11 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 04/11/2015

Loaded at 18000 lbs gvw while towing a tandem axle trailer the vehicle died. Upon losing all electrical power the engine died causing the loss of power assisted brakes and power assisted steering. Fortunately the speed of the vehicle was around 5 mph. I'm 6 foot tall and over 200 lbs and I was unable to steer the vehicle to the side of the parking area. Upon leaving the vehicle I immediately smelled electronics burning. I opened the hood and immediately disconnected the positive post of the totally integrated power module (tipm). I then removed the tipm to find a hole burnt through the side and the circuit board covered with black soot. I had the vehicle and trailer towed to corbin ky where there were no Dodge dealers willing to work on a vehicle of this size. Nor would they store the trailer for me while conducting the repair. I choose to have the vehicle and trailer towed over 600 miles to my home in michigan. I called my local dealer whom took the VIN number to order an new one. After over 2 weeks waiting on the tipm (which turned out to be remanufactured) the truck is still not operable. If I had been travelling at interstate speeds with a loaded vehicle I likely would not have survived this incident. Prior to this happening I had many issues with the lighting on the truck. The low beam on the passenger side would be inoperable while the drivers high beam is the only one that would work. Also, the taillights would stop working on one side and the turn signals would flash quickly. Not seeing this as a huge safety issue I simply took it the dealer to reflash the tipm. After getting it back with half the lights inoperable, the ac didn't work anymore. Now the vehicle is worthless and all sense of security and safety is gone. I can no longer confidently take my family anywhere in this vehicle.

16 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/04/2014

The truck had a gooseneck flatbed 30ft trailer attached to the Dodge ram with a john deere tractor loaded on top of the trailer. The vehicle was running and in park on a slight downhill. The trailer was prepared with the ramps down for the tractor to be backed off. Upon backing the tractor off of the trailer, when the rear tractor wheels moved to the down ramp, the shift in weight caused the truck, flatbed trailer and tractor to begin rolling down hill for 300 yards and through a barbed wire fence and finally coming to a stop due to uphill slope in the terrain. The tractor was able to back the rest of the way off of the trailer without incident. Upon reaching the truck and trailer the vehicle was still in park and running. This is a serious defect that needs immediate attention before someone is hurt.

Failure Date: 06/20/2014

While driving south hauling a horse trailer on a two lane highway, my truck would hit a slight bump or ridge in the road and start violently shaking. The only remedy is to slow to a stop. The steering wheel shakes violently, it is hard to steer, the brakes can't slow like normal. It is a dangerous not only to occupants in the vehicle, but to other people on the road. This vehicle is a hazard to everyone!!!!.

Failure Date: 12/25/2013

While traveling on the highway at 65 miles per hr if I hit a bump or the spaces on the road by overpasses( the space between the regular road and the overpass) the whole front-end of the truck vibrates to the extent that I loose control of the truck not being able to steer of slow down (using the breaks) due to the severe vibrations( I researched this and in my research they refer to this as the death wobble. I think that this is a problem that needs attention before people are killed due to this well known defect known by Dodge as they have changed certain parts known to cause this so called death wobble. Please advise if anything can be done to remedy this dangerously deadly problem.

21 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 3500

24 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 10/15/2012

The oem integrated electronic trailer brake controller will not apply power to the brakes on the towed vehicle when depressing the tow vehicle foot brake. You must manually slide the brake controller lever in order to actuate the system. Very dangerous when towing a camper, trailer, etc. I have taken my truck in twice to the dealer: the first time they could not find anything wrong; the second time, they replaced the controller w/ a new one. It performs exactly the same--that is, it doesn't. They assure me it is working as designed. They also suggested it was my trailer. However, it does not matter what trailer I am towing, it does not work. All of my trailers brake fine when hooked to other tow vehicles.

28 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/12/2011

Driving 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 6. 7l diesel on highway at 65 mph and came up to a slow vehicle. Pressed accelerator hard to pass vehicle quickly and the pedal stuck. Hit brakes hard twice, and pulled up on pedal with my foot and then my hand. The pedal itself came up, but it did not disengage the accelerator. Speed was probably close to 100mph when I was about to put truck in neutral, but the mechanism finally released. Had no mat or any other obstruction on the floor to cause the problem. Spoke to the local Dodge dealer but the vehicle is just over warranty.

29 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 05/25/2011

Upon hitting a bump, hump, or hole in the pavement while driving at highway speeds the steering wheel begins to vibrate and move side to side unexpectedly; the front end of the truck shakes and bounces violently until speed reduces to near stop. Brakes and steering are near ineffective until the violent shaking stops. It feels as if the whole front end is about to break loose from the vehicle, and driver control is severely compromised. This has happened 8-10 times in two years of ownership. It is always unexpected with no warning. I have become very uneasy about road trips in this vehicle. I am about to take it to a Dodge dealership one more time as the problem occurred again two days ago. I have only 700 miles of warranty left. Past trips to Dodge dealerships have given no relief with the comment always being "we could not get the problem to occur when we test drove the truck, and all front suspension tolerances are correct".

30 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 03/23/2011

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the contact attempted to decelerate but the vehicle continued to accelerate until after repeatedly engaging the brakes with force. The failure occurred whenever a hitched trailer was being towed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer ten times for the same failure. The technician informed the contact that the incorrect brake system was installed in the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 600.

31 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 09/03/2010

2010 Dodge Ram 3500 integrated brake controller does not work well enough to stop trailer. The controller does not send braking voltage to trailer for a full 3 seconds after the truck brakes are applied and takes 2-3 seconds to ramp up the voltage after the truck brakes are applied. If the controller is set to a setting of 5-10 the controller only sends 3. 0 to the trailer. The controller never sends over 3. 0 no matter how long or hard the brakes are applied. The result is when stopping, the trailer pushes the truck into intersections. The brake controller was replaced and it still works the same. Contacted Dodge and after playing phone tag no solution in sight. This is an accident waiting to happen. I have been close several times when another vehicle stops short or changes lanes and stops eliminating the extra stopping distance I allow because of the ineffective brake controller.

32 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 02/17/2010

Auto brake system lite came on .

33 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

34 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 08/10/2009

Brake pedal has developed 3/4" lateral movement. Presents uncertainty during emergency braking, have had a couple of "close calls" where due to the lateral movement of the brake pedal braking was delayed. Local dealer briefly examined pedal and verified this lateral movement is abnormal and a problem exists with the mechanism in the adjustable brake pedal. Csr states part is on "national back order" and will not be available until some time in September.

35 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/05/2009

My brake pedal in my Dodge Ram 3500 is loose. It actually moves left to right a couple inches. I feel it to be a major safety concern. Dodge claims its not a warranty covered item. And I would need to pay a few hundred dollars to fix it. Then they say there is about 100 people on the backorder list for this part.
