3 Air Bag problem of the 2001 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. In 2003, I noticed parts of the dash, starting to break apart. In 2004, I had a major head on collision, and the airbag, did not deploy. The damage was extensive, with bent frame. The damage was $17,000 in 2004. I was told by the Chrysler dealership, that did the repairs, that they could not check the condition of the airbag wiring, because the dashboard was broken. I wonder how many others out there, that have the same issue, with the dashboard, and don't have a working airbag. The other issue I have, is the seatbelt tensioner, has caused the seatbelt, to get chewed up. The belt, is now, no more than an inch wide.

11 Air Bag problem of the 2000 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

The dash has completely desegregated exposing all the wires, air conditioning unit, and airbag parts. This is a huge hazard because my headlight switch hangs with nothing to attach to. My airbags are completely visible and could explode at anytime. Everything that was in the dash heated seat, headlight, air system, radio, speedometer, and airbag controls are completely visible and all attachments are completely desegregated I do not know if this also caused the loose steering in my vehicle but I assume it did the steering wheel will turn about a quarter turn before it ever engages the wheels and when driving you must constantly move the wheel back and forth to keep the car in the road I feel as though this is a major issue that has not been recalled in the Dodge rams all models of my year truck that has been reported several times and should be fixed there are plenty of these trucks on the road still and all have the same issues I cannot afford another vehicle and would like for mine to be recalled and fixed so I can drive it safely without worrying about the airbags deploying or the steering being so lose it causes me to have a accident. When the plastic degenerates it also leaves extremely sharp edges that will cut you extremely deep I have been cut several times getting things from the dash pad I have lid across it covering the gapping hole. Thank you for your time and consideration . Side note I tried to upload pictures of the dash or what's left of it but it would not let me.

18 Air Bag problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/25/2018

I had the takata airbag recall completed at the local Dodge dealership (auto nation, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, ram southwest, 7980 w. Tufts Ave. , littleton, CO 80123), and I can tell that my airbags were not replaced. They appear to have been wiped down, as there is dirt in patterns of the texture and cracks. A new airbag would not be dirty. It is my understanding that the airbags should have been replaced, as the paperwork that I received after picking up my truck from the service department at the Dodge dealership says that the airbags were replaced. I will include photos with this report. The airbag recalls were performed on 05/25/2018, and todays date is 05/31/2018. The dirt accumulated in the creases of the airbags, and within the texture of the airbags, is not indicative of six to seven days worth of dust accumulation. Upon first glance when picking up the truck the airbags looked clean; however, after close inspection, today, it is evident that they were not replaced. The invoice from the Dodge dealership indicates 1 part issued for the driver airbag and 1 part issued for the passenger airbag, indicating that they should have been replaced. Please note that a third recall was addressed, which was the replacement of the steering linkage, which is clearly a new part on my truck. The issue with the vehicle occurred at the dealership service department, when parts were to be replaced per a safety recall, but were not replaced.

Takata recall. Just got my 3rd phone call from Chrysler today. The result of the first 2 calls I've received in the past were that no parts were actually available. The result of this phone call was 3 local dealerships put the Chrysler caller on hold and then hung up on her. I have been trying for a very long time to get my truck in for this recall. It is obvious that Chrysler and their dealers are not serious about this serious safety concern.

29 Air Bag problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/22/2017

Takata airbag I received a letter regarding the recall and I went on line so that I would be notified when the part became available. After receiving notice the part was available I called the dealer to make an appointment. They couldn't get me in for 2 weeks. I dropped the truck off at ron tonkin Dodge in milwaukie or. They called and notified me that the part was back ordered for another month. I live 45 miles away and making arraignments for a pick up ride to and from dealer is not easy. Why am I getting letters telling me the parts are available when they are not. This has been going on for over almost a year from the time I registered on line until today. I thought I had the truck sold with the stipulation I had all recalls and service up to date. The buyer does not want to wait for a month. They will buy another truck. After all this, I am not happy. I tried the phone numbers on the notification, I get a very fast busy signal. I hope no one is injured during the wait.

30 Air Bag problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/08/2017

Takata recall, while looking up the status of the passenger ab recall, I found out that replacement ab were available. I had not received a notice that parts were available as I did for the driver side ab. When I called the dealer that replaced the driver side to find out when I could bring my truck in to have the passenger side replaced I was told that they didn't have any replacements in stock, but they could order one, this was on 5/26/17. After two weeks went by without getting a call that my ab had come in, I called the dealer on 6/5/17, and found out that a recall ab part had arrived and that the dealer didn't think it was important to call & let me know that they could fix my truck. I had to schedule an appointment, not for that day or the next day, but 3 days later. So on 6/8/17, I finally had a serious recall item replaced, but it was only because I followed up on it. Then I had to have the dealer order the ab and call to find out why I hadn't been notified when the part came in. Final straw was having to wait over three days to have part installed, when it should have been worked in the day I called. I feel that fca doesn't care about a 12 year old vehicle needing an airbag replaced that endangered not only my life, but the life of anyone that choose to ride in my vehicle for over 13 months. That type of disregard for a previous customer is disgraceful and shows a complete lack of concern for anyone owning one of their vehicles. I'm really writing to let you know that if I hadn't been checking on this regularly, I would still have a defective ab in my truck. Something is wrong with the parts available notification system with this recall system, especially when the dealer has to order a recall part and then can't notify me when the part is available. Then having to wait to get an appointment to have installed for 3 days. Thank you, dan mccaffrey.
