The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while attempting to apply the brake, the brake pedal went to the floor and failed to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was slowing down but not as designed. The contact pumped the brake pedal and turned the steering wheel to avoid crashing into another vehicle was stopping. The contact stated that while idling at a traffic light, the vehicle shut-off. The contact stated that the vehicle had to be shifted into park while stopped at a traffic light to prevent the vehicle from inadvertently turning off. The contact stated that the check engine, brake failure, and low oil warning lights were illuminated. The door latches also failed to lock the vehicle whenever the vehicle was started. The doors would suddenly lock or fail to lock as the contact continued to drive. The contact stated that she was unable to manually lock the doors occasionally. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the door latch and the brake booster needed to be replaced. The brake booster, master cylinder, vacuum hose, two unknown sensors, and brake fluid were all replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the mileage was past the limit for the extended warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000.
My 2013 Ford Edge has been having issues with the driver's door latch sensor. The sensor does not work properly and the vehicle computer is constantly thinking that my door is ajar. It illuminates the interior lights causing distractions and safety issues for me trying to drive and other drivers around me, especially since I work 3rd shift and do a lot of nighttime driving. It has drained my battery numerous times due to it setting my alarm off intermittently because it all of the sudden thinks my door is open when I have it parked. I have read so many complaints of this issue. This should have been a recall by Ford years ago as this is a safety hazard. Ford sent a letter out stating that they would do a one-time courtesy fix for people having this problem, however, they listed requirements for mileage and age of vehicle that you had to meet to have them fix it. So even though I have owned this car since 35,000 miles, they told me that I didn't qualify. Ford is not going to step up on their own and be responsible about this, they need it to be forced on them to do so.
1. Low engine oil pressure light continues to come on and cause the vehicle engine to seize up. Checked oil level which was good and changed oil. While driving the vehicle on city streets it continues to seize the engine up and cause the vehicle to become stationary. It takes a few tries before the engine will turn over when I try to restart the vehicle. 2. The brake issue continues to happen daily that the brakes will fail and not allow me to use them while in stop and go traffic. It seems to do alright on the freeway or when I am at a constant speed. They make a whooshing sound and make the brakes extremely difficult to push the brake pedal down and sometimes it will not allow me to use the brakes at all. I have taken it to 2 different mechanics and I am waiting for an appointment to go to the Ford dealership and have it checked out. The low engine oil pressure light has been going on for months. It will come on and go off quite often but it is not throwing any codes so the mechanic shops can't diagnose the issue. The brake issue is fairly recent within the last 2 weeks. I have an appointment on October 27th 2020 at 8 am for the brake and engine issue.
While driving in town car lost power and limped along. Yellow/orange wrench light came on. Pulled over turned engine off then restarted, worked fine. Manual said power train loss of power. Three times it's happened and Ford can't find code to determine problem. No confidence in car. If happened on highway at high speeds there probably would have been major accident.
Fuel leaks while filling tank. Fuel runs out below mud flap.
While the vehicle is in motion at highway speeds, the transmission fails to shift into 5th or 6th gear causing excessive rpms, noise, and shaking to the frame at speeds above 50 mph. This could be potentially hazardous and cause severe transmission damage over a short period of time if not repaired.
The engine light is on in my car. I took it to a repair shop and they said it had the codes of p2196 and p2198 a h02s heated oxygen sensor is malfuntioning. When the rep pulled up the codes he informed me they had thousands of my same vehicle with the same problem. I contacted Ford warranty and they said it was not covered. This is horrible for Ford to know this is a defect on their vehicle and not be responsible for fixing it. So I would like to launch this formal complaint. I will never buy another Ford vehicle again. The aip has gone out in my vehicle and I have had other issues that the Ford warranty has said did not apply. The vehicle was in motion when the light came on.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that there was a abnormal odor of fuel detected in and out of vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to gary crossley Ford 8050 n church rd, kansas city, mo 64158 (816) 781-4844 where diagnosed that the damper was leaking however was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted who provided case number cas -25200727-39d025 but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 111,000. Ap.
