Our 2012 ram 2500 truck with 135k miles, had it's fuel tank fail. The dealership in oak ridge, TN tested the vehicle and found that the gas tank tubes were broken causing us to not be able to fill the tank. The dealership recommended "need to replace gas tank". Mopar aka stellantis does not make the fuel tank anymore, the "replacement" fuel tank does not work (completely wrong configuration), there is not an aftermarket tank. We have a million mile bumper to bumper warranty with mopar. "customer care" does not care.

We were driving down the highway and smelt smoke. We pulled over, I looked under the vehical and there was a fire near the gas tank. I tried to splash water on it but had no luck. Knowing the fire was near the gas tank we got away from the truck and called 911.

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. While the vehicle was parked in the garage, the odor of fuel was present. Upon inspection, the contact noticed a hole in the fuel tank, which caused fuel to leak out. The contact indicated that the hole had been blown out of the tank and was the size of a tennis ball. The vehicle had been parked in the garage for months and had not been driven. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 206,000.

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 that has developed a leak in the gas tank. After doing some research, there are so many owners who are having to replace these tanks that the price has skyrocketed and I cant get one for over a month. This is a safety issue and Dodge should be required to replace these for free. It is going to cost me well over $1,000.
Tl the contact owns a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the band that held the fuel tank was rusted and fractured. The failure was repaired by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 46,649.
When I fill up I smell and see fuel on top of tank. This is a major safety issue. Have read many complaints online.

I brought my truck into the dealer that I bought it from for a recall on my fuel tank in the summer of 2018. They kept my truck for a few days and gave me a loaner. The dealer called me and told me to bring the loaner in and take my truck with no repairs. The service people said that mopar no long carried the tank for my truck after ten (10) years. Inspection is coming up in July of 2019. Other than the fuel tank, my truck is just like it was, when I bought it new. Please help me and others with this problem. I know that I am not the only one with it. Even if I buy another Dodge truck, I am not giving up the truck I have. Please, help me make my next vehicle a Chrysler or Dodge, by treating me right on this one.

Fuel tank is cracked and leaks fuel. I took the vehicle to my mechanic for repairs. My mechanic ordered a new fuel tank from the local Dodge dealer. The Dodge dealer reports the tank is on back order due to 59 fuel tanks on order for the same problem, that is cracked fuel tanks on Dodge pickups.
When I stop for gas, I try to fill the gas tank, gas comes gushing out from around the tank opening. This has happened several times. About a pint or more sprays out all over me the side of my vehicle and the ground. I am afraid of the volatility of the gas so I won't take a photo for fear of a spark. Not only is this physical getting fuel on my person but an environment hazard too. Need help soon the factory won't do anything about it although they have fixed similar trucks that do the exact same thing, they say I am not covered! they say it is happening because of the roll-over valve sticking. Not only am I at risk of burning up at the station, I could be incinerated in a roll-over crash!!.
Vent valve is cracked on fuel tank. Dealer let me know that it is such a common problem that they have no tanks available and they are back ordered. Seems they should have a system in place to replace just the valve not the whole tank. With gas leaking out the vent valve there is concern for a fire.

