The contact submitted the complaint on behalf of the contact's son. The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while the contact's son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel detached. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a detached steering wheel assembly bolt. The contact was informed that the steering wheel assembly bolt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided no assistance. The contact was advised to report the failure to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 60,701.
