problem and had published service bulletins on this but did little to nothing to help the consumer. Even with a discount I had to spend $709 to replace the neck. I am not asking that they do a general recall, but if someone had a problem they should step up and rectify the situation. This is my fifth Dodge ram, but the first time I have sought for Dodge to step up and help.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 11/14/2014

While filling tank fuel kicks back shutting off pump handle. Apparent orvr valve problem requiring entire fuel tank replacement. Seems to be fairly common problem on Dodge trucks.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

After filling up to full tank of gas, truck runs rough and stalls at first couple of stops. Almost got run into from behind by another car. This happens every time you fill up gas.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 08/16/2014

The vehicle was stable at a costco gas station. When filling the fuel tank, gasoline spews out of the filler tube and sprays all over, including on me! the fuel sprayed from out and around the tank filler neck gasket. I called the dealer and asked the service writer what is going on? he said it was probably the roll-over valve that was in the filler neck. He said it could also be the fuel tank itself, which is costly. I asked about warranty or goodwill he said no. The problem, in the beginning, it was happening intermittently, it would splash back occasionally then it blocked the filler completely where I could only fill at a very slow dribble. I stopped driving any more than short distances and could only get a quarter of a tank in at about 25 minutes of holding the nozzle. Not only is it a fire danger, and a caustic chemical it is an environmental problem with gasoline spilling on to the person filling the truck, the ground, and the airborne fuel particles! I had them replace the fuel filler tube and it turns out not to be the problem! now they actually told me at the dealership, mcpeeks Dodge of anaheim that they would not be fixing my car and said to take it elsewhere! this is a very basic safety complaint on a system that is a basic fault of the design. I need help! please contact philip copeland state of California bureau of auto repair, who has done a lot of looking into my complaint. His number is (949) 988-5233. He has contacted the Dodge factory and the dealership that was my goto repair facility. He got nowhere but talked to everyone concerned and has much information. I have a large notebook filled with documentation, please call me (714)747-7601 thanks in advance, robert savoy.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

When filling the gas tank, gas will spray out of the filler neck once tank becomes full using pump auto shut off or manually holding the pump handle.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/07/2014

When filling the gas tank on my Dodge Ram 1500 2010 as the tank gets closer to being full the fuel will overflow out of the tank. I have used different gas station and it is not the gas station. The last several times gas will actually spit or come out of the tank overflowing. I have tried filling the tank slowly by hand and I still have the same problem.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 06/06/2014

When filling gas tank, gas shoots out the top when full. Happens at every gas station. Recently took vehicle to dealership for this issue and a gascap warning light and service engine light. Service advisor at dealership said the fuel inlet valve was leaking at a weld seam. Cost of repair is $1240. 00. When this occurs about a half gallon of gasoline spews onto the cement which at times in phoenix reaches 120 degrees. Plus. Not to mention this could get on me, in my eyes or someone else in the vicinity. This is a huge safety issue and needs to be addressed immediately. After researching this issue I have found that similar vehicles in similar years with the similar engine have had the same issue; such as the 2007 Dodge durango with the 4. 7l v-8 engine.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 02/18/2014

When filling my vehicle with gas the tank gets full and the pump stops but only after spitting fuel all over the ground. This recently started happening but now happens every time I fill up no mater what octane and no matter what station I choose. I would estimate up to a half gallon of gas spills on the ground. Service bulletin at shop alldata repair advised of similar issues being resolved by replacing evap canister, emission system integrity monitor, vapor line & filetr. All these were replaced and still having the same issue. Dealer service department say they have never heard of this issue, yet local shop found the service bulletin. Just waiting for an explosion to happen at this point, let alone the ground pollution from the fuel. Related complaints I was able to find: NHTSA 10561110 10502815 10498166.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

As stated in other complaints, the vehicle will stall after slowing down at intersection of driving in heavy traffic. If you ride the brake and gas, you can keep from stalling. This incident started to happen after a smell of gas vapor smell after filling tank. Researched stalling and gas smell, was led to other scalp notice for hemi gas tank due to ethanol gas causing the rollover valve in the gas tank to expand and not close. When you fill the tank you get liquid gas in the purge vapor canister and line. This giving you the gas smell upon filling. I have stopped filling the tank past 3/4 and have not had the issue since. Kind of disappointed that other hemi models gas tanks were recalled, but not the truck even though it has the same issue.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

When filling up the gas tank and the pump is off gas is expelled from the tank. Dealer examined and stated it was a faulty check valve in the gas tank. The tank needs to be replaced. Seems to be a common occurrence with Dodge gas tanks.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 10/11/2012

When filling tank fuel was spewed back out the filler opening. Could only fuel truck at trickle of fuel from fuel pump. Dealer stated that check valve was stuck and that the fix was a new gas tank at $551. 00 .

22 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 10/07/2011

When I fill up my gas tank fuel always spits out after the pump shuts off. It does it at every filling station I have used. It is like the tank is burping.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 09/13/2007

After filling gas tank full, engine dies when braking and turning a corner (losing steering) and coming to a stop. Starts back up fine, but stalls again on next low speed braking or turning a corner. Very similar to other accounts that I have read. I've had new plugs and O2 sensors costing mucho for zero result. When this occurs slowing down to make a slow turn, I have to throw it up to neutral to restart. Once I threw it in park going slowly, but it was dangerous to screech to a halt with a car behind me almost rear ended me. I've been told the same crap by dealers about this and I know they are playing dumb. The only remedy that I use for this is similar to others which is just don't fill it all the way up unless you are getting right out on the highway to run those speeds and not be stopping. I can't let others drive my truck unless I make sure that the tank is below three quarters of a tank. I can't believe that there's not a quick and dirty fix for this. Seems like you should disable emissions devices in the interest of safety.
