Dodge Ram 2500 owners have reported 32 problems related to front driver side air bag inflator (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Takara inflators April 28th 2019 we took our truck to the Dodge dealership to have the recalls fixed as they requested. Mainly the airbags and they did a 28 point inspection. July 1st 2019 someone pulled out in front of my husband and they were involved in a bad accident. The airbags never went off. My husband hit the steering wheel so hard there's a bruise and mark on his chest and the shape of the steering wheel. It also messed up the steering column and the gear selector. The truck is totaled the frame is bent the suspensions ripped off but we can't figure out why the airbags didn't go off. Insurance is being a pain. Dodge said they'd send out an investigator so far no one showed up. Something should be done about this.

Took vehicle into jacksons of enid, 4405 w owen garriott rd, enid, ok 73703 on 4/27/17 for safety recall related work on passenger air bag inflator and outer tie rod assembly. Air bag light was coming on sporadically and increasingly often. Work performed, if any, by jacksons of enid did not solve the problem. Air bag light came on within a mile of the business and continues at various speeds and for longer periods of time. Outer tie rod assembly??? can't tell. . What am I supposed to do? wait until the airbag inflates while I am driving, possibly injuring myself or others? or maybe lose a front wheel? this is not the only disturbing encounter that I have experienced at this business. Call me ((580) 984-1200). I do not trust jacksons of enid and they are the only game in town. Tried to contact bbb, but they are not bbb affiliated. Go figure.

Takata recall. I received a interim notice s43/NHTSA 16v-352 for passenger airbag inflator on 7/1/2016. It stated metal fragments striking occupants resulting in serious injury/death. Also stated no parts available. Which tells me no passengers in our largest 6 seater vehicle. 10/5/2016 I emailed mopar to add to "on email list" for parts hoping to get problem fixed ASAP, no response. Feb. 17, 2017 I went to local dealer who also looked up recall and stated still no parts to protect your family. What is the hold up? my 6 seater truck gets used everyday, can you help!.

Takata recall complaint recall number r26 / NHTSA 15v-312 I took my truck to the dealership to get the recalled passenger takata airbag inflator replaced under the recall. I was told by one of the service advisors that Dodge will replace any parts that are broken free of charge during the replacement of the inflators. Well that was a lie, as you can see that the dashboard on this same 2003 Ram 2500 model has many complaints about it cracking and literally breaking apart due it becoming brittle. Mine has 5 cracks on the dashboard and it is blowing broken pieces out the vents into my face while driving due to the problem with the dashboards. Well then the dealership advised me that the dashboard will crack and break into pieces during the replacement of the faulty takata inflator and they wanted me to pay to replace the dashboard and other associated parts that will break apart during the replacement so I declined the repair. They told me that since my dashboard has cracks already that they would not pay for the parts that would break during the replacement of the inflator. I do not have the money to replace the entire dashboard. So now every time my wife is a passenger in the truck I have to worry about her getting injured worse in an accident due the faulty inflator. I find this unacceptable that Dodge installed cheap plastic dashboards and now I have a defective inflator that can not be replaced with out costing me thousands of dollars due to the defective dashboards. I think Dodge should pay for everything since they used faulty parts and the recall repairs should not cost me anything to get it fixed no matter how many parts they have to replace free of charge attached is the repair ticket I received from the dealership.

Takata recall I received a recall notice on my 2004 Dodge 2500 pickup. The recall is dealing with the front passenger air bag. Apparently the airbag inflator "may rupture and result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death". I called the recall notification number so that I could be put onto a list, so that when the parts come in, I would be notified. I wouldn't have been too worried, except the last time they sent me a recall notice (may 2015) for the drivers airbag, I still had not received the notice that the parts were in. When I called, a person said that she could set up the first recall repair, but the arts weren't in and wouldn't be available until 2017. I set up the appointment. I am pissed off (not good for me). I have had a vehicle with airbag inflators that "may rupture and result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death" and Chrysler doesn't seem concerned. America, when do we stop accepting mediocre from companies like this? why is this acceptable? NHTSA, why is this okay with you?.
July 2016 we received notice about the passenger airbag inflator must be replaced. This is taking way too long to be fixed. We are a city dept. In chesapeake va that provides mosquito control.
Front passenger airbag inflator. This is a city vehicle that helps provide mosquito control services to the citizens of chesapeake, va. It's taking way too long for this part to be fixed.
Takata inflator: it has been a year since I've received official recall notification, frequently inquire, yet told there are no inflators. I'm an automotive engineer, and understand the hazard involved and can act as professional witness. Why isn't NHTSA resolving a very serious safety issue? when will this get fixed or whom do I sue?.
"takata recall" the notices regarding this recall state it should "remedy this defect without charge and within a reasonable time". Who defines "reasonable"? I received the mailed notice of this s43/16v-352 on may 24, 2016 and I have been unable to use the truck on several trips I wished to take because of the uncertain situation. My truck has spent its entire live in florida and is within the time frame where they state the inflator is most likely to rupture. I think waiting over 6 months is more than reasonable and I want to file a complaint against fca for this lack of action.

