Brake Foundation Components Problems of Ford Contour - part 1

Had vehicle taken in for normal pmi (preventive maintenance inspection) servicing and during inspection-- the rear pcrv (pressure conscious reducing valves were found to be corroded and leaking. This vehicle is operated in WI (salt is used on roadways up here). There is a recall out for this item, but it covers non-abs vehicles only. . . . . . . My vehicle has the abs system. It looks like the recall wasn't expanded far enough. . . . . Problems are still out there!!!!! the technician that did the repair on the car said that he had done that specific recall on other vehicles multiple times, and stated that the replaced pcrvs on my car were the style* valves. . . . . That is why he was concerned and recommended I replace the pcrvs ASAP--- which was done that day. There was no accident/injury/fatality involved in this incident obviously. But there could have been. Driver was traveling at 30 mph when another driver crossed in front of consumer, consumer hit the brakes, and rear of vehicle hydroplaned and flipped ovedr 3 times. Took vehicle to dealer, and they stated that the pcv was defective. Please provide any further information.

Consumer was traveling on highway, and without prior warning water pump shut down, and transmission vibrated when applying brakes. Dealership was aware of problem.

Consumer had just put on new brakes. But, 2 days earlier brakes failed while wife was driving, resulting in a head-on collision. Driver and passenger of other vehicle were injured. Consumer states a vehicle suddenly stopped in front of them and when the brakes were applied the vehicle pulled to the left and hit another vehicle head on.

Consumer states that vehicle will vibrate when brakes are applied, dealer stated rotors were warped, however vibration continues.

While driving at about 5mph and making a right turn right front wheel came off due to loose lugs: nuts. Dealer has seen vehicle. Consumer states the vehicle has experienced problems with the following: fuel filter, spark plugs, transmission, cv boot, brakes, air filter, wire, rotors need turning, timing gear, timing belt, and vehicle will not start.

Consumer states a noise can be heard when the wheels are turned left or right, wheels were replaced once by the dealer, when driving, sometimes vehicle will shake very bad. Vehicle has bad brakes.

Consumers has been to dealer for the same brake problem 7 times before and after recall 00v075001/manufacturer's recall 00s03/ rear brake valves was done. Brakes sqeual when coming to a stop. Dealer couldn't find a remedy. Consumer states brakes squeal and sometimes they feel like there is air in them, dealer has replaced rear brake drums, problem still continues.

Lost control of the car. Tried to overcorrect the car and turned the wheel too hard, the brakes locked and I lost control of the car and rolled it on its roof. There was sufficient frontal impact that the airbags should have been deployed, but didn't. Also, it was a new car, so the brakes should not have locked.

Lost control of vehicle and crash. Vehicle was totalled. Not sure if problem related to recall (00v-075).

Consumer received recall notification (00v-075), however dealership denied service, vehicle does not apply.

The pcrv in the rear brakes may have failed per recall notice 00v-075 prior to recall notice causing consumer to loose control of the vehicle, the vehicle became airborn, jumped a ditch and landed on front bumper. No delpoyment of air bag occured during accident. Nlm.

Consumer called on Feb 2, 2000 to see if parts were in, and they were not in.

While driving and braking engine revved and suddenly accelerated and the brakes would not slow down the vehicle. Had to use the emergency brake, and run up an a curb in order to stop the vehicle. Manufacturer contacted. Please provide further information.

While pulling into garage the consumer could not get the brakes to stop the vehicle resulting in the vehicle hitting a fence and damaging the front of the vehicle, consumer recieved recall 00v-075 regarding pcrv corrosion, consumer request that dealer look at brakes but they refused to check them unless she paid although vehicle was still under warranty. Nlm.

Brakes failed and replaced within the first month, after repair accident occurred due to lack of braking ability, during collision no deployment of the air bag and the seat belt came loose.

Consumer experienced steering problem at 61000. Also, had to change tires and brakes.

The airbag light is on. When applying the brakes there is a squeaking noise coming from the brakes. Also, the front end misalignment, causing vibration.

When driving at any speed and applying the brakes there is a grinding noise coming from the brakes.

Brakes failed.

Braking system malfunctioned, causing a grinding noise every time the vehicle brakes and a vibration in steering wheel occurs. Also ther e is extended stopping distance which may result in an accident. Been to dealer 4 times. Dealer replaced brake pad andshoe assembly and disc brakes twice. Problem is reoccurring. Please provide further information.

Braking system malfunctioned, causing no braking ability and a crash. Also an humming noise in the engine, affecting the way vehicle drives. Please provide further information.

When turning could hear a bumping sound in steering. Took vehicle to dealer. Nothing was found. Noise was louder. Could not control vehicle during rain. The brakes failed to slow & stop vehicle. Had cracked front end. The front suspension sway bar also broke.

While driving at any speed and when applying the brakes, they are not hard but medium. When driving over any speed bump there is a very loud noise coming from the back of the vehicle by the fuel tank.

Brakes and brake line failed.

When driving at any speed and applying the brakes, brakes are working intermittently, and brake pedal goes straight to the floorboard.

When driving at any speed the vehicle vibrates and the vehicle cuts off without giving any prior warning. Also, when applying brakes they are hard and foot goes all the way to the floor. Consumer took the vehicle in for repairs three times, and the dealer had to replaced the air bag due to the fact that thiere wasn't any air in the air bag.

Rear brakes vibrate.

Upon slightly wet surface or possible oil driver applied brakes slightly, he lost control, hitting curb w/cause unknown, resultin gin an accident/injury.

The brakes make a constant grinding noise and mostly when the car is heated, the dealer states this is normal.

During recall repair the vehicle was damaged with a broken brake line and grease was remaining all over the vehicle, consumer is not satisfied with the dealership and the recall repair (00v-075).

Consumer has recieved yet another recall and is fed up because he had had too many things go wrong with this vehicle. Nlm.

Brakes failed twice once while driving in an ice storm, each time brake failure was followed by a grinding noise, had to be applied 3 times before stopping vehicle, serviced twice for this problem, however problem not rectified.

When applying brakes pedal goes to floor, causing extended stopping distance, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
