I purchased this vehicle in 2016 with a open recall, the dealership failed to inform me about or fix prior to selling it. The vehicle has had several problems they refused to repair even though I purchased it from them. They are a gm dealership said they do not have the tools to make any repairs on the vehicle. This incident in question happened on 11-04-17 the car was sitting in my driveway and I noticed a puddle of gas under the car, the gas tank is what was leaking and there has been a open recall on it since 2014.

Takata recall. Dealership has not scheduled repair date. Fuel tank rust/leak recall. Dealer has stated repair dates unknown.

Driving home after I picked up the kids from school. I had a strong smell of gasoline in the cabin of my car. We were cr 108 not even a mile from my dirt road (willie hodges rd) I rolled down the windows, I have 3 kids, and made it home. I saw there was a recall on some 2009-2010 Edges for faulty gas tanks. I looked up the VIN and the only recall I have on my car is for air bags, which they have yet to resolve. I have a feeling my Edge was installed a faulty fuel tank.

My vehicle was accelerating on a straight section of road during rush hour (had at least a half tank of gas). I was pushing normally on the gas pedal to keep moving and suddenly, without warning, the car decelerated and lost power as if I ran out of gas. It came to a complete stop. No limp mode, I had to coast to a place to pull over. Power was on and all components were working except there was no gas when I pushed the gas pedal. The wrench icon lit up on the dashboard. When I turned off and then restarted the engine the gas pedal worked so I put it in "drive" and accelerated cautiously. After five minutes, I lost power again, just before entering a major highway. The sudden loss of power could have killed me on a highway, or in the middle of any busy intersection, not to mention harm other drivers and passengers. I took it to Ford service the next day and they said I had a bad throttle body. It was not contaminated, it just failed. They stated that this was the first time they saw a failed throttle body in a 2016 Edge. (13,000 miles). My husband said it happened to him once earlier this year, and he immediately called the service department for advice. He was instructed to turn the car off and it should be fine after starting it back up. It worked. That may be a short term solution - to get home. It is not a solution to this life threatening problem.

Takata recall autonation has sent a letter for recall on takata airbags but has no replacement airbags. There is also a recall for corroded gas tank. I see none of these in your recall database so I assume the recall has been rescinded. I was waiting for airbags to come in to get it repaired together. That never happened. This is a complaint about the process which leaves it unresolved by Ford.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v712000 (fuel system). The contact scheduled an appointment and took the vehicle to the local dealer (johnson city Ford 207 princeton road johnson city, TN 37601) to be repaired. While the contact's wife was driving the vehicle, the check engine indicator illuminated after the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken to lance cunningham Ford (4101 clinton hwy, knoxville TN, 37912) where it was diagnosed that the previous recall repair was performed incorrectly and damaged the wiring harness, which needed to be repaired. The contact also stated that the dealer witnessed exposed wires and zip tied sending unit cables. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that an investigation was in process while the vehicle was being repaired. The contact stated that the exposed wires were above the fuel tank area. The failure mileage was approximately 130,115.

Rec'd initial safety recall (14s22) letter Dec. 2014 & 2nd notice April 2016 for the vehicle to be serviced by my authorized dealer, ramsey Ford. May 16th ramsey's ppwork indicates the a sealant was applied. My vehicle failed inspection this April because the gas tank was corroded and leaking gas! I called Ford & spoke to their cust. Ser. Rep, who refused to accept that this tank was not repaired properly & that they should replace it at no cost. They refused to accept the responsibility. I have photos of the tank, but they are too large to include with this form!.

2013 Ford Edge fuel system, gasoline. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire. Leaving the residence. Once passed the control of the security agent of the residence. I accelerate the vehicle normally and then hear a rather deafening noise. I stop the vehicle immediately and process to exit the vehicle quickly as I feel the body warm. Once I get out of the vehicle and run to a safe place about 40 feet away, I throw myself on the ground and look at the vehicle and see that the vehicle is burning. I can see that the fire is consuming the vehicle and can observe fire inside the vehicle coming out of the windows and fire through the bottom of the vehicle that goes from the front of the engine down the side. And the fire runs to the gas tank.