The engine stopped while in motion (on multiple occasions), usually when coming to a stop or turning. I lost steering control as well. The error "low engine oil pressure" appeared on panel. After putting car in park and attempting to restart the car, it usually would restart right away. On one occasion, it took 2 attempts to start it. Fortunately, there weren't any cars directly behind me or it would've likely caused an accident. A mechanic cleaned the throttle body, replaced a plug, and replaced a misfiring cylinder. The issue has not happened again in the 2 days since then.
This car is horrible. Multiple safety issues! first, my axle needs to be redone. Clicking and popping with all turns. Secondly, the electronics are haywire, with the ac blowing hot on one side and cold on the other and not starting with brand new batteries. Third, the brake system. . . Had the booster go out. Ford replaced and upon the drive back, it failed even worse locking my engine, smoke fromthe brakes being locked up. I had to tow back on my expense and rent a car for days. The replaced the booster, but I still have even worsening brake issues. Ford told me I need a new abs and master cylinder. It only did this after the 2 failed boosters. . . Now if I hit a bump or gravel while pressing the brakes, my brakes go out! I mean they fail! luckily I haven't hit anyone yet. It's off and on but happens with no warning. The pedal goes all the way to the floor and there's the constant sound of hissing and air. I have contacted Ford multiple times which is horrible and taken to the dealership where I leave with no problems until the next unexpected blow out on the brakes. All you have to do is google this model and there are tons and tons of reports of complaints for the same issue. Ford should stand by their products and fix to avoid injuries, death and lawsuits. I had no issues with my car until other than the initial brake booster failure, until my car was left with smoke all under my car from the second brake booster. I got one thing fixed only to have major problems after. How is that fair? obviously Ford didn't fix correctly and/or gave me bad equipment which burned my system up. Now I need to pay for my abs to be fixed? shame on Ford! very dangerous. Will never buy Ford again. At least the foreign cars stand by their products. Buyers beware the Edge is tainted.
Throttle body malfunction. Driving at 45mph car suddenly slows to 2 mph. Shut off car start again, same thing happens. Wrench light comes on. Ford has extended warranty coverage on earlier Ford Edge models but does not on the 2013 Edge. This is the identical problem and repair ( Ford service diagnosed) at a cost of $600. 00. Very dangerous problem to occur suddenly slowing to a crawl in fast moving traffic. Should have been a recall.
My car will all of a sudden stop excels rating at high speeds. The rpms increase as the speeds decreases. The Ford dealerships can not figure it out as it has to be doing it. It can happen 30 minutes into driving and then maybe 1. 5 hours is, there is no consistency. It has happens for the past year. And now tracing for the past summer it is very anxious driving this car. I am not sure my car was cleared really with all the recalls.
Coming into work, in beginning to turn a corner the steering wheel began to suddenly lock up and had to literally force it to turn corner. In turning that corner the car completely shut down and I drifted into a grass area out of traffic. Thankfully I was in a low mph setting. Now 3 days prior to this the car has been having problems staying in park. Emergency brake has to be put on because the car drifts out of park. 2 weeks prior we have had the O2 sensors replaced as well as the brake cylinders on the car due to having to fully jam down on the brakes in order for the car to stop.
July 21, 2019 driving along on a 35 mph road and car just stopped accelerating when pushing gas pedal. Wrench indicator appeared and had to put car in neutral to safely pull over. Car did restart after shutting off. Same incident happened an hour later going the same speed. We researched and found the numerous other Ford Edge same complaints that the throttle body was in need of replacement. Had it replaced and car is running smooth with no problems. This was a very scary and concerning issue. I can't imagine being on the expressway like others have experienced. Ford make this right and put out a recall.
