1 Wiring problem of the 2004 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 05/10/2011

The windows do not work and this problem keeps happening even after it was fixed, it wasn't the motor, switches or anything else, the wiring is bad somewhere and it went back out after the warranty expired. I hope this is a recall so something can get done and stay done.

2 Wiring problem of the 2006 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 08/14/2008

The right side passenger head light continues to blow out from some kind of short in the wiring. I notice alot of Dodge status on the road with a headlight out. There is also a water spot always in the passenger side floor with no antifreeze smell just a water smell. I have replace 3 headlights in 3 months. Far to many. Is there a problem with the fuses the reason for the bulbs burning out? when the air condition is running and you are driving along put on the brakes you hear a sizzling sound as you are slowing down. And finally the brakes have chattered since day one of purchasing this car. They rumble and grind as this car had 48, 000 miles on it when I purchased it in 2008. Thanks.

The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Stratus. While parked in the parking lot, the vehicle caught fire. The fire and police departments suggested that the fire could have been caused from bad wiring within the instrument panel. The contact stated that the entire instrument panel and engine were completely destroyed. She stated that there was no ignition source that could have caused the fire. The vehicle was towed and the contact is still waiting to hear from the mechanic. She has also been experiencing brake failure and have had them replaced twice. A police report was filed. 5 Wiring problem of the 2001 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 01/02/2007

Noticed my car seemed to be losing performance. Failure started when my car would shut off while I was driving when I turned on the heat. This happened 4 times in one day and the fourth time I almost had an accident on interstate 5. I did have firestone check the vehicle and they could not find the cause. I search this site for recalls and found recall number 00v299002 which states " prolonged wiring harness contact with the heat shield will cause the wiring insulation to wear and eventually to ground out. This could cause the engine to die out, increasing the risk of a crash" which is exactly what I'm experiencing when I drive. I have kept up the maintenance on this vehicle with jiffy lube and firestone, so there should be no reason why this is happening other than a manufactures defect. I called the local Dodge dealer and manufacturer and they both stated there is no recall for my Dodge Stratus 2001 for this problem. I was in shock to think that NHTSA is aware of the problem and the people responsible for there products are not. Hopefully, this complaint will spark the manufacturer to make this a recall and prevent myself and others from being seriously injured in a car accident, due to no fault of our own.

8 Wiring problem of the 2002 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 08/08/2005

My 2002 Dodge Stratus coupe has faulty starts. This problem has occurred several times, I have had it towed to the dealers twice before. There was one occasion when it didn't start, then hours later all of a sudden it did. The first time I took the vehicle to the dealers, they said it was a problem with a large evaporation leak. The second time, the dealership couldn't figure out the problem , kept the car for 4 days, then told me the car started on its own. This last time the car died when I was reversing out of a parking space. I tried to restart it many times with no luck, I had it towed to the dealership again, which at first they couldn't figure out the problem, now they are telling me its a problem with the psm connection to the fuel pump. But something happened while they tried to fix it which caused a shortage , then they realized it was "defective wiring". The mechanics at the dealership are now taking my car apart and trying to replace all the faulty wiring. But there is another issue, I have service receipts showing "won't start, drivability concern" dating back from 6/13/02 , 14 months prior to my purchasing the new vehicle.

On Dec. 12, 2004 myself, my daughter , & her step-daughter were on our way to go shopping approximately 60 miles from home. We stopped at approximately 45 miles and ate lunch, then continued the other 15 miles. We exited the 1999 Dodge Stratus and entered the store. After approximately 5-10 minutes, an in-store page went out that a vehicle of our description was smoking badly. When I looked out the store window, I saw the vehicle was mine. I ran out to the parking lot to find my car (1999 Dodge Stratus) motor was on fire with fire coming out from underneath the motor and black smoke boiling out. By the time emergency vehicles arrived (police and fire department), my car was fully in flames. Fire fighters extinguished the fire finally, but my car was totally destroyed. My mechanic stated that my engine is leaking oil from pretty much everywere, I have to add a quart of oil every 4 - 5 days. I have no interior lights, my odometer and tachometer do not function and display. My radio does not work, and now my brake lights aren't functioning. I checked and all of my fuses are fine. I can't afford the engine repairs for the oil. I have to get the electrical problem fixed. Chrysler should take care of these problems.

15 Wiring problem of the 2004 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 03/08/2004

Car does the following at random- when driving at low speeds it dies, sometimes when pulling into parking spaces the engines surges and causes car to lunge forward. Once when I backed out of my driveway and put the car in drive it surged and lunged forward. The engine, on several occasions has idled very roughly, the engine light stayed on once and the other time it flashed 5 or 6 times and quit. Noe the motor in the rear window is defective! I have had this car to the dealership 6-7 times for this problem and "they can't duplicate the problem". The lemon law in tennesse requires 4 visits for the same problem, have exceeded that by far! I am done with Dodge/Chrysler and all their products. I will buy a foreign car befor I ever buy another product from them!!!.
