I was told once that body control module wàs bad then I call to get it replaced and they said it wasn't bad. Windshield wipers go when they want then sometimes they won't work at all. Windows will roll down when rolling up or roll up when rolling down. Radio has been delayed. Sometimes definitely not eco boost. Pushes slower than my grandma's 1999 Buick. Brake boost was replaced in July ànd now again I have no breaks whatsoever I have to drive with the emergency brake.
While driving the car randomly shuts off when it wants to. Does it approximately every half hour to 1 hour of drive time. When it shuts off the dash board goes dark, and the engine shuts off. The car needs to be coasted to the side of the road with no power brakes, or power steering, and put in park. As soon as the car is stopped and parked it can be started back up again. Multiple times it has shut off in heavy traffic and almost caused an accident, 1 time was in a construction zone on the highway where there was no place to pull off so I had to come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway and restart the car. The car was taken to the Ford dealership and they inspected it for 1 full week and they said they could not verify what is causing the issue and told me to continue driving vehicle and when problem starts happening more often to bring it back in. There are no warning lights that come on, and there are no symptoms that are associated with the problem. The car first started doing it approximately 1 month ago, at about 75,000 miles. Car currently has 76,561.
This is a known issue for the Ford Edge. The voltage regulator on the alternator goes out prematurely. The sync system will shut down while driving and also disable many features of the vehicle. Such as the radio turning off, doors not unlocking, shifting disabled, headlights turn on dimly, etc. The battery tests normal and so does the alternator, however the regulator within the alternator will not pass through enough charge to the battery to stay charged. Hence, why most people will change the battery and still have the problem later. I understand as parts age they do fail, however this has been a known issue since early versions of the car and it has yet to be corrected. Many of the complaints on NHTSA are related to this, however some people are not aware due to lack of testing the particular item. They will write complaints about radio shutting off or headlights wont turn on(which is really dangerous as well). It often happens while driving, a warning will show up saying "sync shutting down. . . . . ". Driver's are unaware that they are only driving on the battery power at this point because when they get it checked by a mechanic, both the battery and alternator test as they are supposed too. They alternator is still creating voltage however the regulator, not tested individually, won't allow enough to go through to recharge the battery. The most concerning part is if certain electrical components not deemed necessary by the sync system are shut down they could lead to more catastrophic incidents. For example; abs braking not slowing the vehicle, door wont unlock in emergency situation, etc. I had both battery and alternator checked by a tech from oreilly's auto parts and a mechanic from a local auto shop. I was informed that it must be the battery since the alternator is performing, so the battery was changed Friday 08/13/2021. Vehicle was fine until driving Monday 08/15/2021 and warning showed up again.
Backup camera started having issues (screen image upside down, screen flashing) 3 years ago. Dealer stated this is common complaint and since the car was not under warranty the estimated repair could be upwards to $2,000. I asked if the issue was common and pointed out there was a recall on new Ford cars and trucks due to backup camera issues, and why this issue shouldn't be covered as it is has the same problem that the recall on newer vehicle has? there was no response other than asking if I wanted the camera fixed, or not.
Driver door ajar indicator remains on even when door is fully closed. This results in doors not being able to lock, posing a possible safety issue. This is happening randomly. Additionally, the interior light on continuous illumination which could result in dead battery.
I have been having issues with the backup camera on this model. I replaced the camera and still having issues. A warning message is displayed and says contact dealer. I've recently noticed a recall on newer model Fords and wonder why there wasn't a recall on the later models since there is the same issue with the newer models.
Even though the door is closed, the door open signal is on and will stay on and I cannot lock the car. It was happening periodically, now it is consistent. After reviewing the NHTSA website, I noticed that 19n09 was issued and I never received the notice to bring the car in.
Light keeps coming on while driving, saying left passenger door is not closed. Shortly after that started the wipers started coming on by themselves once the car is started. We do not have automatic wipers. While looking online to try to figure out why this was happening, discovered many other people had the same problem on this year, make & model. There should be a recall on this since there are so many!.
Left rear door ajar light remains on even when door is fully closed. Interior lights remain on while driving. Vehicle is garaged when not in use.
Passanger door adjar light on all the time and doors will not lock with light on. A safety hazard when in high crime areas. Have recall for drivers door but not passanger door.
