36 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2015

Was completely stopped and took off slightly pressing the gas peddle and it felt like it tried to stall out and then lunged forward. The service wrench came on and we stopped and turned the vehicle off then started it again and that time both service wrench and service engine light came on. Went in to get the engine light tested and the result was throttle actuator control and throttle body range, code p2119.

37 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2015

Tell us what happened: was completely stopped and took off slightly pressing the gas pedal and it felt like it tried to stall out and then lunged forward. The service wrench came on and we stopped and turned the vehicle off then started it again and that time both service wrench and service engine light came on. Went in to get the engine light tested and the result was throttle actuator control and throttle body range, code p2119.

38 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2015

We lost power from our gas pedal. Then it got hot. Then it would not move.

39 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2015

When I began to takeoff the engine or trans hesitated badly and the "wrench" light came on and stayed on until I turned off the engine. When I restarted the engine the wrench light did not come on. Next day while driving the engine and transmission hesitated again and the wrench light came back on. This still continues.

40 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

I pulled out of my street on to a main road and with no warning my Escape shut off completely while driving and multiple cars almost hit me because it was so unexpected. Now my car randomly shuts off and goes into limp mode, causing it to be quite dangerous to drive my vehicle because it gives you no warning.

41 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2015

While moving in left of two lanes in moderate traffic at ~58 mph the car lost all power. Accelerator did not function. 'wrench' warning light on dashboard was illuminated. All electrical equipment, power brakes, and power steering seemed to function normally. Vehilce had no power, meaning that driver could not control speed of vehicle. Right turn signal was activated and the vehicle was 'coasted' to the right berm -- almost being hit by another vehicle! driver sat in vehicle assessing status of all gauges and (warning) lights. Nothing appeared out of ordinary except for 'wrench' light. Vehicle was turned of. After 30 second pause, vehicle was restarted. Wrench light was not illuminated and, again, all gauges and lights appeared normal. Re-entered traffic and successfully reached grocery store -- 1 mile away. Vehicle was parked. Upon completion of shopping vehicle was started and driver was able to return home (~5 miles) without event reoccurring. This is an extremely dangerous situation. It is only through 'good luck' that our vehicle was not hit by other traffic. Driver had zero control over vehicle speed.

42 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2015

Driving normally, throttle control powertrain warning light comes on, check engine light comes on, car gas pedal does not work, engine idles and does not accelerate. When you shut the car all the way off and wait then restart the engine the car works as normal again.

43 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2014

I have had the two recalls fixed in July for my 2010 Ford Escape. However, in the past two months my car has been in the shop regarding the (wrench light) throttle/powertrain light coming on. My car looses power when I accelerate and the light comes on. It goes off once I turn off the car which is making it very difficult for the dealership to identify the problem. They claim they can't find anything and unfortunately I can't get the car to the dealership when the light is on. They have run a history for the codes that have come up on the car, but there are no recent codes/problems. I keep telling them that I am having the same problems listed in the Ford recall notice but I am told that there is nothing they can do if there is no code showing a problem. I am terrified to drive my son in this car. I also commute 100 miles daily down a very busy highway and I am worried that the car will die and I won't be able to pull off the road safely. Ford needs to do something immediately because the problem with the Escape has not been fixed!.

44 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2014

While driving into work with my cruise control set at 60mph, my vehicle suddenly sputtered and the cruise control disengaged and there seemed to be a loss of power. I remember this description from the throttle bottle notification I received from Ford a few months back. I had taken my Escape into the dealership on 9/11/14 to have this taken care off and now 2 weeks later my vehicle now has the throttle control/powertrain warning light on and is showing all signs of the notification from Ford. I know this issue has already been addressed, but now I am questioning as to whether or not Ford is actually fixing the problem.

45 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

I was driving down the highway and the vehicle lurched and lost power. The motor was still running, but when pushing the accelerator there was nothing. I pulled to the side of the road and stopped. The vehicle continued to "lope" and there was a light on the dash showing a little wrench. I turned the vehicle off and started it back up again, and it ran fine. This same thing has happened at least 4 more times. If there was no immediate way to get off the highway, this could be very dangerous resulting in a rear end collision.

