1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

On July 20, 2017 family and I were riding in our meticulously maintained 2005 Ram 3500 at highway speed in the cape cod region of massachusetts. After an hour truck running great, outside temp 92 degrees. 30 seconds later we had a catastrophic event which put us on the side of the road. 12 quarts of oil on the ground, flames under the hood, and a hole in block. Removed wife and daughter from vehicle, extinguished fire thanks to a state trooper, fire and police apparatus. Given this is my daily driver and a business vehicle I was forced to replace motor costing $18k. Cummins and Chrysler inspected vehicle. Did not investigate cause. Refused copies of inspection reports. Cummins tied up vehicle for a month. Delayed repair and use as daily driver and critical business need. Attached Chrysler/cummins responses show negligence. Research has exposed latent defect whereby Dodge application of cummins does not use adequate fuel filtration. Results in over fueling of the injectors that melt or hydro lock pistons, overloading rods, destroying block, spilling of oil, resulting in fire. Many on line examples of severely damaged engines well before b50 life of 350k miles. Repeated requests to address safety issue that could result in severe injury or death ignored. Personal engine inspection showed puddled fuel on cracked piston 3 and piston 4, indicating the hydro locked piston caused the rod and block failure. Refer to youtu link https://m. Youtube. Com/watch?v=_bkdzxo6uno that demonstrates consequences of over fueling. Sudden failure on well maintained vehicle resulting in fire on highway warrants root cause investigation. Cause is likely inadequate fuel filtration latent defect. 7 micron instead of 3. There are no Chrysler diagnostic tools or maintenance procedures to protect the customer. Latent defect liability is not limited by warranty period. Must address safety!.

2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 04/07/2017

Tipm (totally integrated power module) failed, causing vehicles engine to stall at 75mph on freeway. Condition resulted in a "no-start" scenario. Because of this failed tipm, the onboard diagnostic computer has no power, resulting in an inability to diagnose with obdii scan tools. This situation could have resulted in a possibly fatal accident, as the vehicle was in motion at 75mph on a major freeway with moderate traffic. When the vehicle stalled, all power steering and brakes were lost. These parts are prone to failing, but Chrysler refuses to accept responsibility. An aftermarket replacement is available at the price of approx. $600, but these parts are special order, and take several days to receive.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 09/12/2012

While driving on the freeway at 50mph went to accelerate to pass a truck and nothing happened. Dead pedal, a big truck was coming up behind me and he had to hit the brakes as I was now in the left lane. He went to the right to avoid me. This has happened countless times. Dealer cannot figure out the problem, as no codes are set. They have replaced the apps, which is the gas pedal, the brake light switch, the ecm, the egr. None of these made a difference. Been back at least ten times for them to put truck on there computer, and no codes. They say, can't fix what they don't see. Dealer left the work order open for a long time so no evidence of all the come backs were recorded. Dealer is 40 miles away. Twice in one minute, one time only truck would not move from a stoplight. This only happened one time. I can make the truck do its dead pedal thing, but its out of warranty. It has something to do with the exhaust brake. It sounds like the brake is on, pumping the pedal does no good, just put it to the floor wait 3 or more seconds and will downshift and off we go. Like I said, when going to pass, moving into the left lane on a hill and nothing happens, just a little scary. I think it is a safety issue, it could create an accident. Rear ended. .

7 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 08/05/2009

Vehicle has a death wobble, dealerships keep replacing steering damper, three times since 2009, it comes on unexpectedly, the problem is in the front end, just turned 40,000 miles, I will not allow anyone to drive this truck, it is an accident waiting to happen, Dodge dealerships will not resolve the issue correctly. Thus why it has only 40k on it. I do not want to even drive it over 45 mph. It has the problem again, I would like to trade it in, but do not want to give someone this headache. I will not even drive with my children in this truck. Also have had egr valve issues. Please force Dodge to do something before someone that does not know how to handle vehicles like this get behind the wheels and kills a family. Thank you.
