The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. While parked after a short drive, the driver's door lock actuator failed in an unsafe mode (locked). Failure mode caused door to remain locked despite key turn effort to unlock. In addition, the door cannot be unlocked by lifting the manual lock control near the driver's left elbow. This single point of failure resulted in no way to enter the vehicle since there is not a key access to the right front door. A keyless entry system option mitigates the risk, but is not always installed. If an injured person or small child was inside the vehicle and unable to actuate the door handle from inside, it would not be possible for them to be helped in their egress from outside. This failure mode is so common that there are youtube videos on the part replacement. Ignoring the safety implication of this high frequency single point of failure is unconscionable on the part of the manufacturer.

While driving approximately 10 mph over a bump, the steering wheel seized and something on the front end felt loose. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician diagnosed that the upper ball joint and stabilizer bar needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the dashboard was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. I left the truck running, I walked about 20 feet away while doing some cleaning on my property and when I turned around I saw what looked like the ground on fire. It looked like fire dripping down from underneath the truck and in no time the truck burned to the ground. What do I need to do at this point? should I get an attorney?.

Brakes failed when applied. Abs and brake warning lights came on with very little braking. After hard braking application the tires locked and slid about 5 inches in damp backtop and hit a car stopped at a light. Had plenty of time to brake but no or very little braking action. Later inspection showed that one of the brake lines rusted through and lost pressure. This is the second time this has happened. These trucks are prone to brake line rusting. Driver seemed to be fine and drove away after exchanging info. He later claimed injury.

08/16/2014, dash board was intact and no flaws noted---------------on 08/17/2014, overnight, the dash was found split in two, my biggest concern is that this crack ( with sharp jagged edges ) is located directly over the passenger air bag. Should the bag deploy, it would likely be punctured and my passenger injured. I feel this safty hazzard should be Dodge's responsibility to rectify.

Driver side rear passenger interior door lock and interior light does stopped working over a year ago. I figured it was a selonoid or a loose connection in the door so I put it off. Just recently 10/11/2015 I took the time to take the door apart and check all the connections. I had power to the speaker and window and nothing to the lock and interior light doesn't come on when the door is open. So I then checked for loose connections everything good. I then checked the connection between the cab and the door and I had a good clean connection. I then pulled back the rubber wire loom between the cab and the door and I found 4 unevenly cut wires. I did not fix them I left the connector disconnected. This is could be a extremely dangerous not to mention potentially deadly fire hazard. Some how the loom is cutting the wires and could result in severe injury and or death.

Chrome finish coming off plastic grille, bubbling and peeling. Very cheaply made (most likely china. ) have seen many more rams that look just like mine. Actually very common. More have this problem than not. Dodge says tough luck.

Vehicle was in motion when I identified a large crack had form in the center of the dashboard above the radio from front to rear. As I drive each day I have more and more cracks forming in all directions with sharp/angular pieces unexpectedly falling into the dash and the cab of the truck. I am concerned about the safety of myself and my passengers especially when I consider what might happen when the airbag deploys as designed, causing the dash to explode and send projectiles throughout the cab. I contacted Chrysler back in 2013 and was told by a representative that this defect is not a warranty issue because of the time since the purchase date. Since then the damage has become more severe and I am concerned that pieces falling behind the dash they will interfere with my ability to control the vehicle (acceleration/braking). These concerns represent significant safety issues that were not disclosed to me when I purchased back in 2003.

I was driving in my truck with my friend on sr 101. Approximate speed was 60 mph. We went around a bend in the road over a concrete bridge expansion joint where the pavement changed levels. The truck jumped and began violently vibrating and forced me into passenger side guard rail of the bridge. The vibrating continued until I slowed down to approx 10 mph. The problem I thought was fixed with new steering stabilizer and shocks, a. K. A. The death wobble has returned. After research on the internet, I called my local Dodge dealership with skepticism. He knew of no recalls and it would not be covered under warranty. I do not feel safe in the vehicle and do not want my family riding in the truck. I have escaped injury to this point. This is my 1st posting. Please help. What should I do?.

From statement of operator "while performing road maintenance activities I was driving up a grade at low speed while in four wheel drive and in low gear. The first indication of a problem was a sudden burst of smoke from under the hood accompanied by the engine oil light coming on. I tripped the hood release, went to the front of the vehicle to open the hood. The smoke from the engine compartment prevented me from safely locaing the hood release. I then retrieved the fire extinguisher from the vehicle and applied it the best I could to the engine compartment. At the same time another employee retieved an additional 2 fire extinguishers from another forest service truck and applied their contents in a similar fashion. The application was insufficent to extinguish the fire. Over the subsequent half hour to 45 minutes the vehicle became fully engulfed in fire. The second operator said when he seen the smoke he ran up to the fron side of the truck and could see flames in the engine compartment and at that time they tried to extinguish the fire using 3 5abc fire exinguishers. After depleting the extinguishers they moved back and unhooked the rock rake they were pulling and waited for the fire response to arrive at which time the vehicle was totally engulfed.

I was driving slowly forward in a parking lot. I turned left and my left tie rod broke. I was unable to move and had to have the vehicle towed to the nearest Dodge dealership.

Dash has become brittle and is developing cracks throughout the part. It is falling apart.

Driver door lock is stuck down in lock position. Power door locks and key will not open door. Door will open from inside door latch. Have been many complaints on this issue on the forums.

2004 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel 4x4. Last Friday the driver's door lock actuator just stopped working. Cannot open door from the outside with the key fob or by turning the key. The plunger thingy moves up a bit, but not enough to unlock the door - and you cannot pull it up manually. Just looked online and there are many many many reports of the same thing. Would be interested if there were a covered recall for this.

Truck would not quit leaking inside truck no windows down or doors open after rain? found through a boroscope investigation that truck welded seams were not properly sealed after the welding took place. Windshield wiper motors removed and in between cab under window motor numerous welds were found to be leaking. Labor intensive to reseal. Cost $1,900 to reseal faulty welds from mexico!.

The dash board on my 2003 Dodge ram is crumbling on some parts and cracking verry badly on others. If I should be in an accident the dash is so bad that it would cut the airbags no mater what chrystler says this is a safty issue that needs to be taken care of ASAP. Grab-handle on windshield pillar pulled out of it's attachment bolts, potentially allowing driver to fall from vehicle upon entering vehicle. Grab-handle is totally plastic, not reinforced with metal. Assuming that the passenger side grab-handle is made the same way. Driver weighed approximately 180 pounds. This is a 4wd truck, and sits very high off the ground. The windshield mounted grab-handles are necessary to pull oneself up into the cab. These grab-handles are made as if they are cosmetic items, and not properly reinforced. I was shocked to find this was the case, and feel it is a serious safety flaw.

Dashboard disintegrating into hundreds of extremely pointed and sharp shards of heavy gauge plastic some of considerable mass that pose a severe risk in the event of a collision. Daily remove pieces of dash as they break free. Many are heavy enough and pointed enough to severely injure driver or occupants even under severe braking let alone a crash with airbag deployment at supersonic speeds. Under severe braking these shards break free and fly forward toward the windshield then bounce back at the terrified occupants. We now have to always wear protective eyewear to avoid being blinded by a flying piece of debris from the dash. Every time the vehicle hits a small bump another piece or two breaks off or a new crack appears threatening to release another sharp flying object into the passenger compartment. This is not just cosmetic!! this is dangerous. This has been going on for years as a cosmetic issue but now is different.