46 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2014

Was driving along at 55 mph when out of the blue the engine sputtered and car shook. The check engine light came on and I had no acceleration from the gas pedal, the car was hard to steer and almost no brakes. When I finally stopped the car the check engine light was still on along with the throttle control/power train wrench light and the anti theft system light blinking. I restarted the car numerous times only to move about a 10th of a mile and it happen again. I have had the car only for 2 days now. I read online a lot of other people having this problem. Ford need to be made aware of this and offer a fix.

47 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

I was driving my vehicle onto I-95 when the wrench light came on and the car started to buck and pull unable to accelerate the vehicle; pulled over to the side of the highway and turned car off for a few minutes and restarted the car but was no able to accelerate and had to drive on the shoulder until I was able to exit. The vehicle had done it before a few times but since last episode, having returned home on side streets, the car will not drive and is sitting on my driveway.

48 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2014

My family and I were traveling hw 113 in va coming back to PA from nc. My husband accelerated to pass a vehicle. After passing, our vehicle began losing acceleration. . . My husband pushed the gas pedal to the floor and was not getting any acceleration. The wrench light illuminated and we had to make an emergency stop on the side of the highway while cars were passing us and coming up on us quickly. We came to a stop and the vehicle began to stall. My husband shut the vehicle off, waiting a minute and restarted. The vehicle seemed to run fine the rest of the way to PA. We called the dealership the following day (Monday) and were told they could not get the vehicle in until 8/4. I began finding info on the web regarding Ford's customer satisfaction program 13n03 regarding the throttle body. I took the vehicle in and was told there were not any codes showing on the computer. They refused to replace the throttle body. I was told to drive the vehicle and if it happened again to bring it back. I refused and insisted they replace it. I am now still fighting with Ford to reimburse me. I have sent letters to Ford only to receive a "form letter" back from them suggesting that I take the vehicle to the dealership to determine if the throttle body needs replacement. . . I had it replaced already. . . They obviously do not read letters sent to them. I will keep fighting but I do not understand why the NHTSA continues to receive complaints about this issue and does nothing about it. It is a huge safety issue! shame on Ford and the NHTSA!.

49 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2014

While traveling on i495 at a steady highway speed of 68mph the car without warning dropped to idle speed with rapid deceleration. The engine did not shut down but ran approx. 800-900rpm. We pulled to the side of the to avoid being hit from behind. I had to shut the car off and restart to get any throttle response. I traveled off the interstate on slower roads to get home for fear of this happening at high speed again. It has happened three more time both at high speed and acceleration from a stop. It was back to the Ford dealer for the recall 13b17 on 7/7/14. There have been two more events of no power from stop and low power at highway speed since the TSB was performed. No parts have been replaced, no codes set.

52 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2014

I was pulling out of a parking lot gave it gas. The car went clunk and then stopped moving but engine was still running. Luckily I got to the side of the road shut it off waited a bit then tried to start it. At first it hesitated but started. 2 days later it did it again. Had it on a computer nothing showed up. 2 weeks later on a Saturday it happened again. Then on Monday going to work it did it again. When I was coming home from work that day it did it 2 more times at that time the service engine light came on and then we were able to get a code. He code came up as p2112. Thank you.

53 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2014

Traveling approximately 30-40 mph when the wrench indicator illuminated and the vehicle lost all power. I coasted into a pull off on the side of the road. Turned off the vehicle. Restarted a few minutes later and was able to accelerate. In approximately five minutes, at the same approximate speed, the wrench indicator illuminated again and the vehicle lost all power. Again I turned off the vehicle and then restarted. I was able to get to the local Ford dealership. The dealership could not find any codes stored in the system and they were unable to duplicate the problem. The recalled "reprogramming" was completed on the car. They have offered to keep my vehicle for an additional day to try to reproduce the problem and to check a few additional items.

