2 Steering Noise problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2016

Ford had a 2015 recall for power steering problems, during which this vehicle was checked. Two months ago my mechanic checked my steering because of a noise and advised me not to drive it on the highway. As I was driving into my driveway the power steering went out. What if this went out at highway speeds and had a baby in the car? reading online other people's experiences with power steering problems the car shouldn't be driven. Ford should be made to extend their recalls and give trade in credit to get these cars off the road. They are a danger to all. I had all the fuses checked and unhooked the battery. Everything points to the electric assisted power steering or such which is a $1200 repair that is not guaranteed to last long.

7 Steering Noise problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2014

Was driving and taking a turn when the power steering went out. Stopped the car and then shut it off. When I restarted the car the power steering was back on. However, there was considerable shaking in the steering wheel with a rattling noise coming from the steering column. This was only the latest incident. Earlier in the morning when I started my car there wasn't power steering. I turned the car off and then on again at which time it worked. This has been going on for about a month happening maybe 1 or 2 times a week. The shaking and noise from the steering column is getting louder while idling.

8 Steering Noise problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2014

Suddenly I began hearing a clicking noise in the dash of my 2008 Escape with 96,800 miles. Next I began hearing a raspy noise in the steering column. While in idle my steering wheel jerks to the left and right on it's own. Both the jerking and the noises come and go with out any prior warning. This seems to be a major issue in many of the 2008 Escapes, and someone is going to get seriously injured or killed. I contacted Ford and they acted like they new nothing of the issue. Until this point I have been pretty pleased with my vehicle, but the fact that Ford has not had a recall after so many incidents, makes me not want to buy a Ford ever again. My mechanic has suggested I replace the electronic steering column. The cost will be around $1300. 00 with parts and labor.

9 Steering Noise problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2014

At idle speeds vehicle wheel shakes on its own when driving, power steering sensors force wheel to fluctuate, and motor inside steering column makes noise. Vehicle taken to dealer, was told standard fix is for steering column to be replaced, but cannot yet verify that is needed yet. Was told the condition will get worse, and for now to wait on repair, which would cost $1,600 to replace steering column.

10 Steering Noise problem

I bought my 2008 Ford Escape on January 15 2013 at 67,000 miles it has 78,000 miles and is doing what so many other complaints said are doing. When I go to turn left especially makes a loud bang click noise in the steering wheel/column. I do have a warranty but others don't. There is over 500 complaints on this issue on safe car. Gov. Please dont let a death be a deciding factor for a recall to be issued and to save a couple bucks. Evidently there is a problem. Like I said had my car for one year.
