Have had the vehicle since late 2001 within 5 months had to be taken in for brake problems due to vibration when stopping. Since then the van has had the rotors replaced once a year with them being turned twice. Brake pads are needing to be replaced every 5 to 6 months. I have called Ford each time as well as the dealer. Both have said that this is a common problem they have with these vehicles. I don't pull anything with my van and I am not hard on the brakes. They told me it was because the front end is heavy.

The brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not slow down. The driver applied the pedal harder but the brakes did not engage totally and the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that the brake rotors were pitted and rusted and the brake pads were worn. The power steering gear box leaked.
While driving about 45 mph consumer applied brakes to slow down, and vehicle pulled to the right. Following that consumer was not able to make a left turn, vehicle would only go straight and to right. Took vehicle to dealer, who replaced front brake pads and grounded down front rotors. Since then, every time consumer applied brake brakes squealed loudly. Back to dealer 5 times, cannot remedy squealing, dealer told consumer this squealing when applying brakes was normal for a econoline van.
