Rear backup camera constantly displays an inverted (upside-down) image and the picture quality becomes unclear/blurry. This makes it difficult to judge distance and orientation when reversing and creates a safety risk when backing up.

My backup camera began malfunctioning in November 2025. Initially, the image became distorted, and shortly after, the screen went completely blank with a message instructing me to contact the dealership. I did so and was informed that my vehicle was not included in the recall and that I would be responsible for the repair costs out of pocket. I referenced the 15-year rearview camera extended warranty that applies to non-recalled vehicles. The dealership stated they were unaware of this warranty. As a result, I contacted Ford directly and opened a case with the automotive safety office in November 2025. Today, I followed up with Ford to check on the status of my case and was told there has been no update. I was also informed that because there is no csp number associated with the 15-year extended warranty for Edge models that are not actively recalled, Ford cannot take any action. I was essentially told that the warranty “does not exist,” despite the fact that it has been widely reported by major news outlets and automotive publications. I was further told that if my vehicle were currently at a dealership, they might be able to help, but since it is not, they cannot do anything. Ford also stated that while the issue could potentially be recalled in the future, there is no action they are willing to take at this time. This is a known Ford defect, and despite extensive documentation and public acknowledgment of the issue, Ford is refusing to repair it.

I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2019 Ford Edge, which now requires a full transmission replacement despite having fewer than 90,000 miles. A major transmission failure at this mileage is highly abnormal for a vehicle of this age and maintenance history. Prior to the failure, I experienced shuddering and irregular shifting, yet the vehicle’s warning lamps did not consistently illuminate to indicate that there was a problem. The lack of warning indicators prevented early detection and contributed to the severity of the issue. I received a repair estimate from don seelye Ford in kalamazoo, mi, totaling $11,534. 07 for the transmission replacement and related service. This cost is excessive and entirely unexpected for a vehicle with under 90,000 miles, and it places a significant financial burden on me as the owner. Given the premature nature of this failure, the safety concerns it created, and the extremely high repair cost, I am requesting a full review of this matter and consideration for assistance or coverage.
I am a second time owner of Ford cars, it's really concerning to me that for one, they have the reputation of their transmissions being faulty, lastly that this being my second vehicle that I have purchased from them that's having transmission issues. Transmission issues that are identical to each other. The transmission keeps slipping and I've only owned the car going on two years. There should be no reason that I would have to replace it so soon. Just like it was in my 2005 Ford taurus. This is an issue that needs immediate attention and it's a rip off because coming up with 9 thousand dollars to spend to repair something that you can just get a new car with that as a deposit. I am very frustrated with Ford and it really needs to be looked at. From looking at it, many people have had this issue with this particular car and need you to please act on this. Ford can not continue to make faulty transmission in their cars and expect people to pay these high prices for repair. Please look into this and help us the consumer and spending our hard earned money on faulty producrts.

Was told by mechanic that my engine has a coolant leak and has caused engine failure. The car has been jerking whenever I accelerate. The remote start does not function from my key fob and I have been unable to pair the Ford pass app with that. The usb ports for android auto also don't seem to work. If I drive over a small bump on the road, it disconnects my phone from android auto. I then have to unplug the cable then replug back into my phone or the usb port to hopefully get it to work again.

Sunroof spontaneously shattered.
At around 82,000 miles my 2020 egde started started having acceleration issues from 0-40, this was right after my warranty expired. I have kept up with all maintenance since bought new in 2020. No warning lights show on dashboard and took to 3 mechanics, which during diagnostic testing showed only a mis-fire and then was told the torque converter needs replaced which is a few thousand dollars.