2013 Ford Edge limited 45k miles tampa FL - car will randomly go into limp mode without warning at any time, all lights on dash come on along with the wrench. This has happened on three different occasions, two on a busy 4 lane city street above 40 mph and the last was while merging onto the interstate above 50 mph. This is a very dangerous defect that will eventually result in an accident. Once in limp mode I will have to pull over, stop and restart the car at which point the car drives normal. Dealer can't replicate the fault, so they can't do anything. I have an extended warranty through 75k miles but can't use that either as the Ford dealer can't replicate the problem. Through research I found the same symptoms on other Fords where the throttle body was an issue including my year Edge. Ford did a recall on a bunch but my year and model were not included. Clearly Ford needs to expand their recall as this is extremely unsafe.
The engine light comes on intermittently with an evap. Leak code. We've checked all of the possible issues and can not find the problem.
Since July of 2019 until I had it repaired end of January 2020. My car would shut off(the engine) completely go into limp mode-five times in the past six months thank god the drivers behind me were alert enough to notice my car go into limp mode-I could've been killed-literally it was 55 miles per hour I would go or sometimes 25 mph-I took it to different Ford dealers and it was stated wait til a light goes on so they could make a diagnosis or copy a code-well soon as I started the engine it would be drivable til boom it would shut off again in couple of weeks with no warning. Finally, I did some research about the throttle body and guess what told a dealer to replace it and hasn't shut off since. Thank god I did my own research-states there are currently recalls but guess what enough people haven't complained about the 2013 Edge for it to be on the recall list-its an easy fix-and my sons could have lost a mother-husband could've lost a wife and elderly parents loose there primary caregiver all because of a part which is an easy fix. I beg you please add the 2013 Ford Edge on recall not because of the money-but because I got no help from mechanics from three Ford dealer-I was told wait til a diagnostic light comes on-well guess what the last Ford dealer I went to which was 100 miles round trip told me with this part a diagnostic light does not come on-had I not done my research and taken it to right Ford dealer I could've been killed-dont let this happen to someone who doesn't have time to do the research-alert them with a recall-and please let me know if you do put it on recall--I would appreciate a refund-for my time and trouble. And for putting my life in danger-you can't put a price on that!!!!!!!!!!.
When I press my brakes my car will not stop I have put brakes on in the past 6 months so I know my brakes are good. Also while I am driving it just turns off in the middle of a turn. Also when I get gas it will never start right up it always takes me 3 or 4 times for the car to start.
On 6 occasions now my 2013 Ford Edge while driving has thrown up a check engine sign and the car will just pretty much die while in heavy traffic to the point that I am barely moving. Then second time it happened I took it to Ford they said it was the battery so I bought a new battery and still since then it continues to do it all of these way before my warranty was up but Ford could never find anything wrong with it on the other occurrences. On 8/18/2018 the car threw up a wrench sign again while driving and the car pretty much shut down I barely made it off the side of the road before being hit by another car. All occurrences have been on the interstate had it not been for luck I don't know how I kept from being hit due to the car pretty much would only roll because pressing on the gas did not good. Once to safety and pulled over to restart the car it would start and be okay then several weeks sometimes months it would do it again. Last occurrence was 8. 18/2019.
2013 Ford Edge went into limp home mode. The accelerator pedal did not work. The car idled roughly and had normal a/c, brakes and steering. The car was going 55 mph on a crowded roadway.
While driving down road (highway) car goes into a limp mode and will trust start slowing down and eventually comes to a slow crawl less than 5 mpg.
The speed of my car was limited to no more than 15 mph. Luckily this happended in a parking lot and not on the freeway. The car was towed to a Ford dealer and the problem was diagnosed as a faulty electronic throttle body (etb). This component was recalled in customer satisfaction program 16b23. However, it was only issued for 2011-2012 model year Edge and mkx vehicles equipped with 3. 5l or 3. 7l engines. Given the severity of this issue, it seems that the recall should be looked at for the 2013 Ford Edge as well.
While driving down the road the vehicle will exhibit a full loss of power. After pulling to the side of the road and turning the vehicle off and trying to restart it will experience a long and hard start. The vehicle will do this weather you are driving 5mph or 70 mph. This is very dangerous and has almost caused me to be in several accidents with my 3 children in the car.
