Equipment Problems of Ford Edge - part 2

Two NHTSA notifications received in September 2025 and have yet to be contacted by fmc regarding repairs. Have concerns with brake line recall and at current time have completely blurred camera, and unable to view rear camera while backing up. Contact local dealer regarding repairs but they are unable to make repairs until fmc notifications. How long does fmc have to make repairs once notified by NHTSA?.

When in reverse, the backup camera in my vehicle no longer functions. The view is displayed upside down which is very disorienting or the screen rapidly flashes.

2018 Ford Edge with 2. 0 ecoboost engine over heating leaking coolant into cylinders caused engine failure. Lucky this did not catch fire. Ford knows the issue and will not put out a recall. Very dangerous and disgusting business practice.

Water pump replacement needs to be done on my Ford Edge. Driving down the highway my Ford Edge started over heating out of no where. When I pulled over check everything out. Discovered I was leaking antifreeze, and the leak was coming from the water pump area. Now my car is sitting due to can’t find a shop to replace it for a decent price . Was told this was common issue with my car and there’s big lawsuit over it due to not being a recall issue.

Dash is saying rearview camera is unavailable please contact the dealership.

-my 2019 Ford Edge transmission went out it won’t shift at all and when it does it is shifting harsh the car has been not drivable for 2 month and I only got it in Jan 2025. Yes this vehicle can be inspected upon request. -there were no warnings at all it just started not shifting when I went to back up and after giving it gas it shifted hard had to drive it around the parking lot trying to figure out what was wrong until a warning light came on I could of taken it to work and it could of went out on me on the freeway and it could of caused and accident -I sent it up to kirk’s auto in livonia mi and they quoted me $6,800 and that’s with out a warranty package on the new transmission -I also tried to get my transmission rebuilt so I sent it to westland transmission in westland mi and was told there is no way to rebuild that type of transmission and it would be $7,200 to drop a new one in -no the vehicle was never inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives - I am highly upset Ford I still have a note on the car because I just bought it and now I have to try to come up with $7,200 to fix the car with.

In April of 2025 I got my normal oil change and I mentioned to the technician that the car seems to be jerking more than usual when I start trying to accelerate. They mentioned that the car needed the coolant flushed out and that could be contributing to the issue. I had it done in June. It was not causing the issue but the jerking got worse. So this month, August 2025, I took the care to aamco transmissions and total car care. They did a full systems and diagnostic courtesy check and determined that I need my transmission replaced or rebuilt which is at least $7k. This is a 2021 Ford Edge. I am the only owner. I have 71k miles on the car and never thought that I would have to fully replace a transmission in 4 years.

On [xxx], while driving from delaware to massachusetts in her 2024 Ford Edge (purchased new in April 2024, now with roughly 19,800 miles on the odometer) on [xxx] in new jersey, my wife experienced the cloth-panel shade of the "panoramic vista roof" fall onto her. Obviously, this was a complete surprise and very dangerous to her in the control of the vehicle. She stated that about a week prior to the collapse of the shade, there had been some rattling coming from an undetermined area in the car. The massachusetts Ford dealer (balise Ford - wilbraham, MA) she brought the vehicle to stated the sunroof falling in was "not the result of a material defect. " the dealership replaced the roof opening panel at a cost to us of $1120. 00. The defective part was not obtained from the dealer after repair. I was doing 65 and had to gun it to get out of someone's way and when I did it just didn't go. There was a long pause then it kicked in just in time.

Car shudders and lurches upon acceleration and while utilizing gas pedal. Continues throughout the drive. Front center camera alerts to a crash when not even close to one. Sync system goes black on the screen, especially upon starting the ignition and when car is in reverse.

2019 Ford Edge 40000 miles and has shuttering and jerky shifting below 30mph. Dealer says torque converter is bad also auto start stop not working. Car is well taken care of and garaged. This seems to be common issues with this model and year vehicle should be a recall.

Reverse camera goes black with movement in the picture. Can not see to back up for a week or two at a time then it works for a week. Asked Ford dealership about an update for software and they require $175 to diagnose the camera then pay to have he said possibly a new camera installed. It does not alert to people or objects behind vehicle during the time the camera goes out.

Hvac dual climate control won’t blow hot on passenger side when heat is on.

I was driving to work on a busy street, started accelerating and the car completely shut down on me. I had to come to a complete stop on the main road during morning rush hour. Was close enough to idle into a parking lot. All my dashboard lights started flashing with an "engine coolant over temperature" alert. No throttle response. Had to have the vehicle towed to the Ford dealership where they determine that the coolant was leaking into the engine. Replaced the egr cooler ($2300). Drove off the lot and the vehicle was shuttering upon acceleration. A( a known issue with the Ford 2. 0 ecoboost engines but yet there is no recall) after diagnosing, Ford came back and said I need to replace the torque convertor ($3100). This is a 2019 vehicle with 84,277 miles on it. These issues should not be happening. Ford has done nothing but issue TSB's on them.

Bad catalyst converter. Needs to be replaced. Vehicle is not even 10 years old.