Over a year ago my driver side door would be closed and my Edge would said door ajar leaving the lights on and me unable to lock my doors. After dropping a bunch of money the latch was replaced and has a warranty on it. My passenger door is now doing this and if my driver door has a warranty meaning whatever company is aware of this happening and covering it, I want my passenger door covered without me being out any money! it is hard times right now and any help would be great!.
My 2013 Ford Edge has been having issues with the driver's door latch sensor. The sensor does not work properly and the vehicle computer is constantly thinking that my door is ajar. It illuminates the interior lights causing distractions and safety issues for me trying to drive and other drivers around me, especially since I work 3rd shift and do a lot of nighttime driving. It has drained my battery numerous times due to it setting my alarm off intermittently because it all of the sudden thinks my door is open when I have it parked. I have read so many complaints of this issue. This should have been a recall by Ford years ago as this is a safety hazard. Ford sent a letter out stating that they would do a one-time courtesy fix for people having this problem, however, they listed requirements for mileage and age of vehicle that you had to meet to have them fix it. So even though I have owned this car since 35,000 miles, they told me that I didn't qualify. Ford is not going to step up on their own and be responsible about this, they need it to be forced on them to do so.
2013 Ford Edge unexpectedly stalls while driving on street. Vehicle sets a code and not corrected. Now determined throttle body module need replacement. Also have a 2015 Ford Edge that exhibited same problem. It was determined the purge valve was bad. A know number of people had this similar problems. Any future activity being talked about.
Tl- the contact's aunt owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 20 mph, when the transition warning light was illuminated and the vehicle began to decelerate it's speed. The contact was able to park on the side of the road and turn off the ignition. The contact stated when restarting the ignition the waring light turned off. The vehicle was taken to local dealer koons Ford Lincoln of annapolis located at 2540 riva rd, annapolis, MD 21401, (410) 224-2100 and was unable to duplicated the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 131, 995. Dp.
Temperature blend door actuator keeps failing. It will either get stuck and stay on cold or get stuck on hot and won't switch over. I've had to replace this every year for the last 3 years now. I should have to be replacing a part like this every time the seasons change.
Drivers side front door door ajar always staying on. Even after door is closed. Battery drains because dome light stays on. Happens when driving and when parked.
Cars door says it's open while driving even when it's closed completely. Also wipers don't swipe up and down.
Vehicle door ajar warning light appears on dash as a bright red warning when door is actually closed. Loud beeping warning sound continually sounds off while driving, causing a distraction making unsafe to drive. Driver ignores other warning banners and alerts because this "door ajar alert" is constantly on and ringing. The driver and passengers are in danger because the saftey automatic door locks dk not lock while driving. The driver cannot lock doors with key fob because the door sensor shows the door is ajar. Dome lights are constantly on while driving make it very difficult driving at night, impeding sight of street signs, street maintenance workers, other vehicles, and pedestrians.
My ac is blowing hot air on the driver side and cold air on the passenger side.
Driver door says ajar after closing door draining battery alarm goes off in middle of the night as battery drains and eventually dies.
The door ajar light is on indicating that the driver's side back door is opened even though the door is closed. As a result you cannot lock the doors and the light stays on inside the car. I called Ford and they are not willing to repair the problem even though there was a recall for the same issue on the driver's side front door. This occurs while the car is in park or in drive and while in motion at low or higher speeds.
I have been having problems for over a year with a defective door switch on the driver's side rear door causing the "door ajar" warning light to display and the interior lights to stay on when the door is shut tight. The warning light will stay on the entire time the car is running, whether stationary or moving. Recently I received the attached customer satisfaction program letter 19n09. As you can see it clearly states that Ford's offer to replace the defective switch free of charge is for the drivers side front door only. I chatted with a Ford customer service representative on January 29, 2020 and was told that at this time their offer does not extended to other doors. I was also told to contact the NHTSA and file a complaint. In recent months I have checked on several Ford owner websites and have found that defective door switch problem is happening on any doors of the affected Ford owners' vehicles. To me this makes Ford's offer pointless to the majority of the vehicles with defective door switches! on behalf of myself and all other Ford owners with this problem I would like to see Ford extend this free repair to any vehicle doors with the defective switches! please help us!!.
