2 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

The Dodge Ram 2500 truck has a cummins diesel engine with common rail fuel injection. March 2013 while on a trip pulling a trailer, the number 5 & 6 fuel injector lines were severely rusted / corroded which resulted in a bad fuel leak. I lost close to 30 gallons of diesel fuel in 40 miles driving distance. The under hood and underbody of the truck was coated in fuel. Vehicles behind me had some fuel spray as well. It was smoking bad behind me due to the fuel being on the exhaust system. I had a Dodge dealer replace two of the six fuel injector lines. No choice. The dealer also cleaned the underbody. Once I returned home from the trip, I had a different Dodge dealer replace the other four injector lines. If this was a gas engine, the truck would've burned to the ground. Now, November 2014, I see the brake lines from the master cylinder to the abs brake controller are also severely rusted / corroded. They are not leaking yet. It is just a matter of time. I will have them replaced prior to taking any trips, and will have the brake system completely flushed too. Pulling a trailer with the truck and losing the brake system could prove to be fatal. The truck now has 96000 miles, and is always parked inside a garage. These lines should not have corroded so badly, even in minnesota.

3 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2001 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/24/2012

The brake line that runs from the master cylinder to the rear brake on the drivers side has rotted out and busted. This is a common problem on these Dodge ram trucks . I have cars from the 1960's and the brake lines have not rusted at all and this truck is 11 years old. This happens a lot on these trucks and im sure this is not the first complaint against them. Maybe a recall should be ordered. Thanks for your time.

4 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2000 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/10/2008

I ordered a new replacement master brake cylinder for my 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 pick-up truck. It was ordered through national automotive lines in shellbyville IL. The master cylinder they sent was from coni-seal of lakewood, NJ 08701. When I went to bench bleed the master cylinder prior to installing it on my vehicle, the front brake fluid reservoir fluid turned red while bleeding it. I also got red stringgy debris about an 1/2 to 3/4 inch long from the inside of the master cylinder. The part # is mc250130. Do not use this part!!!!!! as you know any foreign matter in the brake line could cause a brake to stick, not apply, or it could get into the anti-lock brake system and cause it to fail or malfunction. Both parts displayed the same problem, so it appears the factory is doing something wrong, or someone is deliberately putting something in the master cylinder. If you do not bench bleed and do it on the car, you will not catch this and will put foreign matter into your brake system. This could have fatal results. I urge the d. O. T. And ntsb to investigate immediately before a fatal accident happens.

9 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 1998 Dodge Ram 2500

Having total brake failure, brakes work one minute then the next minute pedal goes to floor and not stopping. Have taken vehicle to several mechanics and have had two master cylinders put on thinking that the master cylinder was the problem, but still having brake failure. No one seems to have an idea as to what is causing this to happen. Called dealership and they were no help and was unsuccesful in contacting the Chrysler corporation.
