I have observed an ongoing problem with my 1999 Ford Contour where the abs comes on whenever the brake pedal is pressed, especially at lower speeds (under 15 mph). I do not know what failed to cause this condition and offered to bring the car to a Ford dealer for inspection, but they declined to have me do so.

The contact's daughter's car had braking problems. The brakes lagged on reaction time in an emergency braking situation which resulted in the car being totaled. The air bags deployed, and no one was injured. The car was never taken to a mechanic to check the brakes.
The abs engaged continually due to corrosion in the tone ring apparatus. Dealer says it is unusual, and will cost $600.
While driving 25 mph driver attempted to apply the brakes and vehicle continued to accelerate. As a result the vehicle was towed home, and then to the repair shop.

My Ford Contour only has 69000 miles. Already, brakes have had to be replaced twice, dashboard curling up about 6 inches and defrost cover has come loose blocking view, now the timing belt is going bad, had to replace to motor mount. Fuel pump also went out.
Airbags did not deploy when rear ended. My car was pushed into intersection. Damage to car was bumper, had to replace mud guards and attaching hardware. Contacted Ford about my concern they said that the force probably wasn't great enough. Everyone I spoke with asked about the airbags and were suprised when they didn't deploy as the force was greater than 20 miles an hour.
When the driver applied the brakes they locked up and caused the vehicle to experience extended stopping distance.

I have spoken to several people at Ford abs lst recall supr simon id 3082 laughed at my situation and I am completely dissastified with the lack of help especially since there is a safety recall that cld endanger my familieslife.
Traveling approximately 20mph consumer was preparing to stop, when it almost lost control. Consumer will be contacting dealer to determine cause.
After recall was completed problem reccurred and caused damage to other parts of vehicle.
"mod pump" for abs brake system has stopped functioning. No reason given for possible cause of defect. Prior to breaking of the pump, check the engine light came on and stayed on.
While driving about 20 mph next to a close curve saw a deer in front of vehicle on road. Tried to avoid hitting it by stepping on brakes. They locked up, and vehicle rolled over. None of front air bags deployed.
Abs did not work in snow. Dealer said wire harness had moisture in it. Have to replace harness. Cost: $3000+.
When depressing brakes with normal force vehicle continued to travel, causing a crash.
There is a vibration when brakes are applied before making a full stop. This occurs at any given speed. The vehicle's vibration becomes scarey when applying brakes at higher speeds.
When I tried to make a sudden stop the rear wheels locked, the car spun about 90 degrees and hit a bridge. Air bags both deployed, I was injured and taken to a hospital. There was a recall of this vehicle for this problem in April 2000 but I was not sent a recall notice. I received a recall notice on 6-23-2000 after complaining to Ford; Ford did not fulfill their obligation to notify me of this safety recall. My compaint is two-fold: first, Ford has produced a defective product and is responsible for damages caused by this product, and second, Ford failed to notify me in a timely manner about this defect so that I could have the defect corrected. I have suffered minor personal injury, vehicle repair expenses, added insurance premiums (future), trip interuption, and loss of use of the vehicle for approximately 30 days. When I contacted Ford by telephone I was offered kind conversation but no explanation for their negligence, no offer to compensate me for damages, and no other contact at Ford who could respond to my complaint.

Intermittent problems with abs, when applying brakes at 5 mph abs kicks in, there is a pulsing noise at that time. Dealer numerous times, cannot remedy problem.
When consume r stepped on brake pedal to reduce speed or to stop vehicle, he could hear noise coming from the brakes, like they were falling apart.
When consumer applies brakes the pedal goes all the way down to the floor, and car makes a hard noise.
Hydraulic control unit failed, causing erractic performance of abs. Cause is unknown.
Brakes were not operable when applied. Pedal went all the way down to floor and there was a sqeaking noise. Dealership was aware of the noise.
Consumer has had numerous problems with the 1996 Ford Contour. There has been so many recalls on consumer's vehicle that she wasn't aware of because the manufacturer never sent notices. Since then consumer has been paying for entire full price and is asking for reimbursement. However, the biggest problem with the vehicle is the gas fumes which is leaking therefore leaving poisonous carbon monoxide fumes coming in through the heater vents. These harsh chemicals are damaging to the lungs, brain, respiratory system and its making consumer very tired among other symptoms.
Whenever brake are applied they cause a cracking sound. Dealer notified and nformed consumer that it was normal for that vehicle. Seeking help or additional informaton from NHTSA in this matter.
While driving the car began to malfunction and then cut off , when vehicle cut off, driver lost control because the wheels locked up.
Was driving 70mph & started to apply brakes to slow down, vehicle went into a 180 degree spin. Another vehicle hit the right side. Vehicle winded up facing opposite direction towards traffic. Will be taking to dealer.
Problems occurred since car was less than 500 miles old. The cutting off of the engine has been reported from that time and still occurs after 17,600 miles. Problem cannot be found. Loss control of vehicle when the abs and engine shut down when driving during a snowy weather. Loss control of car and went off the road. Other problems include driver seat moves forward intermittently when braking.
1. Parking brake seized without warning in wet weather with outside temperatures below freezing, especially when parking brake was left engaged for several hours while car was parked outdoors. Left rear wheel would lock up intermittently, causing difficulty in maintaining control of vehicle and nearly causing two accidents. Also made ascending icy hills from a stop very difficult, as both rear wheels would lock. This sometimes caused the vehicle to slowly roll backward into path of oncoming traffic. 2. Transmission shifted only at very low engine speeds (less than 2500 rpm), causing much slower than normal acceleration, and excess use of brakes when descending long, steep grades. Driving with knowledge of problem allowed me to avoid situations where rapid acceleration or extended periods of brake use were necessary, but problem still reduced margin of safety. Both these problems were eventually repaired under warranty after numerous dealership denials and delays. Dates and mileages of components failures are estimates, and not exact.
When pumping gas was difficult to start vehicle. A clicking noise was heard. New gas tank was installed. Front and rear brakes were knocking and squealing. Replaced three times. Sunroof motor went out. Replacement made. Also, starter problems occurred. Dealer contacted and repairs were made but problem still exists. Provide further information.
The consumer received a manufacturer's recall on water pump. A week later, consumer heard a knocking noise. Took vehicle back to the dealership, and mechanic told him that the bolts were loose on the water pump. Also, when consumer applied brakes there was a humming noise.
While parking vehicle, the engine suddenly revved up for no reason & then shot forward. Applying brakes, did not stop vehicle. It went over small embankment. Air bags did not deploy.
About 2-3 months after I had my car I tried to trade it in for another car because of the deffects on it, but the dealer would not help me out then. Is there anything I can do about it now? no safety defect listed in the summary.
Brakes: brakes make a loud scraping sound. Front rotors have been changed twice. When driving and applying the brakes, there's a loud scraping noise and the vehicle is very hard to stop. Has been in shop so many times the dealer indicates that there is nothing else they can do for it.
The vehicle's defective braking system causes extended stopping distance which almost cause an accident. Dealer cannot determine problem.
When taking foot off the accelerator pedalvehicle continues to travel at the same speed for 5, 10, or maybe 15 seconds before slowng down. This increases the stopping time for braking. This vehicle to do this. Please provide further information.
When coming to a stop and applying the brakes they make a roaring sound. Dealer claims the brakes are working properly.
