The ptu is leaking it’s a known defect a known problem but they say my VIN number doesn’t even qualify for customer satisfaction program?? I don’t understand it’s almost 7 years old but only 77k est miles on it. It is not as if I have drove this thing to the ground. I would like my VIN number added or this problem added to a recall or something that would waist loyal customers for this issue.

It has not been inspected by police or insurance. We have been told not to drive the car due to chance of it catching fire or ruining the engine if coolant runs out.

Flex plate is broken in several places. This cannot happen on a normal wear part, cars with well over 250k miles do not have flex plate/ flywheel issues.
The power transfer unit cracked. It will cost $2200 plus the cost of the tow truck and a rental car for 7 days. We got very lucky that my son was driving at a low speed and was able to stop. This failure could’ve caused a major accident and resulted in his death had it happened just a few minutes earlier.

I am submitting this complaint due to concerns that others might start having the same issues that I am experiencing. My Ford Edge 2016 with just a little over 58,000 miles has a timing cover oil seal (mtcs), a transfer case input shaft seal (ftci), and the axle seal (fras) leaking. This is very sad that a vehicle with this few of miles has all these issues already. I am sure my Edge is not the only one having these issues. This vehicle does even leave hardball roads nor does it drove hard. I can't image what it would be like if I was rough on my vehicles. Jason.
Broken flywheel. 5 year/60,000 miles warranty ended by date 4 months prior to diagnosis. Car currently has 57,000 miles. Took to dealer for engine rattle diagnostics exam. Was told it was the flywheel. Ford technician stated it’s a common mechanical problem for this kind of vehicle. Ford is refusing to cover the repair. No prior warnings or messages presented to driver before or while engine rattle occurred. Was told to trade in the car as the flywheel can damage the engine thus totaling the vehicle.
In novermber 2019 heard ratteling noise for engine took to dealer . They found a crack flex plate. They replaced the short block and transmission pump per the service bulletin this was at 56,000 miles. Now at 86. 000 same noise came back. To back to dealer same problem crack flex plate. The dealer and Ford have both refused to cover this repair because it is now out of warrant. This is clearly a defective part that Ford should have fixed and recall all cars with this engine. Case#cas-34043931.
Engine failure at less than 35,000 miles. Loosing coolant into cyclinder#2 misfire. Known issue by Ford, yet no recall or recourse for owners out of warranty.
Flexplate and torque converter caused the car to shake and lose power. It was confirmed by Ford dealership and repairs through Ford dealership. There were no warning lights, just a rattling sound from motor. The flexplate was replaced once already before this incident when the car was under warranty at 60,000 miles. It was replaced again this time at 98,000 miles.

On June 30, 2021 I and my husband just arrived home. My husband had been hospitalized 10 days and was still very weak. I was bringing him home and once I was in the driveway I put the car in park and got out and went to him on the passenger side to help him out. I took him inside and got him settled. When I returned outside to retrieve items from the vehicle, I reached in on the driver side to push the start button to turn off the engine. Immediately the vehicle started rolling and I was knocked down by the door and drug 20-30 feet . The front driver tire ran over my hand and continued to roll into the yard of the house across the street. The neighbor called for an ambulance and I was taken to the hospital. I was treated for road rash and released. I was thankful to be alive under the circumstances but was still concerned for my husband and had no idea why the car rolled. As far as my safety I feel that this could have killed me and or possibly the small child that lives next door had he been out on his tricycle as he often is outside playing. I have not had the vehicle inspected because I thought maybe I had somehow done something to cause it to roll but I know I did not. I am assuming that this recall # 22s43 is likely the reason. I was made aware of this issue with certain years and models by a family member. I did not get any type of warning . I am enclosing pictues where I was injured. Prior to the accident, I had full use of my hands but I still have limited use with my right hand as the two middle fingers are often inflamed and a surgeon later confirmed they had been broken but I was not told at the time of the accident. Possibly because they were so swollen. My hand hurts all of the time and a hand surgeon said he would have to rebreak the fingers to repair the damage.
Car sounded rough when I started it after work with vibration noise that got louder as I drove and louder still when it was idling at lights. Drove straight to the dealership - it's a cracked flex plate. Upon research this seems to be a common problem with Ford Edge. Waiting to see what is covered under extended warranty. 66000 miles.

There are times when I press on the gas and the engine bogs down and the engine starts running very ruff. I can only do about 2 miles per hour, which is very dangerous as I am in traffic on city streets and on the highway, when this happens. The only thing that fixes it is to pull over, shut the car down, and then restart. This has happened 5 times since I bought the car in December of 2019 and it is only January of 2021.
I purchased a new Ford Edge directly from dealership in 2016. I have maintained the vehicle extremely well. Around 95,000 my check engine light came on for a few days then went off for a week or so. When it came back on again, around 98,000 I called to make an appointment. They couldn't get me in for about a week. When I took the vehicle in it had 101,000. They told me I have a cylinder head coolant intrusion because of a small crack. They recommend a long block engine repair for $8000. They said this is a known problem with the Ford ecoboost engines. I see there's 100's of complaints online for the same issue. Contacted Ford and they said there's nothing they can do to help. A car that's 3 1/2 years old should not need a new engine. This is a known Ford engine defect that they are not standing behind.
While traveling on highway, vehicle began to make humming sound from rear. After about 1 minute of these sounds, the orange wrench light appeared and the vehicle began to sputter. Vehicle continued sputtering at each stop light, running rough until I was able to reach my destination and turn vehicle off.

When driving my 2016 Ford Edge on the street or on the highway the car hesitates 2 take off I have to press on the gas really hard before it starts to take off it shakes really bad and when you first start the car it's shaking and jerking when you put the car in drive it hesitates to move with this heart jerking motion and shaking then idles down and then the car will move but it still takes some force on the gas pedal for the car to move also I noticed a burning smell like oil or something and a very thick white smoke clouding out of the exhaust pipes this problem started 3 weeks ago as of today August 28th my Ford Edge will not turn over I've tried replacing the alternator the spark plugs ignition switch it will not turn over the car has been sitting in my driveway since last Friday the check engine light a picture of a ranch and and a picture of a triangle with a caution sign in the middle has came on and then the car will no longer start.
Coolant leak into the engine due to a known design defect as documented in TSB-22-2229. Ford purposely stalls diagnosis until the engine is out of warranty and then sticks the customer with the cost of replacement.

Transmission shifter cable bushing disintegrated and cable snapped off a few times!! this is the same issue affecting the recalled 2014 Ford fusion. They are using the same bushing for the Ford Edge per the parts department where I bought the replacement. The parts rep said they are selling the bushing for Ford Edges all the time. :(.
While driving on expressway at 70 mph. In traffic engine lost power car started slowing down and would not speed back up. The wrench and the hill assist not available icons were on. Turned on flashers and people behind me gave me room to change lanes and pull to the shoulder. Engine was still running roughly. Hit engine stop button, waited a few seconds tried to restart. It cranked and finally restarted. Was able to make it home with no problems. Made an appointment with Ford dealer and they acted like it was no big deal.
