Vehicle had brake failure to brake booster issues. Ford states not covered under recall but having exact issue of recall. Vehicle was in motion when brakes failed, turning into a daycare center.
1. Low engine oil pressure light continues to come on and cause the vehicle engine to seize up. Checked oil level which was good and changed oil. While driving the vehicle on city streets it continues to seize the engine up and cause the vehicle to become stationary. It takes a few tries before the engine will turn over when I try to restart the vehicle. 2. The brake issue continues to happen daily that the brakes will fail and not allow me to use them while in stop and go traffic. It seems to do alright on the freeway or when I am at a constant speed. They make a whooshing sound and make the brakes extremely difficult to push the brake pedal down and sometimes it will not allow me to use the brakes at all. I have taken it to 2 different mechanics and I am waiting for an appointment to go to the Ford dealership and have it checked out. The low engine oil pressure light has been going on for months. It will come on and go off quite often but it is not throwing any codes so the mechanic shops can't diagnose the issue. The brake issue is fairly recent within the last 2 weeks. I have an appointment on October 27th 2020 at 8 am for the brake and engine issue.
I was driving my 2013 Ford Edge and came to a stop sign (on a city street). The brakes stopped but the break petal felt "spongy". The break petal continue to go down and I heard a noise. With the break pedal still down my car started rolling. I drove straight to my mechanic. He said it was a break booster problem. He printed out customer satisfaction program 13n02 for me. I slowly drove home on back streets and almost ran through a red light because the brakes failed again. I had to constantly pump them to get it to stop. Ford has recalls on this problem but the Ford customer service (at 800-392-3673) said my vehicle was built at the oakville assembly plant in July 2013 instead of from may 3, 2010-March 28,2013 therefore my Ford is not on their recall which I feel it definitely should be.
On (4) four separate occasions the vehicles brake system failed while driving.
In September 2014, Ford has issued a "customer satisfaction" notice regarding the extended warranty on brake function component. Notice id :13n02. The issue was possibility of break booster premature failure leading to unpredictable braking performance. There are 2 significant issues with this notice: 1. The part that fails is a major safety issue and should have been treated with immediate recall instead of an extended warranty offering - as the failure of this part leads to unpredictable braking performance at an unpredictable time frame. 2. It only covers vehicles produced between certain dates, while the real extent of faulty brake system component goes way beyond the scope covered in this notice. I own a 2013 Ford Edge truck with production date of 06/13. The mileage on this vehicle is under 58000. About a week ago the braking function of this car has failed significantly leading to a near crash situation. This happened when I was driving closer to a traffic stop at about 20 mph and started gradually applying brakes and to my surprise the car kept on moving without any noticeable braking applied. Realizing that, I pressed the pedal much harder to a degree that would be close to activating abs and only then the car came to a hard stop. After experiencing this I started researching online and have learned about Ford's notice of extended warranty on brake booster part failure - 13n02. I had exactly the same symptoms as described in this bulletin. Upon visiting dealership, they refused to service my car under this extended warranty as my car was just outside the production dates covered by 13n02. Upon further research, I have learned that this issue impacted a much larger number of Ford Edge 2013 owners, whose safety concerns are plainly ignored by Ford motor company same as is my case. Both dealership and the Ford hotline refused to anything about it.

Brake booster failure causing decreased stopping power. Ford released a bulletin 13n02 covering this vehicle up until March of 2013. Vehicle was manufactured in July of 2013 at same plant. Calling them, they stated that they will not cover. My vehicle has 128k miles on it and they offered an extended warranty on the bulletin for 10 years 150000 miles due to the high rate of failures and safety issues. Dealership and Ford customer care are unwilling to acknowledge that the problem continued longer than their cut off dates. The vehicle was in motion at the time of failure at highway speeds of 60mph . During traffic, as the brakes booster failed during normal stopping in congested traffic, my wife had to swerve to avoid the car in front of her as she pumped her brakes to try to stop the vehicle. Fortunately her experience allowed her to avoid an accident. The local service station, found that the booster had failed, but was a few months out from Fords supplement date. I'm asking that the NHTSA review the problem and will be saving parts and service repairs for further information if needed.
Vacuum brake booster needs to be replaced. I went to drive my car, backing out of my driveway, and immediately the brakes were extremely hard to push on. Luckily I was backing out of my garage, but my brakes failed, and I had to hit the emergency brake to make the car stop. I had a 1 year old in the car, and this is a huge safety issue. Also, I had noticed earlier that when I was in drive, but sitting at a light, the car would shake. A minute later, the car died.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the brake booster system failed to operate. The contact heard an air leak sound while depressing the brake pedal. The brake pedal also felt hard and was difficult to depress. The contact drove to an independent mechanic and was informed of an unknown recall regarding the brake booster. The contact also drove to frank fletcher Ford (3015 turkey creek rd, joplin, mo 64801, 417-429-4495) where it was determined that the VIN was not included in a recall. The dealer provided a cost estimate for the repairs. The contact then spoke with the manufacturer who also stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 165,000.
