Add my well maintained, garaged since new 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 to the list of trucks with disintegrating dashboard. Always kept protectant applied but to no avail. Obviously a manufacturer defect.

I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 4x4 and the dash is falling apart rapidly. I had two small cracks a week ago and now I have a new one that extends from my windshield to my radio. Now I'm worried its going to sink in and cause electrical problem that could potentially lead to a fire.

My complaint is on a 2000 Dodge 2500 for a cracked and disintegrated dashboard. The dashboard has collapsed; exposing wiring to the elements, diffusing and eliminating the defrost and dash vents, and creating shrapnel hazards to occupants in the event of a crash or air bag deployment. The failure of the dashboard progressed from two several inch cracks to complete failure in the course of 2 months.

Problem 1) the engine has a exhaust manifold leak. This is due to Dodge using inadequate bolts on the head and the bolts broke. The removal of the exhaust manifold requires the bolts to be drilled and tapped out. Dodge should have corrected this problem but would not. Problem 2) the vehicle leaks profusely in the cab. Ever since I bought this vehicle the cab has leaked. It leaks under the rear seat and it leaks from the front visor as well. I have tried to seal with rtv since Dodge could never fix the problem. It still leaks. Problem 3) the passenger front window works intermittently at best. Problem 4) the rear doors will not release the child lock function. I have tried numerous times but apparently the switch in the door does not work.

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with approx. 34,000 miles on it it is well kept over the past few weeks the dashboard has began to split in several places 1 resulted in me cutting my hand.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. While the contact's mother-in-law was holding on to the bar on the inside of the vehicle to pull herself up, it fell to the floor. The handle is located between the windshield and the passenger door. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for repair and they stated that it was a cosmetic issue, which was not covered under the warranty. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 50,000.

Dash in my 2000 Dodge 2500 is cracking and falling in which could cause electrical issues because of exposure to the sun. I have been checking on line and this seems to be hugh problem across the country. I believe Dodge should be held accountable for putting such a poor quality product on the road, the way the dash is caving in could cause injury or death if the air bags deploy in a accident.

The dashboard and the instrument trim bezel have severe cracks in them. I did not know this was a widespread issue and Dodge should replace the dashboards at no cost to the owners. This is clearly a manufacturing defect.

In September of 2009, he was walking toward the vehicle and noticed a hole in the dashboard and that it was caving inward. The manufacturer advised him that they were unable to offer him any assistance since it was not a safety issue. The manufacturer later stated that they would pay 25% towards the repair if it was repaired at an authorized dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current mileage was approximately 132,000. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. My truck is taken care of very well. I believe it was in June 2008 when I first started to notice small cracks in the center of my dash. At that time I was the parts manager for a general motors dealership that also owned a Dodge dealership next door. I spoke to the service manager and was told it was a common problem and Dodge would replace the dash for a $100. 00 deductible. I left that job and never had the dash replaced. I later went to a Dodge dealer near my home and was told to contact Chrysler customer assistance. Chrysler told me they would only pay 50% of the repairs. I did not agree to the offer. It would cost me $700 to $800 out of my pocket. I put a carpeted mat over the top of the dash to cover up the holes. There are actually holes and big pieces of plastic upper dash falling into the dash. In October 2013 I went back to my local Dodge dealer to tell them if they paid for the parts I would do the labor myself. They have changed their offer and only want to pay 50% of parts now. My part would be $495. 00. I tried a different dealer only to be told that Chrysler would not give any help. They told me that it was due to the texas heat. That is not true because it is happening all over the united states. There needs to be a safety recall opened because this is a safety issue. If these vehicles are in a accident to where the passenger side airbag is deployed it is going to fill the passenger compartment with flying pieces of plastic that may impale its passengers. Maybe Chrysler is waiting on a few accidents to where the passengers have plastic sticking out of their bodies. Maybe a couple of lawsuits will get them off their rears. I spent over thirty years in general motors and Dodge dealership service departments. I do have some knowledge of these things.

Dash & inner structure started cracking in my 2001 Dodge ram. I think this is a safety hazard to me and my family. If in a accident where airbag was deployed shrapnel could explode in to the air and cause injuries to occupants. Also the wiring under the cover can be exposed to radiant heat from the sun and cause a fire. Thanks.

I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins truck and within three years my dash started falling apart. I approached the dealer with this issue but unfortunately my warranty was up 1000 miles ago. I didn't want to pay the 600 bucks for the replacement dash installed so I purchased one from the dealer and installed it myself. I take very good care of my vehicle so I couldn't stand having my truck look like crap. Well my new dash is now even worse than the first dash. I just cant believe Dodge would let such an inferior product be used on their trucks. I thought they were supposed to be ram tuff??? I have had vehicles that were over 20 years old and the dash was fine how could a 7 year old vehicle go through 2?.

The dashboard of my 2000 Dodge ram pickup truck has caved in. It was hidden by a fuzzy dashboard cover when we purchased the truck last year as "used" and only discovered the problem when we removed the cover. It turns out it is a known problem with Chrysler, but they will not repair it.

The front dash panel in my 03 Dodge 2500 is cracked im worried about pieces flying off if im ever in a crash. I have a two year old to worry about and that should be the last thing I have to worry about.

The dashboard of the vehicle has completely cracked and busted leaving a giant hole in it. Leaving all the wires and heater vents exposed. This happened just with normal driving of vehicle no crashes or anything ever hit it to cause the problem.

The dash on my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 is cracked. It has progressively gotten larger. I vehicle is kept in a garage so there is no sun damage. I can hear it vibrate sometimes. The dealer was informed about this problem two years ago and they said it was normal wear and tear. I don't believe I should be responsible for something that is not normal wear and tear.

Dashboard is decaying. Not normal wear, but excessive cracking. Same problem is occurring in daughter's Dodge pickup.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving between 65-80 mph, the front end of the vehicle began to shake violently. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure, however, they replaced all four control arms. The failure persists. The current mileage is 12,000 and failure mileage was 11,200.

The dashboard in 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 is severely cracked in many places, and has been for months, and finally one day a section just fell in while I was driving, right above the instrument cluster. This was a concern at the time, and I was told by Dodge to just purchase a new one. Since the hole appeared the whole dashboard rattles while I drive . It is not only is annoying, but also distracting.

2003 Dodge ram. The plastic mode door is broken and the vehicle will only blow out the vents. This is not a real big deal until its raining outside and you can't defrost the windows at hwy speeds.

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 truck. Complete dash failure, cracked, broken and caved in. Plastic material is brittle and chunks break off at slightest touch. Plastic edges are very sharp and could cause injury. Total replacement is only fix.
