1 Service Brakes problem of the 2002 Ford E-150

Failure Date: 06/21/2024

My power steering and brakes went out as I was driving. I was making a turn in town, and I almost collided with another car at the intersection. I pushed the brakes as hard as I could, but it didn't slow down, the car just eventually rolled to a stop on its own. The exact cause is unknown, but it seems like it was a failure in the power steering pump. After turning off the van and turning it back on again a minute later, it started driving normally again.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford E-150

Failure Date: 11/15/2015

When applying the brakes the first braking action doesn't seem to be as effective as say the second application as far as bringing the vehicle to a stop, when in motion. It doesn't seem to matter whether it's on the street or highway or turning. March of 2016 I had to make a sudden stop and didn't think I would avoid the vehicle in front of me. However a semi tractor with trailer rear ended me causing about $5,000. 00 damage to the left rear of the E-150. Before taking the vehicle on vacation I reported the braking issue with the andy mohr Ford in plainfield in. , they said the brakes needed bled with a machine and that if that didn't fix the issue they would bleed them manually. I didn't take it back because they didn't seem to have a clue as to what the problem might be. I paid for the machine bleed, just around $100. 00. I knew from my previous experience as a mechanic, that bleeding the system wouldn't correct the problem, as the brake pedal was solid and not soft or mushy. Anyway, I asked and received a refund and still the problem persists. They did replace the left rear axle seal that I discovered while performing maintenance before taking a trip to florida. The leaking axle seal had no affect with the vehicle stopping as there was no lubricant dripping or slinging onto the rotor or brake calipher. Thank you for your concerns. They would bleed the brakes manually.

The contact sustained medical injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000. Mf.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford E-150

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

The brake foot control locks up and vehicle continues to roll. You can not stop. It's worse when vehicle is cold. In the beginning it was just when backing up after vehicle was just started, now it's also doing the same thing when going forward. You have no stopping power as brake pedal will not do anything and you just continue rolling.

14 Service Brakes problem of the 1996 Ford E-150

Failure Date: 04/28/2014

My vehicle according the NHTSA has recall #09v399000 for the brake system speed control which can catch on fire even in the garage with the vehicle off. I asked Ford to repair this because I just bought this vehicle and they claim there are no recalls on this vehicle, and I know there is and I know the recall hasn't been installed on my vehicle. Are they saying this because time ran out to have this done because I just bought this vehicle or do they just not want to? thanks for your help.

16 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Ford E-150

Failure Date: 03/20/2014

When I started my engine it backfired. From that point on I had to press extremely hard on the brake pedal just to slow down and eventually to stop. In an emergency situation it would without a doubt have resulted in an accident. The incident is exactly as indicated in the recall NHTSA campaign number: 08v208000 (Ford recall #08s05) for the same vehicle, except model year 2005 and 2006. When I contacted Ford I was told that the vehicle was manufactured in August of 2006, but that it was not covered under this recall.

17 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Ford E-150

Failure Date: 06/10/2013

On June 10, 2014 I left my office and traveled across the parking driveway at about 7 mph, a distance of about 150 feet where I attempted to stop(using my right foot on the brake) before making a right hand turn onto a busy fast moving street. At this point my foot hit the brake and accelerator at the same time (they are extremely close) causing me to suddenly lurch forward toward the oncoming traffic coming from my left. Fortunately I was able to quickly use my left foot to power brake and safely stop my vehicle. This was the third time in 250 miles of city driving my new vehicle that this had happened, but the first time I recorded the time and date of the incident, realizing there was a design issue. This is a serious safety problem, I can see many rear end accidents being caused by this design. Since I still own a 2004 Ford e150 van, side by side measurement comparisons were easily made and I think I can see what has happened. The accelerator pedal has been raised about an inch and a quarter higher than my 2004 van and is approximately one quarter inch closer to the brake pedal. In addition because of the large engine cowling, the brake pedal is located mostly to the left of center of the center line of the steering wheel which forces the driver to effectively cross over awkwardly to hit the center of the brake pedal. This is a very unnatural motion not required on any vehicles that I looked at before contacting you. If the brake pedal is pushed down even slightly from the right hand side/edge of the brake pedal (normal habit by most drivers reviewing wear patterns on brake pedals of many vehicles at my office complex) the bottom of a man's right shoe will almost always be somewhat over the accelerator, and the potential for dual/simultaneous brake and accelerator pushing is created.

18 Service Brakes problem of the 1996 Ford E-150

Failure Date: 04/21/2013

Vehicle was parked, and upon entering noticed the smell of an electrical fire. Started the vehicle, odometer was inoperable and vehicle would not shift out of park. Upon further inspection, found a blown 15 amp fuse in the fuse panel. Replaced fuse, odometer came back on and vehicle shifted out of park. Approximately 10 seconds later, the smell of burning wiring was evident, as was smoke from under the hood. Pulled the fuse back out, opened the hood to find the brake pressure switch on fire, which melted the brake fluid reservoir as well as the battery casing also.

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Ford E-150

The contact owns a 2006 Ford E-150. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph and depressing the brakes when he noticed an increase in stopping distance and time.
