Sway Bar Problems of Dodge Ram 1500

The entire front end of my truck has been going out. Tie rods, sway bar end links, cv axles, upper and lower ball joints. My back glass isn't sealed properly and pours water in the cab when it rains drenching my passengers or whatever I am carrying in the backseat, the water pools up under the seats and I routinely have to mask the smell from it.

The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving approximately 60 mph, the front end of the vehicle shook and vibrated violently. After stopping the vehicle, it was discovered that the front sway bars detached and the steering control arms separated due to rusting of the subframe. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was 158,888.

Driving down the road my front left strust blew out without warning and at same time the front sway bar broke off on same side it was hard to control I slowed down n stopped and had truck hauled to dealership dealership woouldnt change both front struts said other one looked fine charged me 750 dollars and one month latter oposite side strut blew out n sway arm snapped off. . And now I have problems where the rear end of my truck walks all over the road.

Dodge ram 2008 quad cab 1500 series. At the time I called into Dodge I had roughly 60 thousand miles on my truck. I contacted Dodge in 2014 and they told me although that was the model and series that was part of a recall that my particular VIN was not eligible for a recall . The problems I had endured were swaying of the truck almost to the extent where the tire felt like it was wobbling and the truck shaking when I excellerated over 50 mphs . It was at that time when I took a road trip for memorial day weekend 2014 when this started getting progressively worse and I pretty much had to drive 40 miles an hour the i75 freeway because the car felt like it was going to flip over when I was excellerating. It was right there after that I contacted Dodge to make a complaint and they told me although I had the year and make of the ram but my particular VIN was not eligible for any recall. So there after I had to replace my tie rods and the sway bar at my own expense and also replace my tires not too long after that which were new from the dealer when I bought it used in 2011. My biggest fear was the vehicle that was the safest of the 2 my family owns was now a risk to my children,my spouse and I. I also had fellow vacationers in the vehicle with me which witnessed the vehicle shaking obsessively when we were accelerating.

I bought this truck brand new in 07. I have had problems with the front end from day one. I took it in to the shop 3 or for times when under warranty for them to tell me nothing was wrong. The set of tires I have on it is the forth set due to wearing out. The truck pulls hard to the right, took it in for an alignment and was told it wasn't out & that something was wrong with the front end. This wasn't a Dodge dealer. When you get up to 60 mph, the truck starts shaking very bad. If I hit a bump or go across a bridge, it jerks the steering wheel very bad & almost caused a wreck. I have replaced the shocks, the bushing's on the sway bar, & brakes and rotors thinking this could maybe be the problem. It still does it till this day. I seen where some 07 mega cabs have been recalled & in my opinion I think they need to take a look at all 07 Dodge Ram 1500 models.

After speaking to several 2008 Dodge ram owners (on Dodge forum & face to face) we all have the same concerns with this vehicle. There is a severe handling issue at highway speeds that causes an uncontrollable rear suspension hop. This in turn results in severe handling issues that have led in some cases to spin outs and fishtailing. The newer Dodge ram models are equipped with sway bars or anti sway bars so it shows that the engineers recognized the problem. I've spent numerous dollars and time having the tires balanced, rotated and rims checked as well as buying new tires in trying to eliminate this dangerous condition.