Unexpected loss of power and wrench and parking shift messages shown on my SUV display. On 03312018 my Ford Edge sport awd 2013 surprised me when an unexpected loss of power happen during an slow motion in a secondary road. Unable to manage my vehicle I stop at the nearest gas station using the slope backwards in neutro shift until reach the gas station behind me. Then when stop I began to read vehicle book and shut down the vehicle as recommended. After 30 mins I restart the vehicle and the loss power disappear reason why I decide to return back to my home. When I enter to the consumer report page from my pc at home to request info for any recall for this vehicle I find out that a recall number exist for this type of SUV. The recall number is 14s10 since august2014 but I never has been advised. Few month ago I went to the dealer for a review of a problem but they did nothing and said that the vehicle was in perfect condition avoiding their responsibility to tell me about any recall for this problem. I still experimenting the same situation since 03312018, risking my life and the life of other people in the road as my SUV continues without losing power but taken the pertinent precaution. I still very worry as the consumer report stated that in addition this failure may cause the vehicle to roll away if the parking brake is not applied despite the transmission being placed in park.
I was driving my 2013 Ford Edge in town 30 mph on a four lane road when the engine just died. I am lucky I was not on a busy highway could have end badly. Ford knows of this problem but will not have a recall.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While the vehicle was stationary, the throttle body malfunctioned. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal slightly and the vehicle rapidly lunged forward independently. Due to the failure, the contact struck the dashboard and was injured. Medical attention was not received. Hub city Ford in lafayette, louisiana was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Stepping on the gas will not ship to higher gear - seems stuck in 1 or second gear is this a shaft linkage issue? - I see a recall.
Clicking but not starting.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While driving various speeds, the vehicle decelerated independently and the rpms decreased. The contact mentioned that the vehicle needed to be restarted every time for the vehicle to function correctly. The failure recurred multiple times. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.
On several occasions vehicle fails to start. When attempting to start engine it will turn over but not fire. Turning switch off then attempting to start engine again usually results in the engine starting. When this happens it does not matter if the engine is hot or cold, brand of gas used or length of time or miles driven. This has occurred several times over the last 6 months. Vehicle has been taken to dealership service department twice. They have been unable to duplicate the problem.
Travelling at 70 mph on freeway, yellow wrench shows and vehicle slows down to 2-5 mph very quickly. Unable to accelerate or steer. This is a very dangerous situation Ford needs to rectify. Taken to dealership and no error codes or recurring problem at dealership. This is also a problem as how do you have a massive deceleration and warning lights without an error code registering.
I was driving on the highway with cruise set a 70 mph. I felt the car jerk and looked down to see the orange wrench in the control panel. The vehicle immediately lost power and acceleration. I was able to move to the shoulder/coasting to get off a very large bridge. During this process I attempted to put the vehicle in neutral and try to restart it and it would not. Once I got the vehicle to the shoulder, I placed it in park and turned it completely off. After a minute or two I attempted to restart the vehicle. It started fine and ran fine the rest of the way to my exit. . . Which was about 37 miles. (I did not use the cruise again) I immediately took it to o'reillys for them to check the code and there was not anything active or inactive. The also checked my battery, alternator and starter and found those to be in perfect condition. I've only owned the car 30 days so I will be contacting the dealership.
Had the car for a year and never a problem until now. My 2013 Ford Edge has 43,000 on it. My car will not start (battery is good). Sometimes will click but not start. Sometimes it struggles to start. Sometimes it starts, rattles and then shuts off by itself. I have read horror stories of this particular year of the Ford Edge. People losing power of car on major highways, cutting off unexpectedly!!! I'm terrified to drive my car. I have 4 kids who often are in my car with me especially now that it's summer time. After reading countless complaints about similar problems and worst, it's time for Ford to recall all these cars and figure out the problem before someone gets killed and they have major lawsuit since problems have been documented time and time again. I loved my car until I read all the problems and complaints. I want to get rid of it now but owe too much still on it. So fix the problem Ford!!!!! now. . . . .
