1 Engine Engine Control Module (ecu/ecm) problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2021

2017 Ford Edge - we were driving along at approximately 50 mph when all of a sudden the vehicle lost power and it slowed down very fast. The car in back of us almost hit us! we limped along until we could shut the car off. It cleared up temporarily but happened twice on way to local mechanic. His engine analyzer did not show anything and the car ran fine for a couple of weeks so I thought maybe there had been some bad gasoline. Then it happened again several times. It was this second series of incidents when we almost had a crash. In driving 10 miles to return to the local mechanic it decelerated 5 times and stalled each time. Now both the check engine light and the wrench warning lights come on. The mechanic's engine analyzer now shows the throttle body is defective. Since he does not have the part in stock we are still waiting to have it repaired. A Ford service dealer has not yet looked at the car. I may now take it to a Ford dealer but getting there is risky.
