The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle or driving at various speeds, both the door ajar warning and the door ajar warning light illuminated for the rear passenger door on multiple occasions. The contact stated that despite shutting the door again, the alarm was still heard and the door ajar warning light remained illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the interior lights remained on despite the vehicle being turned off, which led to draining the battery and the vehicle not restarting. An independent mechanic went to the residence to replace the battery. The vehicle was then taken to a local Ford dealer where the rear passenger door latch was replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The door ajar warning alarm and warning light were illuminated for the rear passenger door and later caused the battery to drain again. An independent mechanic went to the contact's residence again and the battery was replaced. The vehicle was then taken back to the local dealer where the door latch was replaced again. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