After the fuel tank is completely filled and the gas station refueling pump stops about a half a gallon of gasoline will violently spray out of the vehicle's refueling tube. This creates a puddle of fuel and often sprays on me. The spray comes out of the hole you insert the refueling nozzle into. I owed a 2006 Dodge durango with the same engine that had the exact same issue. I'm sure this is a common issue with this manufacturer.
Fuel tank inlet check valve has failed, not allowing fuel to enter gas tank during fill ups at gas station. Under a warranty extension (x49) vehicles between mdh #020108-063023 are accepted although the same part and issue is coming up on my vehicle with mdh # 110821 of the same model year. It is not covered under a very limited recall used to cover for a much larger problem concerning made vehicles manufactured under Chrysler. This is a much larger and widely reported problem than the manufacturer is representing due to the large recall and repair costs it would take on. The consumer must now replaced the whole fuel tank due to the fuel tank inlet valve being molded into the tank, which is extremely costly.
Vehicle engine will die/stall when gas is full, especially when going around corners or stopping quickly as in for an emergency. Sometimes just dies when slowing down. Seems to be related to gas moving around in the gas tank when it is full or close to full. When vehicle dies power steering and brakes are also lost making it difficult to maintain control and it quickly becomes a dangerous situation trying to maintain control of a vehicle that weights thousands of pounds while moving along a busy street. Very dangerous.
Driving and the vehicle quit. Not getting gas. Have a half tank of gas.
After the fuel tank is filled, when slowing down or coming to a stop the vehicle will stall and die in traffic and is slow to restart. The dash shows a "check gauges" light, however there are no codes thrown. The dealer has said that the fuel tank needs to be replaced but if this is the case is seems that it is a design flaw.
When the gas tank on this truck is filled to capacity, the truck will stall when making a left hand turn. The truck cannot be filled to the "full" mark. If it is it will stall when making a left hand turn. This has happened many times. The only way to avoid it is to not fill the gas tank completely full.
The contact owns a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving approximately 30 mph, a loud banging noise emitted outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road. The contact noticed that the fuel tank was completely detached. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was invalid. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Ram 1500. Whenever the vehicle was filled with fuel, the fuel tank would spew the fuel back out. The contact was unable to add fuel to the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
When you fill up the gas tank gas shoots out the filler hole. Its not like normal vehicle when the gas handle clicks and stops. On my Dodge ram, the gas nozzle stops but as soon as it does gas come pouring out my filler hole. This is got to be a safety issue. If you search the internet im the only one with this problem.
I purchased my vehicle 7 days ago. I have discovered a dangerous issue that only presents itself immediately after refueling. At low speeds in, turning, or while maneuvering through traffic the truck will chug and then die. Leaving my vehicle without power steering and little braking ability. It happened twice after fueling Friday, and then again three times after fueling today. Two of the three times I was in heavy traffic and was almost in a collision by unsuspecting drivers behind me. The third time I was turning onto a sharp on ramp to merge into traffic. Thankfully it died at the bottom of the ramp and not at the top where I would have been in traffic. And thankfully my wife wasn't driving, because without power steering her and my two daughters would have likely straightened out the on ramp and found themselves at the bottom of a steep bank. If this would happen while crossing a busy intersection a collision would be highly likely with fatalities for sure. The problem lasts for about the fist ten to fifteen miles of driving, and dies at lower speeds 0-25 mph. I have read about NHTSA investigations into other Chrysler vehicles presenting the same issues, and where the warranties have been extended on the fuel tanks to resolve the issue. These warranties must be extended to the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 as well in order to resolve this issue before someone is caught in traffic and killed.
Second owner vehicle bought Aug 2015 with approximately 32000 miles. Every time fuel is added to the vehicle, no matter which pump I use, fuel gushes from the filler neck of the vehicle. This occurs even if I fill the tank slowly not using the automatic filler on the pump. If the tank is filled to full it will overflow. Approximately a pint of gasoline shoots out of the filler neck and down the side of the vehicle onto the ground and myself. This is a well documented complaint with these vehicles. Please tell Chrysler to fix this environmental and safety hazard.
While fueling truck on several occasions when the tank is full and the pump shuts off, fuel flys back out of the fill neck. This needs to be fixed ASAP and Dodge knows about it with all the complaints I see on here. Thank you if you can help get this fixed for me.
This has been happening at every fill up. Once I fill the tank, for approximately 20 or so miles after the fillup, my truck tries to stall if I don't rev the engine up really high. . At stop lights or turns, it will stall completely. I have also had to stall on the interstate at speed! once I drive 20 or so miles it stops. I have heard from many owners that it has something to do with a fuel vent or something. Apparently this is quite a common problem that should be looked into. Thank you for your time.
The contact owns a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving at an unknown speed, a strong fuel odor emitted from the cabin. An independent technician diagnosed that the fuel tank in house fuel line fractured prematurely causing the fuel to leak on top of the fuel tank and onto the ground. The mechanic advised that the fuel line need to be replaced but the parts needed were no longer available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 181,000.

Date complaint filed: 03/03/2014 component(s): fuel system, gasoline date of incident: 01/15/2014 NHTSA id number: 10566905 I have the same exact problem as the complaint listed above. I have had three events of gas spewing out after the pump clicks off. The most recent prompted me to take my truck to the local Dodge dealer and they replaced the fuel filler tube and vapor canister. The dealer clearly states in the receipt for the work that if this doesn't correct the problem the gas tank will have to be replaced.

Filled up the fuel tank with gas and it just started running on the ground for about a few minutes.
Every time I fill the truck with gas, once the tank is full the nozzle shuts off and a second later gas overflows out of the filler tube all over me the truck and the ground. I have found that this has been an issue with other Chrysler vehicles and they have been repaired. This is a very major safety issue. The dealer noe Chrysler will repair without charge.

I purchased this 2004 Dodge on January 5th 2015. I was to return on January 7th to have different tires & rims installed. On the way I stopped and filled the gas tank. Afterwards every stop sign I came to the vehicle stalled out. It started right back up but continued to stall at every stop sign. The mechanic at redding truck & auto diagnosed that the crank sensor was bad and replaced it at no charge. It ran fine until I filled the gas tank again and started having the same problems with it stalling out. So now if I fill the tank it will stall out until I drive it for several miles or until I run some of the gas out of the tank. I was told not to fill the tank which is not a fix for this problem.
The contact owns a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500. When the engine was started, the rear of the vehicle emitted a fuel odor and fuel leaked from the fuel tank. The contact stated that the vehicle shook while the engine was running. The contact received a recall notice for the fuel tank rollover valve. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that the vehicle already received the recall repair; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage and NHTSA campaign number were unknown.

Just like everyone else who owns a Dodge,I went to fuel up the truck and it went all over the ground rather than in the tank. . . Took it to the dealer. . . Check valve bad. . . Need new tank. . . . Never buy Dodge again. .
When trying to fuel my vehicle at gas pump, gas began spewing and gurgling from the tank. I could get no more than around a gallon in the tank without it spewing gas back out all over my truck and the ground. I tried pumping slower, pulling nozzle in and out of tank, and waiting a while. I had no luck. I subsequently tried again two more times a week apart and still can't get gasoline into my vehicle without it spewing out. Upon reviewing this problem online I found a term used for this problem. "spitback. " I also found that many Chrysler vehicles have had this problem. Also, it would appear that if it's a certain issue, the entire tank may need to be replaced for a simple little valve which is inaccessible otherwise.
Cannot add fuel to vehicle tank. Stops after a few seconds. Service department knocked the plastic ball into the tank (thinking this would work, it didn't) that stops gas siphoning. Still cannot fill tank. Truck has 91,000 miles and have always put the same gas (93 octane) .
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle at various speeds, after refueling the vehicle would stall. The contact stated that the failure only occurred after refueling, and only when the fuel tank was filled. The contact stated that the fuel tank vent valve failed, which caused fuel to enter the vapor canister under the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Ah.