Bucking/shuddering transmission issues with 8f35 transmission. Vehicle shudders under 40mph. This is a software issue from Ford and should be a recall and not a TSB (TSB 21-2389), since this is an issue that will eventually lead to transmission failure due to no fault of the owner. Ford needs to be held accountable for their own faulty parts, rather than charging for a software upgrade that is not guaranteed to correct the issue.

The rear back up camera image is inverted. I see that the 2015-2018s were recalled but this is also happening with the 2013s.

I got into my parked car, turned it on put it in drive and it barely went. I looked down at the dash and it had a wrench lit up on it. I pulled over and looked up what codes it gave me on my app. There were no warning signs before this event.

Completed a transmission change, new battery, oil change, and spark plug change and the car is still jerking when changing gears and touch screen keeps turning off.

Front crash assistance unavailable. Camera not working. No auto dimming available either.

I brought in my vehicle for regular service (I. E. , oil change) on June 2nd and all was well though I did get my rear brakes done. By June 19th, my check engine light came in and when I brought in my vehicle later that same morning, I was informed coolant had leaked into the engine, now requiring an entire engine replacement which I was told would cost 8500. I have since learned this is a fairly common issue is this model Ford Edge with eco boost engines and am appalled Ford has not issued a recall for this defect.

Recall rattling, car won't start.

The car's back up camera fails (no picture, only snow) when below 40 degrees or above 90 degrees. This has been occurring for years. There is a recall for 2021 Ford Edges for back up camera failures - it should be extended to 2019 or earlier.

The backup camera stopped working consistently in June 2025. Safety recall has been issued for 2015 vehicles and newer, but not for 2013 and 2014 years. Ford dealer said the camera needs to be replaced for $740, but numerous online comments show other Ford owners with the same issue starting at the same time. I believe this is a software issue, and would like 2013 Ford Edge to be added to safety recall.

While driving around a curve the tire locked up and I was unable to turn and we ended up in the ditch. There was no collision. Myself and my child could have been seriously injured in this accident. 6 airbags deployed. Apon inspection the fender liner appears to have ripped off the back of the fender well and lodged into the top of the tire and the top front of the wheel well. Pheonix collision had to cut the liner from the car in order to release the tire. The police believed the accident was cause by the wheel well liner as well as pheonix collision. Vehicle was inspected on the scene by the springfield police. Vehicle was also inspected by pheonix collision in springfield illinois. There were no warning lights, messages or other symptoms before the accident. Due to this accident my car has almost $19,000 in damages. The passenger side of the vehicle has a few dents from going in the ditch and the front grill had a few broken pieces. There is no damage to the driver side of the vehicle where the felt liner locked up the tire. I have seen numerous people complain how the liner sags down or tears. I didn't notice the liner hanging down or any damage to the liner prior to the accident.

My Ford Edge only has a little over 37,000 miles on it, it’s an 2020 model. Electronic throttle body went out. The car lost all power, when trying to mash the gas peddle , the power was decreasing, the engine was missing and running extremely ruff. I barely was able to get off to the side of the interstate safely. The brakes went out , my car issued 7 different power failures involving powertrain, restraints, anti-lock system , hill start, pre-collision , 2 repeated the same warning. These warnings only came on after the car lost power, not before. I had to have it towed. Since I have aaa, I had them tow it to their repair shop since it was only a few miles from where I was stranded. They replaced the throttle assembly. I tried to find out if there was a recall , no recall, but there has been class action suits against Ford for this same reason.

The rear differential is failing. It has been looked at by an independent mechanic. The car has 85,000 miles on it. I understand certain VIN numbers were recalled for this issue.

Overheating && electrical !!!! it’s been over heating since I got the dealership fixed it free of charge I’m still having the same problem I looked it up there are 3 recalls that’s I’m having the exact same problems with.

Back up camera keeps going crazy. Blinks in and out and breaks up when backing up in driveway or parking.

While driving I came upon a red light. While sitting at the red light I noticed my car began to loose power and started shaking. My rpm dropped to almost 0. My car was loosing power while driving. No light has appeared on my dashboard, my gas tank said I had 98 miles till empty. I had two young kids in my vehicle. I anxiously started tapping the gas a little and made in into the nearest parking lot. This is unacceptable as I was in the middle of the road with children. I sat in my car with it on idle and nothing happened.

The sun roof failed to close when it was wide open. I manually pushed it close most of the way, but could not get it to completely close. A google search has shown that other Ford Edges have had this problem. I have garbage bags taped around the opening to help prevent water getting in, but water still has gotten in which can cause damage.

Transmission: 2 quarts low; shuddering; I get my car serviced very regularly at riverside Ford macon GA; car began to shudder; had transmission fluid checked, 2 quarts low; looked up online and discovered issues with 2020 Ford Edge transmission problems.

The Ford dealership has had my vehicle since may 5, 2025 and since then, has been unable to fix safety recall 25s28 (apim module reprogramming due to distorted screen). On June 30, 3025, the dealership informed me that Ford has put a stop hold on the recall, with no estimate as to when or whether my vehicle will ever be repaired. On June 19, 2025, I filed a complaint with Ford corporate customer service hotline, to no avail. I have heard nothing back from the corporate Ford customer service team. Truly alarming and frustrating.
