1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2024

The component that failed was my break booster and I almost wasn't able to stop. I took my vehicle to my local independent service center and they said I am lucky and that the break booster broke and it was just hanging on by a little bit and that is the only reason I was able to stop my vehicle. No warning lamps came on that it broke or was not functioning properly. It took longer to stop and almost caused an accident. The mechanic informed me this should never happen and to report my issue. I have not had it inspected by any authority but it was inspected by my personal mechanic at their independent shop.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2022

My brakes on my car was not stopping when I was applying my brakes. I've taken good care of my car and I am the only owner of my Edge. No warning signals-only 67k miles on my car. It happened several times within the last month. I took my car into hansel Ford in santa rosa, CA where I bought my car in 2008. The brake booster needed replacing. It was a matter of life or death! so $1,000 later I had to pay. What? the same brake booster on 2011 Edges were being replaced. This is a Ford defect problem. No one should drive a car that the brakes don't stop the car! no warning lights, messages, the part from Ford was defective. I had my car repaired at hansel Ford in santa rosa, CA phone number 707. 543. 7460.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2020

Right after I purchased this vehicle, I noticed that it had a bad jerk, and chugging in the transmission. With the overdrive "off", it keeps the rpm's above 2000, and prevents it from chugging and jerking in the transmission. With the overdrive on it gears down extremely low after going down to 2000 rpm's, and losses a lot of power. When pressing down the gas pedal, it chugs and jerks severely. I have to let off the gas and then reapply the gas to stop it from jerking. Also, the power steering pops and makes noises. I got in the car today and had no brake power at all. Then had no brakes unless I pushed the brake pedal down with extreme force. And it was still extremely hard to stop my vehicle. Upon searching online, I am finding that these are very common issues with the 2008 Ford Edge vehicles. There should be some type of recall on this model of Ford Edge when this is a very common problem, in my opinion. I did a search for my VIN number and it shows "no" recalls for my vehicle. I understand it'd not a new vehicle, but the amount of issues with this vehicle is ridiculous. Please help!!!.

I have a Ford Edge 2008. Starting from 08/28/2017, the brake makes "hassing" sound when it is pressed down. It is as hard as a rock at the beginning and soft as a sponge later. It's function is compromised. When it happened yesterday, it caused couple of very dangerous situation. I almost hit two cars in front and over run a traffic light because the car cannot fully stop fully. I drove this car to the dealer this morning. It was brake booster problem according to the tech service. He drove the car and felt extremely dangerous to drive the car because of the compromised brake function. However due to his tight schedule, he cannot fit my car into his repair service. Ford issue a recall 13n02 in 2016 for brake booster problem. However it only covers cars 2010-2013. There are plenty of complaints online regarding the same problem for cars made in other years. It is a systematic problem that relates to the design other than manufacturing process related to batches. A systematic recall should be done before any customer gets into a fatal situation.

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2016

First I was driving when my breaks started to feel like they were locking up. Come to find out it was the power break booster which cost me $504. 00. Then 2 weeks later my car starts to do a putting feeling and come to find out 2 of the coils burnt up the power control module costing me $1058. 00. A few months before this it was in the Ford dealership because of a leak on the fuel pump. Costing me $216. I am furious I have had to spend this in the last month. I just seen on the news that Ford has a recall on the power control module but it was not my year. I am simply asking if someone would please look into this so maybe I can get some of this money back to pay off the debt it caused me.

26 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

Recall 13n02 covers the brake booster in 2010-2015 Ford Edge. My 2008 Edge has the exact same issue as diagnosed by a Ford dealership. It is the exact same issue with the exact same component. The replacement part for either is the exact same, as I verified with numerous suppliers. The recall needs to be expanded to cover more years, as my wife now drives an unsafe vehicle. Ford redesigned the Edge for the 2010 model year but used the exact same, now recalled component. Braking is difficult at all speeds, much harder than the days before power brakes.

29 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2016

When traveling on highway with cruise control engaged, a need for rapid braking resulted in a momentary "hard" brake pedal before disengaging cruise control. When stopped at traffic signal with foot on brake, pedal gradually sinks towards floorboard and feels soft and "mushy" attempt at braking while driving along at steady speed (50mph), the brake pedal was hard and resistant resulting in delayed braking action. Potential for accident.

30 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2016

Brake pedal became "mooshy" and when depressed would make a hissing sound. The vehicle took extra time/length to stop. Took to dealer and brake booster needed to be replaced. 33 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2015

When breaking the break pedal was very difficult to push and slow in reacting. This nearly caused an accident on the first incident in a standard braking situation. After that the breaks seemed to be back to normal. This has happened a couple more times and the car is really not safe to drive. If emergency braking was needed there would be no way to stop in time and was very near to causing multiple accidents in normal driving. We have been told it is the brake booster that is the problem. This is a problem that Ford is aware of and has offered to fix this issue on newer models. This is a major safety issue that needs to addressed.

34 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2015

As I was driving to work last Friday, June 5th, I stepped on my breaks and they did not respond. I re-pumped and was lucky enough to avoid a collision. I took the car to five star Ford in plano TX where they have looked it and advised that the break booster is not working as it should and needs to be replaced. They quoted me $618. 25 to do this work. I decided to review the recall information as I remember seeing something about this part. Sure enough Ford has recalled the 2012 - 2014 Ford Edge models for the break booster - the same issue impacting my model. I am writing to make you aware of this safety issue.

35 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2015

While stopped driver pressed hard on brake pedal causing a loud whistling sound from the engine compartment. Brought vehicle to dealer, where it was determined to be the brake booster. Dealer indicated there was a customer satisfaction program issued by Ford. As it turned out the csp only covered 2010 - 2013 Edges. Dealer indicated if part failed braking would be compromised. No assistance from Ford and a $550 bill to repair. Research of others with 2008 Ford Edge and brake booster problems revealed numerous others with this known problem. Ford shame on you, this could have been a catastrophic problem.