Transmission causing jerking, shuddering and take off issues. It was diagnosed as the torque converter messed up in the transmission. My safety is at risk of being reared in as the car hesitates to go in gear and to shift properly.
Component or system that failed or malfunctioned, and availability for inspection the torque converter and transmission system in my 2020 Ford Edge have malfunctioned. The vehicle experiences transmission shuddering/stuttering during normal driving, particularly during low-speed acceleration and gear changes. The vehicle remains in my possession and is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk the transmission stuttering causes hesitation, jerking, and unpredictable power delivery while driving. This creates a safety risk, especially when accelerating from a stop, merging into traffic, or driving at low speeds in congested areas. The lack of smooth and reliable acceleration increases the risk of rear-end collisions or loss of control, putting both myself and other drivers at risk. Confirmation or reproduction of the problem the issue has been consistently reproducible during normal operation of the vehicle. The symptoms have been observed repeatedly and were confirmed by a dealer/independent service center, which identified the torque converter and transmission as the source of the problem and advised that significant repairs or replacement would be required. Inspections performed the vehicle has been inspected by a dealership and/or independent repair facility. The manufacturer has not yet directly inspected the vehicle beyond dealer diagnostics, but the vehicle is available for further inspection if requested. Warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to failure there were no immediate warning lamps at the onset of the issue. The primary symptoms were transmission shuddering, stuttering, and rough shifting, which gradually worsened over time. These symptoms first appeared during regular driving and became more frequent and severe, indicating progressive failure of the torque converter and transmission system.
My backup camera continues to not work and says I need to contact the dealership. When I contact the place that I got it from it says it's not covered under their warranty in the contact Ford. When I contact Ford they said there was some rear backup camera thing going on and that the recall had not been issued yet? also I've been having issues with it connecting to any kind of device, it will say connecting phone and load and load and load and never connect or the phone will be connected and say it's not connected so calls and stuff won't come through and when calls you come through it switches to aux and then you can't hear the person who's speaking which I find dangerous because then you have to touch your phone while driving. Another issue that I'm having is when I fill up my tank it is saying for example if I put $40 in and it's the same price it was the day before and I have to fill up my tank I would get different readings so sometimes I might get like 370 in other days I might get like 205 which makes it difficult to really gauge how much gas you have. Have had multiple times where I've had to completely reset the infotainment system because it does not work and you can't push any buttons on it including the buttons that are below that infotainment system that control tuning seeking and temperatures of the car and do you think that there's some electrical problems somewhere that could be causing all of these issues.
I’ve had some serious problems with my back up camera sometimes it blacks out and turns completely black in the middle of me backing up a few times I almost ran into a car and a person backing up and then when it goes blank all of a sudden I couldn’t see. Also sometimes the picture will turn upside down and get distorted. I was going to get it looked at and I spoke with a friend that has a 2013 Ford Edge and said they were having the same problems with their back up camera. So I looked it up online and noticed there’s a recall on all backup cameras on Ford vehicles, it said it started 2015 and up, and it stated that the problems that they were having were the exact same problems that I’m having but when I put my information in, it says there’s no recall on my car so if it’s the specific year, I don’t know, but I’m obviously having the exact same problems with my backup camera and I feel like it’s dangerous and I’m sure I’m not the only vehicle that that’s happened to, especially with them having a recall on their backup cameras. I feel that Ford should recall on the backup cameras for more than just the 2015 and up, my model is a 2014 Ford Edge sport and definitely is having the exact same problems as the other recalls on their back up cameras.

Rear backup camera image went fuzzy, then blank. Can no longer get a camera image when in reverse repeatedly.
My backup camera consistently blurs out with colored lines inconsistently. This has happened since I bought the vehicle over 3 years ago.
This back up camera has been an issue almost immediately after I got the car. Now the picture is upside down and has lines across the screen. I am on disability and I need my camera. That's one of the reasons I bought the car. Please fix this ASAP.

Rear back up camera stopped working after image turned upside down for a few days.
The vehicle was sluggish to reverse as I left my office but after I left it was operating normally to gas station about 3 miles away. I stopped at gas station to fuel up. After, I started car and it would not go back in reverse. When I shifted from park back to reverse, it moved maybe 5". Was sputtering and clanking. I drove forward maybe 2', while sputtering, jerking, and clanking. I managed to make it home (<3 miles) and on shifting it wanted to stall, and on braking it was sputtering, jerking, and clanking with downshifting. At home, when I put it in reverse, I got an error message "gear select will engage at low speeds", and as I tried to reverse, the car went forward almost causing me to crash into my house. After several attempts to back up and begin to go out of my drive, it was sputtering and jerking too much so I decided to try to reverse back to the carport, and it would not move. It sits where it stopped.
Vehicle had a studdering problem, spark plugs replaced, dealership said the spark plugs were masking an “underlying issue with the transmission shudder and torque converter and transmission was at the end of its life”. The unknown of the state of the transmission is the safety concern to me and others. The vehicle has been inspected by ed morse Ford. There was no indication other than shudder on acceleration, until the dealership looked at it. The shudder recently started end of August 2025, and has gradually gotten worse until taking to dealership (October 13 2025).
Rear differential has gone bad and needs replaced due to unsafe to drive.
Has happened on about 3 or 4 occasions that as I am driving it will get a buzzer sounding and red light on dashboard indicating collision is about to happen although there is no other cars or obstacles in the roadway.

Back up camera often gets stuck on and will show what is behind you while driving forward. Or the screen will be blue and not show anything in forward or reverse. It has happened approximately 35 times since purchasing it in March 2025.
Was driving about 30 miles a hour and there were no other cars on the road and there were no obstacles in the road and tbe forward collision warning alert started flashing and dinging on the dashboard. There was absolutely no reason it should have gone off this is about the 4th time it has randomly done this now and it’s a bit concerning.
Rear view camera was distorted and didn’t show a vehicle behind me when I backed out of parking spot and made contact with another vehicle.

