The contact owns a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the entire dashboard was cracked, to the point that pieces detach when going over a bump. The contact also stated that the front-end suspension was fractured, making it impossible for the vehicle to drive in a straight line. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.

Normal driving. Truck has 138k miles. Headlights fail. Initially they go off, come on, then go off permanently. Can smell smoke from dash wiring harness. Manufacturer has a recall #819 that covers the 3500 series trucks with identical wiring and headlight switch part numbers, but will not cover the 2500 series trucks. This is a safety hazard and I have found multiple instances on the internet of other people having the same exact problem. Left unchecked, I'm certain this will result in a dash fire, property damage, and possibly death.

The dashboard on the 2001 Dodge ram with 49,000 miles had cracks all over it. Pieces started to come off. It has not been confirmed yet, but I believed this was the cause of the substance errors due to wiring under the dash getting hot. I am extremely concerned for safety and a potential short which could cause a fire. A dash should not crack after 3-4 years. It started with minor cracks around 2005 and kept getting worse. I have never in my life had any vechile do this but thiswas my first Dodge.

While driving home late one evening in late November 2004, the lights on my Dodge Ram 2500 went completely out. With this loss of lighting I was forced off the road, fortunately I was able to safely stop the vehicle without serious consequence. The fault was the main light switch failure (shorting out) creating a short and small fire in the dash. This is the third switch I have replaced in this vehicle. I researched this type of failure and have found that is a fairly common occurrence in the ram trucks. I would like to know if there is anything which can be done to make this a safer vehicle to operate.
1999 Dodge Ram 2500 entire dashboard cracked and fell apart. Regular maintenance was performed, and it was usually in covered parking. Pieces fell into the wiring and mechanisms stopping their use. I bought an oem replacement and it also cracked. I had to replace the ventilation controls because a piece of the plastic wedged into it and broke the levers. Also, noticed two wires that had a sharp piece of plastic between them ,and the vibration had worn away the insulation. I replaced those wires before they could short out.

Dodge 2500 2001 model dash is falling out to the point it is a safety concern wires are being exposed and kids can get hands and fingers caught in holes in dash. Dealer says it is aware of problem but will do nothing about it. Don davis dealership.
After the purchase of a 2000 Dodge ram 4x4 in 2003 I noticed cracks in the dash. Within two weeks the cracks quickly spread and evolved into huge holes until there was very little of the dash left. After the dash fell apart the lights periodically began to fail, the cruise control quit working then began working with a mind of its own,,, speeding up and slowing down and total shut off. Heater quit working immediately,,, Dodge refused to do any repairs what so ever, stating it was not under warranty nor was it a recall item, therefore they have no responsibility in the matter. I know of at least 6 friends that owe the same vehicle and have the same problem and were told the same by Dodge. I never intend on purchasing another Dodge product again. Please help . . . . . . . . . . .
