The contact stated that the dashboard had cracks to the point that the structural integrity of the part failed to the point that it had fractured into pieces and the contact was uncertain if the failure may affect other components due to the dashboard failure. Dash is cracked completely. Pieces of the dash has fallen in the air vents. It's a safety issue if I get into an accident due to a piece might hit me or my passenger. Have a 2002 Ford focus zts, I have taken care my Dodge better than my Ford and the dash is in perfect condition.

Tl the contact owns a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the entire dashboard cracked and pieces were falling off. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000.

Complete top of dashboard is cracking and pieces falling inside. Condition is concerning from a safety standpoint. The structural integrity of the dash which also houses the passenger airbag is obviously compromised, there are sharp edges where the dash has cracked and where large pieces of plastic are missing. This would very likely cause injuries in the event of a crash.

Attempted to turn on headlights. Headlight switch pulled out from dis-integrated instrument panel plastic. Had to release steering wheel and hold body of headlight switch with one hand while operating switch control with other hand. This Dodge ram's dash cover has completely cracked away several years ago. Now, the actual instrument panel is dis-integrating. Currently the headlight switch, the overdrive switch and auxillary power outlet are hanging by wires. The drink holder and radio are removed as their mounting support is gone.

The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the dash board developed a crack with sharp jagged edges. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 146,000.

Dashboard has sever cracks which developed about 4 years ago. I was driving down the road and turned on the defroster. The grill covering the defroster blew apart into several pieces and hit my check and jaw. No injuries were sustained. However, there are several more grills and they are extremely dry rotted. Question is do I remove the grills and let debris fall into the ducts and they too become projectiles or leave the grills and hope for the best.

Cracked dashboard. I cut my finger on the sharp edge of the cracked dashboard. Got into truck to take a ride and noticed the dash was cracked in two places. I'm afraid the thing is going fly into the face of someone on the passenger side if I'm in an accident.

After purchasing this truck from the first time owner, I begin to notice at certain times I would experience a violent shaking when going over a bump. After looking online and reading about the "death wobble" I become worried and contacted the dealer. Of course they acted like they did not know what I was talking about. But when you talk to an independent mechanic, they know exactly what you are talking about. In short, I have spent over $2700 getting the front end redone, with no help from Chrysler. I find it completely irresponsible on their part to not do anything to help with this problem. Now. . Just last week I get this recall notice on the left tie rod end. I am most certain when I take it in, they will say there is nothing wrong with it. . And send me on my way. This issue and the cracked dash is all a bunch of baloney to which Chrysler should have taken some serious action to help folks who bought a $50k truck in good faith that it was built good. .

I have owned this truck about 3 years. The vehicle has approx. 39,000 miles on it. I noticed small cracks in the dashboard. Over the last 3 years, the cracks have gotten larger. I was traveling on interstate 81 and going across a bridge joint. The bridge joint dips down and the shock of the bridge joint caused the dashboard to completely shatter into pieces. These pieces are very sharp and brittle. These pieces flew up onto the seat. During an impact, these pieces could impale a person sitting in either the driver or passenger side. These pieces also fell down into the electrical system on the vehicle. It could impact the air bags or the computer on the vehicle. When I got home, I called Dodge to see if there was any vehicle assistance program or recalls. They said there weren't any. I have all the pieces off the dash if someone would like to look at them. I did remove the dash from the vehicle in fear that someone would be hurt by these sharp pieces. I've read many stories about the dashboards on Dodge ram trucks. I cannot believe that this is in the best interest of the consumer. From what I've read, the dashes on all Dodge rams between 1998 and 2004 have been defective. Dash began cracking and now pieces falling down while driving. I purchased a replacement from a junk yard and had it installed. Now this one is also cracking and won't be long until its as bad as the original. Dodge wants $800 for a new one and it will cost me another $335 to have it installed. This is ridiculous. What kind of material could possibly have a shelve life of exactly 10 years. Secondly how can the new replacement (that will also have a 10year shelve life) be so expensive? my son drives a 20year old Ford truck and the dash is perfect. I used to love this truck and now we hate it. So frustrating.

The entire dashboard is cracking and disintegrating. Obviously due to substandard material and/or workmanship. This is leaving pieces of plastic with very sharp jagged edges and points covering the top of the dashboard. This is a very dangerous condition as these sharp edges can cut or blind someone in even a minor accident.

The plastic dashboard is cracking and disintegrating before my very eyes. Every day the cracks widen and spread, and every day another piece of the dashboard breaks completely off. The shards of plastic are sharp and jagged, and potentially dangerous.

Got in to the truck and noticed the dash was cracked straight through the middle.

Cracks formed in the dash and after a few months the dash began to fall apart. I duct taped it together out of fear that water would short out the electrical components visible through the loose pieces.

I purchased the truck with 124,000 miles and noticed the dash was cracked on my drive from tennessee back to florida. It makes noise, looks like crap, and keeps me from setting anything on the dash board. This is something that is veryyyyyyyyyyyyy common on Dodges, if not a right of passage. They need to address the issues and step up and take care of Dodge owners. Dodge, you were cheap on the manufacturing, now you need to make it right.

Top of dashboard is cracked and coming to pieces. The rattling is distracting and loose flying sharp pieces would be a danger in any minor accident or even a bad bump. The dealer cost of $647 to replace it is ridiculous, especially since it's a factory defect.

My 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 truck's dashboard has cracked in several places. These are long cracks from the windshield to the cabin edge. Also large circles of cracks. This is a safety concern because of the possibility of sharp pieces flying through the cab of the truck. We are not only concerned for our safety but for the safety of our twin 3 year old grandsons that are often with us.

I cleaned the dust off the dash board and noticed a crack forming from one of the vents, on the passenger side, at the windshield moving toward the interior. Today, 4/20/2012, I noticed another crack, on the driver's side, coming from the vent up over the top. It is 10-12" long already. I did an internet search and it seems that there are many others with the same problem. It appears that once this starts, the entire dash begins to self-destruct. This is very dangerous as pieces can go flying in the event of an accident and air-bag deployment.

The dash has been developing bad cracks but now has just crumbled leaving gaping holes and sharp and jagged pieces.

The dashboard has cracked into many sharp loose pieces. These pieces could fall into the wiring and other componets under the dash or fly into the driver and cause a major problem. This would be a serious problem for occupants of the vehicle and fellow motorist. The fix as far as I can determine is very costly and extensive. The problem stems from faulty materials used in manufacturing and should be a recall item. This is not the only instance of material failure on this model year truck. I have read of many such occurances and hope this will be resolved soon.

2003 Dodge 2500 dashboard cracking severely. Clearly a hazard due to sharp edges and loose shards of plastic. The damage is extending towards the instrument panel and passenger airbag. Concerned that the airbag may become affected by the disintegrating dashboard.

Recently I noticed that the dash had cracked on the passenger side. It was not very noticeable from the driver's side and a passenger pointed it out. Since first noticed, the crack (tear) has continued to grow. Other than the crack in the dash, the truck looks brand new.