The vehicle was identifed under NHTSA campaign number 14v682000 and was taken to my local Ford dealership on August 22, 2016 to have the necessary repairs completed. A strong fuel odor was coming from the vehicle. After less than 30 minutes, the Ford dealership called and said the repairs were completed. The only repairs that were completed were four new bolts (I have the invoice from the Ford dealership showing only four new bolts were installed). The fuel tank was not replaced, no corrosion preventative was applied to the tank, and no inspection report was provided. Starting in August 2017, a strong fuel odor started again. The vehicle was returned to the local Ford dealership, and I was informed that the fuel tank had so much corrosion it was starting to split in one corner. The Ford dealership said it recommended a new fuel tank, and that it would not be covered until the safety recall and it would be my responsibility to pay for the new fuel tank.

Noticed steady stream of fuel leaking, from fuel line behind rear wheel weal, while vehicle was stationary during refueling process. Fuel continued to leak, from the fuel line at alarming rate, while the vehicle was in motion to be dropped off to be serviced at the dealership. From gas station to dealership is less than 5 miles, however fuel gauge went from 3/4 tank to half way above 1/2 tank. In addition, the miles to empty gauge dropped almost 50 miles over this time frame (about a mile every 10th of a mile driven).

Had an "cel" check engine light come on for no reason. I have a 2009 Ford Edge that has had a strong odor of gas. I have it in the repair shop and I am being told that there is a hole/leak in the seal to the gas tank. There has been a recall for this same problem on 07 and 08 Ford Edge. The cost to repair this is going to be $1800. 00 which would include tank, o ring and gasket. Whether vehicle is stationary or moving it leaks fuel from the gas tank or the seals, or the brackets. We are only able to fill it a half tank at a time. Even then, turning a corner too sharp will cause the smell and leakage of fuel. We called and there is no recall on my vehicle. I do not see how there is not. It randomly started happening one day. I have been dealing with it for a while now. Hoping that a recall would come up or some type of investigation.

We were smelling gasoline in our garage and the smell was coming from car. The car was taken to a local shop where it was hoisted and a gasoline leak discovered at the "seam" of my gas tank. We were instructed to return the car to the dealership as it may have a recall and was clearly a manufacturer defect. My husband called avis Ford who in fact instructed us to bring the car in. We had the car towed at our expense of over $80. 00 only to get to the dealership and have them say there was an error and that the 2009 Edge did not have a recall. There have been recalls on tanks on models from 2007 up to 2014 but apparently not the 09. The leak is apparently a manufacturer defect and not caused by damage to the tank from a foreign object striking it . It is terribly frightening to me to know that Ford has not stepped up to the plate and maybe only a fatality would force them to so. I travel daily with a 30 month and 17 month old in my car and cannot imagine having to get them both out of 5 point restraint car seats in the event of a fire. Is this what Ford is waiting for to acknowledge the unacceptable danger of a gas tank leak. A recall needs to be issued in order to save lives.

I have a 2010 Ford Edge. When parked in my garage, I would notice the odor of gasoline. Later, I noticed fuel stains on my slightly slanted driveway under where the Edge was often parked. The local Ford dealership inspected my tank and found that it was severely corroded in several locations, including the seams of the tank. Several calls to various numbers for Ford customer relations only result in many minutes on hold, to be told the same thing - which is that the 2010 is not subject to the 14s22 recall for 2007 and 2008 models. The representative told me to keep my receipts when I have the repairs done and Ford may reimburse me if the recall is expanded. The estimate for the repair and replacement of the corroded tank is $5000. On top of that, there are no tanks available. This gas tank problem is an acknowledged safety issue. Apparently, Ford would rather I drive a vehicle that their dealership affirms is unsafe, than enroll me in the programs available to 2007/08 model year owners who come under the #14s22 recall. Hopefully, the number of complaints on this issue has reached a critical mass to be defined as "a trend. " I pray that there are no fires, injuries or worse because of this safety issue.
