Dodge Ram 3500 owners have reported 6 problems related to brake light on (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When my vehicle reached 50000 miles the abs light, the airbag light and brake light came on for no apparent reason. Dodge has two recalls related to this issue. But as expected my vehicle was not on the recall list. So their solution was for me to purchase the 500. 00 dollar part to remedy their poor design and workmanship. This is clearly a huge safety issue and should be addressed promptly. I personally think these failures are by design to sell parts.

The abs control module on my 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 has failed. The failure was indicated by the barking brake light and abs light illuminating on the instrument panel, and the module motor continuing to run without applying the brakes. Turning the ignition off would not stop the module motor from running. My dealer does not have the module in stock and Chrysler corp is backordered on the item. The dealer's mechanic said he had personally seen 5 or 6 of these failures. My concern is that this is a safety item, and an integral part of the brakes. 1. ) if the module is allowed to run continuously there may be a fire danger, or possibly a further degradation of the braking system. 2. ) the abs braking system is rendered inoperative. 3. ) if the module is disconnected to stop the motor, other systems are affected such as the speedometer, and data systems displayed on the over head. 4. ) since Chrysler is back ordered on this safety item, this may indicate that there has been a rash of failures. The unit is manufactured by kelsey-hayes and has part numbers:

it also appears to be highly irresponsible on the part of Chrysler not to have this item readily available for replacement.

Safety issue 1. . Interior dash board first cracked, then cracked all over, then finally fell apart. The safety issue is pieces of the dash made up of plastic is breaking up in large sharp chunks when a bump in the road is encountered or jarring occurs. When going over a rr track a 5" jagged piece broke off and a small shard hit me in the eye. This issue is way more than cosmetic. I am the original owner and the dealer will not take any responsibility for this defective product. Safety issue 2. . Air bag light has been on for several years and intermittent. I received an air bag recall and I took the truck to the dealer for corrective action. After so called fix, the warning light was off for 1 day then came back on. The dealer states the recall has nothing to do with the warning lights. Now I have a current 2nd air bag recall. I took the vehicle to the dealer, but they state they don't have the parts and will contact me. Its been months ago and still no part. Again they say air bag warning light is not related. Safety issue 3. . . Brake light warning and abs warning stays on all the time. Paid $100 for them to troubleshoot and they say its a sensor on the rt front abs. I feel this is another safety issue.

The contact owns a 1996 Dodge Ram 3500. While driving approximately 40 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle slowed down after several attempts. The brake warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was driven onto the side of the road and towed to the contact's residence. The failure was related to rust in the brake line system. The failure occurred on two separate occasions. The vehicle has not been repaired; however, the contact will perform the repair himself. The failure mileage was 103,753 and current mileage was 104,000.

Anti-lock brake failure - the brake failure was accompanied by the brake and anti-lock brake light indicators on the dash to intermittantly appear and disappear. The brake pedal intermittantly ranges from soft to hard. A periodic vibration in the pedal is noted with nearly a total loss in brake pressure.