The brakes became mushy and lost all stopping ability while driving almost causing me to run into vehicles in front of me. The Ford dealer informs me that the brake booster has failed and it will cost $950. 00 to repair/replace. The dealer also informed me that while there is a recall on this exact problem on the 2013 Ford Edge, my VIN number is not included. My vehicle only has approximately 45 thousand miles on it and only driven by my wife and I in and around the local area. . . We are both in our 70s. While researching this issue I found that there are literally hundreds of brake booster failures on the 2013 Ford Edge that are exactly like the failure I experienced. So why would my VIN number be excluded from the recall. Obviously this is a defective brake system and should be repaired at no cost to me.
Brakes started losing grip as I entered a 4-way stop. Car barely stopped and brakes worked intermittently after. Brake booster failed. An extremely common problem on Ford Edge cars. Mine missed the chance to be covered under extended warranty by one! month. Lucky the car stopped, unlucky that it was an expensive fix.
A day ago as I was driving my 2013 Ford Edge, I noticed that it took more effort to press the brake pedal and went almost to the floor. When I did this it made a hissing and squeak sound. I brought the vehicle in to be checked at a Ford dealership in delaware. They told me it is the brake booster and will need to be replaced. They told me the cost would be $1100. I found a Ford customer service bulletin #13n02 that specifically explains what I am having repaired. This bulletin affects 2010 to 2013 Ford Edge for 10 years or 150,000 miles. I was told by the dealership my Edge VIN is not on the list. I called Ford and they are looking into it but they need to cover this as I was told can pose a dangerous situation of the brakes failing.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While driving and attempting to stop at a traffic light, the brakes did not work. The vehicle was halfway past the light in the middle of the intersection. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake boosters failed. The mechanic referred the contact to a dealer. The contact called norm reeves Ford Lincoln (18900 studebaker rd, cerritos, CA 90703) and was informed that the repair would cost $800. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The contact discovered that a safety letter was issued for the brakes for an extended warranty when the vehicle was owned by the previous owner. The failure mileage was 109,000.
Brakes were not working effectively - spongy feeling and brake fluid was low. Took into the shop and it was diagnosed with a power brake booster failure. Did some research and this part is a known issue for the model and year of my car but not for my VIN. Technician was reluctant to let me drive off the lot as this is very dangerous. Not sure why Ford has only chosen to replace some of these parts that it knows are faulty. Mileage is 72k.
Brake booster failure causing difficulty bringing vehicle to full stop. Very hard pedal. I almost went into cross traffic, which was going at 55mph. I needed two feet to bring car to full stop.
Brake booster failed causing serious decline in braking distance to a point where I felt the car was unsafe to drive. I almost got in an accident because of this. In my opinion this is a part that should never fail. Vehicle was in motion and almost rear ended someone because of the braking distance was increased by a large amount.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the brake pedal felt spongy and traveled to the floorboard when depressed. The contact heard an abnormal, intermittent noise when the failure occurred. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not included in extended warranty coverage number: 13n02 (brake booster 2010-2013 Ford Edge & Lincoln mkx). Veterans Ford (3724 veterans memorial blvd, metairie, la 70002, (504) 887-8410) indicated that the brake booster failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was at the dealer awaiting further diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was not available.
No set time the brakes fails. Goes to the floor instead of stopping and it doesn't matter what rate of speed you're traveling. Even after thinking Ford fixed it I almost got into an accident because the brakes failed. Ford fixed it by doing a flush, cost charged me a lot of money for nothing or they don't know what they're doing.

Vehicle brake not stopping as normal. Brake seems to fail - need to press hard and almost crashed.
When you push the brake pedal, you think you aren't going to stop, then it suddenly catches and throws on the brake, making a sudden stop. I went to Ford dealer and they say it's not covered by Ford even though many 2013 Edges are having the problem and are covered for brake booster failure. No reason for why some are covered and ours isn't. Dealer wants $450, but doesn't have brake booster parts. I am afraid to drive this car now. Called Ford customer care and they issued an extended warranty coverage #13n02 for the brake booster problems in 2013 Ford Edge & Lincoln mkx. Our VIN number, however, is not covered. Ford customer service doesn't know why ours isn't covered, but still not willing to do anything for us. We have 55,000 miles, so our regular warranty has expired.