I wanted to report that on this vehicle Ford has a very unsafe and hazardous horn. I just purchased the car and had to use the horn for the first time yesterday to avoid a car hitting me. I avoided an accident but the other driver said they did not hear my horn. The horn sound is not loud at all and I thought it was defective. I had others listen to it and they all were amazed at how ineffective the volume was. I did some research on line and found I am not the only one that complained about this to Ford. Apparently Ford changed the horn assembly in sometime after 2017 on the Ford Edge to save money. Apparently there is no federal standard for horn decibel levels on automobiles. I travel with small grandchildren in this car and feel this makes it unsafe, as many, many others do after researching this. It is a disaster just waiting to happen. Can you confirm that there are no regulations for automobile horns other than that they work? I just wanted to bring this up as it is dangerous to drove a vehicle like this. Interested in knowing if you have received any other complaints. Most of the research I have done shows owners actually having the horn assembly removed and replaced with one that actually works correctly at their own expense. Seems Ford should be held accountable for this defect. Seems the opted for profit over safety here. Thanks.
There are two safety recalls for my car. Service brakes and rear camera. The camera stopped working four years ago. I took it to Ford, they said we can replace it for $1500. However, now they don’t have the parts. What kind of scam is Ford and NHTSA doing? the brake line recall was first reported over four years ago, I know this because I received a letter back then. I was told by the chapman Ford, I NJ, that when the parts come in they would contact me. Well that never happened. Again what kind of scam is being run here. I’m 73, I really need this camera repaired, I can’t afford $1500. So when are these parts available. A letter should be sent to all the people with an eta when parts will be available for recalls. VIN [xxx] . Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Transmission shudder at 19,000 with powertrain control module reprogrammed and currently at 40,0000 miles torque converter issue being addressed.
Coolant leaks into engine. Also leaks into spark plugs causing spark plug misfire. Engine block cracked. Only at 66k miles.
My camera has been upside down and or blank or won't show anything half the time and took to the dealer and they said they cant fix it because software issue but Ford has recalled other cars cameras for the same issue. Can't see behind me very well due to camera malfunction almost every time in reverse.
The display tablet will randomly stop working and just display a white screen and doesnt work for a few minutes. This started happening after the update Ford recently did to fix the back up camera issue.
I purchased my 2014 Ford Edge in December 2023. March 2023, I started having issues with the driver side door lock sensor malfunction as shown in the last photo. The door would not automatically lock when I started driving, sensing that the driver’s side door was still open. It was not. I kept pushing the lock button to lock it, but it kept unlocking even while driving. Eventually it would lock. The cost to fix that was around $600 which I could not afford, and my limited warranty expired. July/August 2025 my abs and traction control sensor lights were lit on my dash. I took the car for service and my very reputable mechanic diagnosed with no codes showing up a few times. Performed a reset twice and the lights came back on after only driving a couple of miles. He contacted Ford who advised he couldn't sell the part because there was a "national hold" on the part. On 9/2 my brakes and traction control failed resulting me rear ending another vehicle. The other safety issue is that my airbags did not deploy upon the collision. I contacted Ford corporation and was advised that Ford will not do anything since my vehicle was older than 10 years. The vehicle is a total loss leaving me with a loan balance of approximately $4,700. 00. This is neither fair nor right for a multimillion-dollar company that will not or choose not to address or acknowledge their responsibility regarding these two very serious safety issues. Since I didn’t die or get seriously hurt, I guess it’s not that big a deal to Ford.
Gear change struggles and shudders during 2nd to 4th gear (18-39 mph) when pressing the gas pedal. Driving in sport mode does help but not for long. This problem disappears when cruise control is activated. Went to workshop and had to replace the torque converter. Several owners report similar problems. I bought this car with a mileage of 103,000 miles and it seems to already have some jerking during gear changes but not as bad. It got worse around 120,000 miles. The safety was not of a concern, but the driving dynamics was concerning since the whole vehicle was shaking during gear changes. I checked the NHTSA website and it this vehicle did not have any recalls so far. Another slightly minor but inconvenient issue is the tpms sensor malfunction. Most of the time the sensors seem to be working perfectly but every time I drive above 50 mph for at least half an hour the dashboard shows tpms sensor malfunctioning. After I turned off the engine for at least 15 to 30 minutes and I turn on the engine again. The problem seems to disappear temporarily.
The backup camera is sometimes upside down, flashes, or won't come on at all. Various things other than functioning properly. I've completed the sync update and that didn't resolve the issue. This started happening around the same time newer Ford models were showing the exact same issues.
