Equipment problem #4

To whom it may concern, I am writing to formally report an ongoing and concerning issue with my 2022 Ford Edge. My vehicle has begun hesitating when pressing the accelerator and jerking between 20 mph and 40 mph. Some days the issue is worse than others, but it has progressively made the vehicle feel unreliable and unsafe to drive. At times, it feels as though the vehicle may break down while in motion. After researching this issue, I have found that many other Ford Edge owners are experiencing the same symptoms, with the torque converter frequently identified as the cause. This appears to be a widespread and recurring problem rather than an isolated incident. Additionally, the vehicle will coast between approximately 2,000 and 5,000$. This behavior is not normal and raises serious concerns regarding drivability, safety, and long-term damage to the transmission. Given how common this issue appears to be among Ford Edge vehicles, I strongly believe this warrants further investigation and the establishment of a recall. Owners should not be financially responsible for a known and recurring manufacturing defect. I am requesting that Ford address this issue promptly and take responsibility for repairs associated with this problem. I appreciate your time and look forward to a resolution. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

There was absolutely no reason it should have gone off this is about the 4th time it has randomly done this now and it’s a bit concerning.

Equipment problem #8

I wanted to report that on this vehicle Ford has a very unsafe and hazardous horn. I just purchased the car and had to use the horn for the first time yesterday to avoid a car hitting me. I avoided an accident but the other driver said they did not hear my horn. The horn sound is not loud at all and I thought it was defective. I had others listen to it and they all were amazed at how ineffective the volume was. I did some research on line and found I am not the only one that complained about this to Ford. Apparently Ford changed the horn assembly in sometime after 2017 on the Ford Edge to save money. Apparently there is no federal standard for horn decibel levels on automobiles. I travel with small grandchildren in this car and feel this makes it unsafe, as many, many others do after researching this. It is a disaster just waiting to happen. Can you confirm that there are no regulations for automobile horns other than that they work? I just wanted to bring this up as it is dangerous to drove a vehicle like this. Interested in knowing if you have received any other complaints. Most of the research I have done shows owners actually having the horn assembly removed and replaced with one that actually works correctly at their own expense. Seems Ford should be held accountable for this defect. Seems the opted for profit over safety here. Thanks.

Equipment problem #9

The display tablet will randomly stop working and just display a white screen and doesnt work for a few minutes. This started happening after the update Ford recently did to fix the back up camera issue.

Equipment problem #11

While driving around a curve the tire locked up and I was unable to turn and we ended up in the ditch. There was no collision. Myself and my child could have been seriously injured in this accident. 6 airbags deployed. Apon inspection the fender liner appears to have ripped off the back of the fender well and lodged into the top of the tire and the top front of the wheel well. Pheonix collision had to cut the liner from the car in order to release the tire. The police believed the accident was cause by the wheel well liner as well as pheonix collision. Vehicle was inspected on the scene by the springfield police. Vehicle was also inspected by pheonix collision in springfield illinois. There were no warning lights, messages or other symptoms before the accident. Due to this accident my car has almost $19,000 in damages. The passenger side of the vehicle has a few dents from going in the ditch and the front grill had a few broken pieces. There is no damage to the driver side of the vehicle where the felt liner locked up the tire. I have seen numerous people complain how the liner sags down or tears. I didn't notice the liner hanging down or any damage to the liner prior to the accident.

Equipment problem #17

I'm getting warning lights on the dash that indicated that abs, traction control, cruise control and collision mitigation are inoperable. The dealership service dept. Had the vehicle for over 2 weeks trying to diagnose the problem in conjunction with Ford engineers. They finally determined the the issue was a bad abs module. They then informed me that the needed parts were not available and it might take 2weeks, 2months or longer to get. This condition has existed since the day the car was delivered. As of now, the car has about 600 miles on it. We're reluctant to drive the car because we feel the vehicle is unsafe, particularly in winter road conditions. We are at a loss as to how to proceed and are hoping you cab help us resolve this problem. Thank you, dave richards 1958a bender park blvd. , lynden, wa 98264 360-393-6700 jdgmint@gmail. Com.

Equipment problem #18

Unintended hands-free liftgate activation: when standing next to or loading items into the rear cargo area the lift gate will begin to close on its own. On two occassions I have been hit on the head and also on my shoulder. No injuries were incurred. This is a random occurance. The issue has been reported to the Ford delership, mcdonald Ford in freeland mi, on several occasions. The most recent being April 13, 2023. The service advisor presented me with a Ford bulletin, ssm 51360, which states "this is a normal condition and repairs are not necessary. " I feel that this is a safety issue, especially for seniors who may not be able to react as quickly as I did in order to avoid injury.

Equipment problem #19

Liftgate foot sensor automatically closes when loading goods into rear compartment . Comes down without warning and hits your head or back.

Equipment problem #20

The yakima roof rack system (base clips, towers and bars) were attached to the roof of my husband's new 2022 Ford Edge. Our thule hullavators and 2 eddyline kayaks were also on the roof rack. It was all secure and properly installed. After 90 min heading north on i75 the front passenger clip failed sending the entire roof rack flying. We pulled over immediately and one kayak landed, still attached to the bars, in the left 2 lanes of the highway while the 2nd kayak landed in the middle of the highway, close to the right 2 lanes. We ran out into the freeway to get the kayak out of the road and are very lucky that no one hit it, was hit by it or hit us in the process! one of our kayaks is a complete loss, the roof rack system, including the thule hullavators are also a total loss and there is damage to the roof of the car as well. We are working with state farm to repair the car there was zero warning this would or could happen though afterwards we have been able to find complaints on the better business bureau regarding this exact thing happening to other people! needless to say we are very upset and saddened by the loss of our property. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated as clearly there are others who have been harmed in this way by yakima's product. More pictures are available if needed.

Equipment problem #21

The hands-free power lift gate was inadvertently activated while I was placing items into the back of the vehicle, and hit me in the back, and the back of my head. This happened three times. The dealer told me that Ford relocated the foot sensor farther towards the back of the vehicle following consumer complaints that it was too hard to active with your foot, as you had to extend your foot too far under the vehicle. This has now caused the lift gate to descend while you are loading/unloading cargo, without you intentionally activating it. This can pose an injury danger when the lift gate hits your back and/or head suddenly. The dealer deactivate the sensor for me, but Ford would not pay to have this done. The dealer did not charge me, and considered it a courtesy. This is an engineering fault that should be corrected by Ford before unsuspecting users are injured when the lift gate suddenly, and unexpectedly, closed down on them. I found Ford's attitude towards the dealer was arrogant. Apparently they are unconcerned about user injury.