I reported about 3 -4 years ago about door ajar problem. My car was in warranty then. Received letter to-day Jan 2020 about fixing problem now my car according to them is out of warranty and now they will not cover this defect. There should be no time frame on this issue. It is a factory defect they just want consumer to pay once again for there defect not a happy camper. I will not recommend a Ford to any one as they do not stand by there products.
Door ajar warning light is always on the passenger door, at night the doors unlock themselves, and interior light is on causing battery drainage.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the door ajar warning light illuminate and the contact had to turn the vehicle on and place the vehicle in park while opening and closing the door for the warning light to not be displayed. The contact stated that the procedure needed to be performed several times. The contact had taken the vehicle to a certified mechanic but was unable to confirm whether or not any repairs were performed. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 147,000.
My car tells me my door is at ajar but it's not.
Vehicle exhibits illuminated dome lights and door ajar messages when doors are closed and fully latched. Right rear door. Vehicle was stationary and dome light remained on for a short time, but "door ajar" message stayed on while car was in motion.
Door ajar warning comes on which makes thee interior lights stay on, when this warning happens the doors will not lock. Tonight, it was especially dangerous when this warning happened after dark and the interior lights stayed on while driving home which is a 20 minute commute. It makes it difficult to see what's happening outside the car, especially when you live in the country trying to Dodge deer becomes 100% harder with interior lights on.
Drivers side rear door will randomly set the cars alarm off saying the door is opened when in fact the door is closed. This has drained my battery once, needing a new replacement. I replaced the door switch because Ford dealership told me it was bad ($400) and it still randomly goes off. This issue has left me stranded several times due to the battery being drained.
The door sensor to let the car know the door was closed, failed, resulting in a constant "door ajar" message. This occurred on the driver side door and started shortly after I purchased the car (used) in 2017 and was no longer covered under warranty. For the better part of the past 2 years I was able to repeatedly open/close the door until the sensor recognized that the door was actually closed, but that no longer became an option as of 9/9/2019. No matter how many attempts were made to open/close the door, I could no longer manipulate the sensor. Two impacts occurred as a result of this: 1. The car doors would not lock. Since the car believed the door was ajar, every time you would go to lock the doors, the car would automatically unlock them. This poses a safety issue. 2. The interior dome light remained lit, resulting in a dead battery. I had no choice but to spend approximately $350 dollars to have the sensor replaced. I have seen many, many complaints online from Edge owners with the same issue, yet Ford is not being held liable for faulty equipment. This is an unfair expense to pass on to the consumer. If the issue is not identified as a "recall", the least that could be done is for the issue to be fixed at no charge by Ford, if/when the issue arises for the owner.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50-55 mph, the service engine soon warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63000. Ah.
My back up camera says "camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership. " when I put the car in reverse. I just bought the car two days ago and it started doing this, this morning.
The "door ajar" sensor is faulty and has come on after closing my door and while driving even though all doors are shut properly. I went somewhere and parked my car and left for several hours. When I closed my door, the "door ajar" sensor was faulty and remained on which subsequently kept the cabin lights on and eventually drained my battery and left me stuck. I have also witness the sensor go off while driving and I have had to open and close the door while the car is moving to try to stop the chiming of the sensor. As a safety concern, this can result in you being distracted while driving or stranded with a dead battery. This is unacceptable.
July 21, 2019 driving along on a 35 mph road and car just stopped accelerating when pushing gas pedal. Wrench indicator appeared and had to put car in neutral to safely pull over. Car did restart after shutting off. Same incident happened an hour later going the same speed. We researched and found the numerous other Ford Edge same complaints that the throttle body was in need of replacement. Had it replaced and car is running smooth with no problems. This was a very scary and concerning issue. I can't imagine being on the expressway like others have experienced. Ford make this right and put out a recall.
2013 Ford Edge current issue: without any warning brakes started hissing and screeching. In the same day the brakes were hard to press and did not stop the car and then they were loose to the floor, but they did not stop the car. I googled and found out that some vehicles with the same year 2013 have a recall, but my VIN was not included. The symptoms lead to a failing break booster. My cars information system check does not show any warnings, brakes say ok, but I am not able to drive my car. The brakes are not grinding. Twice I had to swerve onto the shoulder of the highway to avoid rear ending the car in front of me. This is frightening to occur to anyone without a system warning.