Power brake booster failed. I was moving and tried to stop and had a difficult time stopping. Break peddle could not be pushed. Ford is aware of the issue (see Ford service bulletin 13n02). Although my vehicle is the same it does not fit under the service bulletin. This is a very dangerous cituation. It almost made me pull into on coming traffic. I was stopping at a stop sign before pulling on to a state road where traffic was going 55 mph. Tri- state Ford in amarillo texas confirmed the booster was bad just like described in the service bulletin 13n02. I am paying almost $600 to fix something f has acknowledged is a problem after I almost had a wreck. Why did I not get a letter to tell me of the possible problem. Why did I almost have to have a wreck to discover what Ford has known for years?.
The brake booster failed inspection for total parts and labor cost of $672. Some 2013 Ford Edges were recalled for this but not mine. I called Ford motor company to inquire but once I stated my question, representative hung up. I tried calling back but no one picked up. I want to know why my specific Edge was not included when it obviously should have been.
Each time I pressed the brake pedal to stop my 2013 Ford Edge on city streets and on interstates, the brake made a hissing sound and was difficult to push to stop my vehicle. I noticed the problem June 21 2018 shortly before going out of town. Upon returning, I made an appointment at a local Ford dealership for July 12. The service department employee told me that the brake booster had to be replaced. My vehicle's computer system showed that my brakes were okay, so this major repair of $732 surprised me. After researching the Ford customer satisfaction program 13no2, I discovered my vehicle wasn't included in this extended warranty for brake boosters. The Edge manufacturing cut off date was March 28, 2013 and my Edge was manufactured may 2, 2013. I contacted the Ford customer service department to express concern that my Edge exhibited the same braking problems as those that were covered in the extended warranty program. I was assigned a case number and was told my case was escalated to the service manager who would review it. My receipt from the dealership states that the brake booster was faulty and I called Ford's customer service department when the repair was complete. I was told that Ford would not assist me financially with all or part of the cost to replace the brake booster. Because of my research, I know I am not the only 2013 Ford Edge owner whose faulty brake booster has had to be replaced at the owners' expense. The brake booster failure is a safety hazard for the vehicle driver as well as others on the roads. I have included a scan of my repair receipt and a scan of the chat I had with the Ford customer service representative.
The brake booster has failed on my vehicle. I contacted Ford. They advised me they are aware of the problem on this make and model, but my vehicle isn't covered. I need to know why Ford refuses to repair the brakes on my vehicle when they know there is problem. Ford issued a customer satisfaction program to cover certain vehicles. But refuse to cover other vehicles of the same make and model with the exact same defect. The brake booster has failed on my vehicle, making unsafe to drive. Ford will not cover the repair. The vehicle has 48. 000 miles on it.
Brake booster failure at 88000 miles. Abrubt onset of hard brake pedal with slow braking response. Very hard pressure application would eventually stop car. Apparent recall on same part but Ford is not covering repair cost.
Brake booster failure. 2013 Ford Edge sport. I hear a hissing coming from my brake pedal when it is depressed. Also the pedal is either hard to depress and/or will fade to the floor. When I noticed the failure I was traveling in city traffic. I nearly rear ended a vehicle, trying to get my vehicle to stop. I saw there was a customer service program # 13n02 for 2010-2013 Ford Edge's. For some reason mine was not included, but has failed the exact same way. I am responsible for the cost of the repair.
The power brake booster has failed at 69000 miles. This failure is consistent with failures Ford has fixed on the Ford Edge manufactured prior to March 28, 2013. My car was manufactured in may of 2013. I do not feel that Ford resolved the issue with the brake booster failure. This creates a dangerous driving condition with the large amount of pressure required to stop the car. In several cases, I was unable to stop the care safely. Ford issued a service notification for the vehicles manufactures prior to March 28, 2013, - 13n02. I feel that the issue was not addressed and continues past that date.
Brake booster failure. Hard to stop, hissing noise, hard to back up, at idle when at stop light car cuts off, if at stop sign for too long with foot on breaks car shakes then cuts off, can't make sudden brake or car jerk and then is hard to stop, air pressure noise when applying breaks. When driving at speed while turning and trying to break to slow down, car won't slow down. Break peddle extremely hard when breaking.
Began to experience power brake booster failure. Heard a hissing noise when brakes were applied. Found a 'extended warranty' for the power brake booster. My vehicle falls 2 months past the cut off. I feel that this is a major manufacturer defect that should include all vehicles.
13n02 has already been issued for this same issue on my same make and model vehicle; namely the brake booster. However, my VIN was not valid for the agreed upon 10 year extended warranty/one time labor & material repair program. Our vehicle has experienced a brake booster failure at 32288 miles. Premature failure and what my family considers a safety risk. Soft pedal results when pumping the brakes on just the second push downward.
