Dash board totally destroyed lights and a/c switch won;t work properly radio is attached only by 2 screws I am afraid that the lights will not operate at nite anymore and became unsafe to drive. Contacted local Dodge dealers, indicating they don"t have any recalls on this item and there is nothing they can do to help. 3 Structure problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/25/2013

The whole truck began shaking so violently, I thought I may loose control, or the truck would not stay upright. The shaking continued until I stopped on the shoulder. A careful inspection revealed no evidence of loose parts. I drove another 30 minutes (5 on freeway, 25 on surface roads) without another incident. Baffling. I have driven this diesel truck in many conditions and on many surfaces with this truck. Vibrations have been strong sometimes in the past, set off by "wash-boards" in the pavement. . . Seem to be worse in the "tractor trailer/slow" lanes. But this event was 2-3 x the intensity.

4 Structure problem of the 2001 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 12/11/2012

The dashboard in this vehicle started to disintegrate at about 70,000 miles, even though it had a dash cover and window sun protection in at all times, since purchase of the vehicle. It was like a sinkhole opening up in dash. It is now causing wiring problems to the point I have it in the shop. Called Dodge to see if there is a recall as the mechanic said he has the same truck, with same issue, and every Dodge 2001 truck he works on has the same issue. Dodge would not comment. I have a Dodge Ram 2500 1992, and the dash looks like new. It is a defect that needs to be recalled. It can cause the headlights to short out while driving.

5 Structure problem of the 2001 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 11/14/2012

The dashboard started to disintegrate almost immediately after purchase. At 70,000 miles it had opened up a giant sinkhole and started causing electrical shortages, like headlights going out occasionally while driving. Now every time the fan is run, small pieces fly around the cab. A piece got into my eye while driving, it was a bad situation. I had to be treated with antibiotics in eye for a cut. Now I am seriously concerned for my safety in the event the airbags deploy. Sharp shards of shrapnel could be forced into my body by the airbag deploying. It is a very unsafe situation for driver and passenger. I am having the whole dash replaced at my own cost because of this. Dodge refuses to help. Unfortunately my mechanic says he replaces these all the time because of this issue, but in two years new dash is disintegrating again. This is clearly an unsafe situation that needs to be dealt with, before fatalities occur.

6 Structure problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/24/2012

Front left tie rod was a safety recall in March. I had it looked at and the dealer said it was fine. On Friday August 24th I was turning around in a driveway after I got off the highway 10 minutes prior when the tie rod broke. I called roadside assistance in which they towed to the nearest dealer since we were 58 miles from home. The dealer gave me a rental car and told me not to worry about anything, Chrysler would handle it. On Saturday the 25th, the dealership called me and told me that I would have to use my extended warranty because Chrysler said they would not pay for this, even though this was a recalled part. I would have to pay the 100. 00 deductible. I then filed a complaint with Chrysler, who then called me on Monday the 27th and told me they would pay the deductible and I would have to issue the check first and they would send me the check. I did not have 100. 00 and told them that they would need to pay upfront. They said they would talk to the dealer and take care of it. On Tuesday, the 28th I go to pick up my truck and they said Chrysler did not pay and I had to borrow 100 to take care of the deductible and also had to fill up the rental car. I feel that this was all on Chrysler and I have been a Dodge owner since early 90's and I refuse to buy Dodge ever again because of their lack of customer service. I could of been killed if this was to happen on the highway and Chrysler just does not care.

7 Structure problem of the 1999 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/08/2012

This vehicle is very seldom driven, once a week 1/4 mile. It is parked with a windshield cover across windshield to protect dash. The dash is completely falling apart in pieces. It began with small hairline cracks, then pieces began to fall in. It appears that a defective material was used to make the dashboard. The plastic has turned into a ceramic type material. Now huge pieces are falling in. I ordered a dashboard cover when the problem first began but before it has even arrived I am concerned that there won't be anything left to place the cover on.

13 Structure problem of the 2002 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/15/2011

Dashboard cover began falling apart for no apparent reason. The deterioration first appears as cracking that later opens up gaps in the dash. Numerous sharp edges are created on the dash. It is unknown whether or not the deterioration affects the airbags. Dashboard deterioration started last summer while the truck was parked. I park outside, so the inside of the truck is exposed to normal arkansas summer temperatures, but every other vehicle I've owned has been exposed to similar conditions without this ever happening before.

Failure Date: 12/01/2010

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 with approx. 58k miles. The dash board developed a couple cracks a few years into ownership. At this point the dash is literally falling to pieces. Large holes have developed exposing wires and very sharp edges. Pieces will simple break off without ever touching the dash. I am unable to drive the vehicle because I feel it is unsafe to have all the exposed wiring. I would replace the dash however I am told it will do it again as Chrysler has not corrected the manufacturing process of the dash or that the new dash I would get would be old stock of the same material.

21 Structure problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/10/2010

The driver's side floor mat keeps coming unhooked from the hooking device installed in the carpet. The floormat and the hooking device were both replaced at approx. 7000 mile because of this problem. It has now become a problem again and the dealer advises that Chrysler will not correct the problem again. I have contacted Chrysler by e-mail and they want me to go to another dealer and see if they will correct it. The next closest dealer is 28 miles away and my truck gets about 14 mi. Per gal. I feel like Chrysler is giving me the run around. My 2009 Ram 2500 only has 12,400 miles on it. Why can't Chrysler take care of this problem rather than trying to make another dealer take care of it?.

Failure Date: 10/28/2009

My 2000 Dodge 2500 dashboard has shattered and completely fallen in. The pieces range in size from softball to slivers. I have covered the gaping hole with carpet. The lack of a dashboard has exposed wiring to the elements, the airflow to the defroster and dash vents is disrupted, and created a shrapnel hazard. There is not enough structure left for installation of a glue over dash cap and will require the entire dash to be replaced; there is a problem with the dashboards Dodge should be taking responsibility for this.

Failure Date: 04/15/2009

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 the dash began to fall apart in pieces about a year ago. The pieces are now falling down in behind the dash. My fear is that these pieces may cause an electrical short. (lights, brakes, air bag, god only knows) the dash problem is so widespread, that after contacting numerous aftermarket and salvage suppliers, I have learned that there are no dashes available for my truck. I contacted Dodge and learned that my truck is "out of warranty". They do not believe the dash is a safety issue.
