Takata recalls. On 10/05/2016 took my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 into gerry wood auto group, salisbury, nc, to replace a recalled air bag along with additional work. 10/07/2026 vehicle was return ed to me. 10/05 1017 took my vehicle back to gerry wood because the warning airinf air bag light was on. A check found the squib circuit and air bag shorted. 10/09/2017 returned my vehicle because the warning light was coming on and 10/10/2017 the vehicle was returned to me. I was told if the condition continued the shop would have to replace the occupant restraint controller (orc). I was also told that I would have to pay for the replacement of the orc. Never had a problem with the orc until the mechanics replaced the air bag. Any problem with the air bag that were not a problem prior to the mechanics replacing the part should be the responsibility of gerry wood dealership. Please adivise huber r. Ijames sgmrete9@gmail. Takata recall. Contacted local dealer about 3-4 weeks ago to make an appointment and was told that there were 63 persons ahead of me. The dealer took my name and phone number and said they would contact me when it was my turn. I stopped in at the dealer this date to check on my status and to get a better idea of how much longer it would take and it was discovered they did not have me on their list. They took my information again and the service representative told me they were only getting 6 replacement bags at a time about every week or ten days or so. My concern is that it could take up to two months for me to get my vehicle corrected. Considering the potential hazards associated with this recall, I do not feel this is a reasonable timeframe for this to be corrected. The airbag warning light on my instrument cluster has been on now for several months and before I even received this recall notice. When I brought it into the dealer to have it checked out, they did not know what the problem was.

The vehicle was diagnosed by a mechanic who advised the contact that the front air bag sensor failed and caused the inadvertent air bag deployment. The contact was also advised of a recall describing the failure he experienced under NHTSA campaign id number: 99v02300 (air bags: frontal). The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall. Additionally, the manufacturer advised the contact that the parts needed for the recall repairs were no longer being manufactured. The contact was concerned because he had not been made aware of the recall until after the failure had been experienced. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000. Kmj.

Accelerating from stop light and at 35 mph a loud explosion was heard from the passenger dash area. I thought I saw some powdery dust afterward. Took the truck to the dealership and explained what happened. They did a drb computer test and road test. Nothing found. Also there were no dash warning lights. When it happened my first thought was the air bag charge went off, but why didn't the bag come out.