Takata inflator. I received your written notice. I e-mailed a reply on 7/15/16. So far on 1/16/17 I have not heard from either you folks or my local dealer about replacing the passenger side air bag. Are the proper air bags available to the local dealer in odgen utah or near by dealer?.
Takata recall dealer still does not have parts to replace the passenger airbag inflator.

2004 Dodge Ram 2500. Consumer writes in regards to defective driver and passenger airbag inflator recall notices. The consumer stated he has been trying to get the recalls fixed for several months. The dealer stated the parts were not available.
I received a recall notice informing me that the air bag inflator could injure me if deployed. I called dealer and was informed that I will have to wait 1 month to have it inspected. I asked to have it disabled until it can be replaced and was told that the earliest time to have it looked at is August 31. In the meantime I'm expected to drive my vehicle with a possible hand grenade in the steering wheel. I feel that Dodge and their dealers are not resolving this safety issue in a timely manner. If the airbag is unsafe, then it should be disabled immediately.

Dealer not able to respond timely to important safety recall. Driver airbag inflator housing may rupture due to excessive internal pressure, during normal airbag deployment. This could result in metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the vehicle occupants.
I purchased my p/u new 2003. I received a notice of recall for defective air bag inflator housing - p78. Today I called my dealer, mid county Chrysler in port arthur, TX , to set up an appointment as instructed on the notice. They refused to set up the appointment and reported " the parts are not available". I asked to added to a call list to schedule an appointment once the parts were available and they refused saying " we are not allowed to actuate a list, you have to call back to schedule appointment at a later date. By not having a call list to put my name on, the dealer is making it my responsibility to get my car repaired. In the past had a recall on a Ford vehicle which ended up never being repaired because, that dealer kept telling me that they didn't have the part or didn't have the time to take care of the problem. I did call over and over and over again with that one. It did no goo. . . . . Now it is seemly starting all over again ! I think they need to have a call back list for when the parts are available and get this issued fixed. . . This is a safety issue ! I think this is not my responsibility, I didn't build the 2003 pick up or sell it ! now it feels like they are running out on what is expected of them. . . Just like the Ford dealer did! only this time I am not wiling to keep calling like the last time ! if they have been sued to make this a recall issue or someone was injured because of it, you would think that they are responsible and liable ! they should be taking a bit more of solving the problem ! thank you, frank j brown owner of 2003 Dodge p/u.
Your recall notice information is incorrect. As follows. . . Is required for full public disclosure. Air bag inflators. . . Drivers side. . . P40 / NHTSA 14v-354 ( not listed on your recall list. ) this is the drivers air bag. . ! air bag inflators. . Pass. Side. . P78 / NHTSA 14v-770 ( only the passenger side is on your warning list to consumers).
I received a recall notice about the passenger air bag inflator housing in February and one for the drivers air bag inflator housing four months later. I have checked with the dealer (athens Dodge Chrysler Jeep) several times and their response each time is they do not have the parts and might not have them for another six months.
My 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 has been affected by Chrysler recall p40 / NHTSA 14v-354. I took my vehicle into the local Chrysler / Dodge dealership and they determined that I had defective airbag inflators and initiated a parts order to replace them. Almost 8 months have elapsed and they still have not received the parts from Chrysler. Chrysler has not fixed this defect in a timely manner.
There was no incident. I am complaining that we keep getting recall notice for passenger airbag inflator housing. The dealer says that they are keep being told that it is on back order. The dealer states that they have several customers waiting for this recall part. They encouraged me to contact you for assistance. The dealer ordered our part in January 2015.

Takata inflators. I have been trying to get this repaired for over a year and I use my truck a lot but am afraid to carry my wife and children in the truck. We usually camp quite often during the summer but I can't pull our RV for worrying about the possibility that if we're in an accident the air bags may injure or even kill my family. As long as it's been seems like parts would be available. I would rather have my airbags turned off but the dealer says they can't. I would rather do without the airbags rather than take a chance that they could do more harm than good. Looks like I need to get rid of the truck and purchase a truck that I can carry my family in.

My complaint refers to NHTSA-safety recall number: r26/nhtsa15v-312; recall date: may 29,2015. Involving the takata airbag inflators: my vehicle was named: 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with a cummins diesel by the manufacturer, Chrysler, dba ""fca- us -llc pobx 218008, auburn hills michigan. One week later,I notified my local Dodge dealer: (huntington new york Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, ram located at 1220 east jericho turnpike, huntington, new york 11743, phone: 1-866-525-7118. I called the dealership today and their reply was, "the part to correct this is still not in". This is a very serious health & safety issue. It has been 8 months since my recall notice. I want your agency to determine if Chrysler has put a plan in place to deliver the parts to the dealers and what is the specific timeline and provide the public with the name, job title, address & phone number of the persons at Chrysler who are being held accountable for this remedy, yet to be performed.
When applying the brakes, the consumer states' the brakes sometime lock up. Consumer states vehicle slid 120 feet into a telephone pole. None of the airbags deployed. Please provide any further information. Ts.
