1 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 01/21/2017

I was pulling out of a shopping mall turning left on the hwy 5 in holly springs GA when I was struck by another vehicle that ran a red light. The impact to my truck was just in front of the drivers side front wheel. The bumper was crushed all the way to the frame and the frame was bent over 1 foot. The truck had both front and side air bags and none of them went off. My head hit the side of the drivers window and doctors are saying I may need both shoulder and neck surgery. I believe this would not be the case if the air bags had deployed. While I was not traveling very fast, the other car was traveling fast enough to total my truck.

5 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 08/31/2016

Takata recall- I received a recall notice for the passenger side airbag, late 2015. Received notice that part was available August 2016. I only used the vehicle for limited use while waiting for the replacement part. When I brought the truck in to have the airbag replaced, they told me they checked the part number on my airbag and it's good, it doesn't need to be replaced. So I lost the use of my vehicle for the last several months because a recall shouldn't have been issued or is it that Chrysler didn't want to spend the 15 minutes to check the part number when the issue first arose?.

8 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/07/2016

Takata recall I was notified in June 2016, that my truck was part of the takata passenger-side airbag recall. I contacted the local dealer and was told on 7/7/2016, that they would notify me when parts were available. According to the paperwork on the filing, I am in priority group 2. It was my understanding, that I could expect the recall repair to my vehicle to be repaired by the end of 2016. It is now 3 days from the end of the year and I have received no further notifications from Dodge about the recall or any information about when I can expect it to be completed. In reading some of the information, it appears that it may now be fixed by March 2017. I understand part supply is part of the issue, but the manufacturers have known about this for several years now and should be prepared to fix this in a much more timely manner than up to 10 months (March 2017) later. I experienced a similar delay in getting the drivers side airbag repaired. Can I please get some information on what the NHTSA is doing to push the manufacturers to repair unsafe vehicles in a more timely manner? I am waiting for a reply from the dealer to see if they have any more information.

18 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 05/26/2015

Nhtsa takata recall #'s 16v-325 and 15v-313. . . It had to have my drivers side airbag removed in may of 2015 and now my passenger side air back has to be replaced. In may of 2015 I was put on a list at my local Dodge dealer to have the parts once available to be installed. Its been over 2 years and they still do not have the parts available to install in my vehicle. They have also put me on the list for the list to have the passenger side airbag replaced. My issue is that I have to drive a vehicle that not only has an inoperable airbag, but also has one that can rupture. Its unsafe and what happens if I get into a collision with non functioning airbags! my safety is at risk as well as any passengers I carry. I did not purchase this vehicle to have non functioning or incorrectly functioning components due to manufacturer default. A remedy to this situation should be established in a timely manner before someone else is killed or seriously injured due to these defects. Please note federal motor vehicle safety standard number 208 (49 cfr 571. 208 . . . . . . . . . This issue is of an immediate safety concern. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

19 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

I filed a complaint in regards to the airbags on my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. Chrysler contacted me to tell me I needed to call my local Dodge dealership to have my passenger side airbag fixed. I explained to them I have already spoken with the dealers and they keep telling me I will be added to a wait list with no answer as to how long it will be before they reach my name and that I am also on a wait list to have the part put in on my drivers side airback which I took in for a recall in early 2015! it still has not been fixed. They emailed saying they tried to contact me via phone at a number which is incorrect. I have given them my current phone number on multiple times. I just get the run around when I try to call them. I am now getting emails from them about this recall as if they are trying to cover their asses but when I contact the dealership for repairs it's always the same response and that is I will be put on a waitlist. This issue is a major safety concern and I would like it remedied . I have been waiting over two years going on three for these new parts to be installed.

21 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 03/06/2015

I am writing to complain about the recall process in general. I received a recall on a vehicle we purchased for our son. He drives it everyday. The notice indicated to call on Feb 23. So far I have had 4 dealers tell me they don't even have parts to fix the issue and that we could be looking at 6-8 weeks. Today I have 1 tell me that there are 2 recalls on this vehicle. 1 for each airbag. Does this process seem broken when something as crucial to driver and passenger safety takes 6-8 weeks to correct. Really? let's just roll the dice I guess and hope nothing happens between now and the time we are able to get this addressed. What's more troubling is I am told that the recall we received for the passenger airbag does have parts on the way, albeit 6-8 weeks away, the passenger side airbag parts are not even in the works. Are you kidding me.

22 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 12/23/2014

I received a letter that my truck was recalled for the drivers side air bags and parts are not available. 4 months later the parts are still not available and no one can tell me if it is safe to drive my truck. I have read all kinds of things and they make it sound like it is not safe but you never know. What am I suppose to tell my wife and 2 year old son. The dealers say they are not offering loaner or rental cars so I have no option but to drive my truck. My dealer did say to try to limit the driving until the parts come in which could be a year yet. How are you suppose to do that? I really think they need to be providing loaners to the vehicles that the drivers side air bag is affected. I am really hoping I am not in a accident or anything because no one knows what could happen. This really needs to be taken serious as there has been people seriously injured and killed.

31 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2001 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/23/2010

While my daughter was driving home late one night, she fell asleep and hit a large tree. She lives in CA. While I am in CO. The truck she was in, a Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 extended cab, was a total loss. She was flown into a hospital 90 or so miles away. She was wearing her seat belt, as was her passenger. My daughter broke some ribs, her arm, and her pelvis in 8 places. Her left leg was attached by skin and muscle only. The passenger side airbag fully deployed, whereas the drivers side did not fully deploy. By what I have seen during my research of this incident, and seeing the truck, her airbag should have deployed. As a matter of fact, it tried. According to the carfax I pulled, it has never been in an accident, and was purchased from the federal government, who would,I assume, have a vehicle repaired properly if it had been involved in an accident.

33 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1999 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 02/12/2010

The dashboard on my truck has broken into many pieces. These pieces have fallen into the passenger side airbag. If these pieces were to be expelled in the event of an airbag deployment, severe injury could result from flying shrapnel. This problem is very prevelant in Dodge ram trucks. Something must be done. Owners should not be required to pay an average of $750 to repair an obvious defect in materials. I personally know 4 people in my town with the exact problem. There are hundreds of complaints that owners have posted online. This dangerous condition must be remediated.