54 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2014

On numerous occassions I have noticed my truck accelerating while I was stopped. On June 10, I was on my way to church and I was driving and my car stopped accerlerating and when I pressed the accelerator it no power went to the car and it started spurting. I had to coast and pull over. The wrench light came on. I cut the truck off and then cranked the car again and I was accelerating. Two days later this happened to me again two different times.

55 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2014

I was driving to work on i75 at 75 mph when my 2010 Ford Escape lost power dropping to less than 20 mph. I was able to get from the left lane to the berm three lanes to my right. I waited about 5 minutes and restarted the car driving about 100 yds. When it happened again. I turned the car off and waited about 20 minutes then restarted and was able to get to work on side roads with the car surging and jerking along the way. I took the car to huntington Ford the next day and they could not find a cause. The following day I received a letter from Ford regarding what huntington referred to as a "limp home" mode which let take to a dealer and have the throttle body reprogrammed, which I did. The car was ok for a few days after that and then started stalling and surging again. I called the dealer and they said I should replace the throttle body but that even though it was under an extended warranty I would still need to pay for the replacement.

56 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2014

I went to stop at the light and SUV jerked and shook. Sounded like bottom fell out of SUV. Pulled into parking lot. SUV running but when putting foot on gas nothing would happen, no matter what gear. Took it to repair shop and they said throttle body bad. This is the 2nd part that is defective on the 2010 Ford Escape!!! replaced transmission at 60,500 miles (got ripped off when Ford would not warranty)!.

57 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2014

Concern 25 & 51 - vehicle leaking oil and grease from engine/transaxle area.

58 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2014

1st occurrence: I was driving at 35mph and suddenly my car surged forward then slowed down to 5mph. I tried to accelerate to a higher mph but it would not let me go any faster. I could steer and the radio was still on. Confused, I coasted off the side of the road, looked at the instrument panel for a light of some kind (none were there). I then turned off the engine and let it sit for approximately 2 minutes then it restarted and I drove home (about 1 1/2 miles) the 2nd occurrence - may 6th. I had just left my doctor's office, within 1 1/2 minutes & driving 15 mph (1/16 of a mile) the failure happened again. I again had to coast to the side of the road apply my hazard lights and turn off the engine for approximately 2 minutes. It re-started and I drove it home (it was intermediately surging forward) about 5 miles. The 3rd occurrence: may 8th on I-70 westbound :speed 60 mph: loss of power, coasted to the berm of the highway, ( thank goodness all the traffic was 1 mile behind me or this could have caused a serious accident) turned it off and waited about 2 minutes and restarted made it to work and home without further stalling but the jerking continued. I called interstate Ford (miamisburg) explained the problems I was experiencing and my fear to drive this vehicle.

59 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2014

I was driving at approximately 25 mph, and suddenly the car began to sputter. The gas pedal was non responsive and the car was surging forward. I pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car off. About 5 mins later I turned it back on and the engine and throttle lights came on. After a few seconds the throttle light went off, but the engine light stayed on. I then tried to drive the car home, but after about two blocks the same thing happened again. This happened several more times until I could get the car to a safe place and out of the road. The car is still in the parking lot where I left it and I am currently trying to find out my towing and repair options.

60 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2014

I was driving about 20 mph when all of a sudden my car started thrusting forward. It was almost like my car had died and when I would step on the gas it wouldn't work and there was no rpm's. My car would just thrust forward and come to a crawl. Then when I would stop my car it wouldn't move forward. This has happened 3 times in the past month. The first time I was at a stop light and my car had died and I stopped traffic for about 15 minuets. When I would turn my car off and re-start it it would finally work. My car never poped a code until it happened again yesterday. We red the code and it was p1111. The throttle body was stuck open. The part that I need is #9l8e-bc. My car is a 2010 and low miles.

61 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2014

Travelling on freeway in fort worth and car went into "limp mode". Was fortunate enough to be able to get to the side of the road. The "wrench" light immediately came on as well as the "check engine" light. I turned the car off, then after about 30 seconds, was able to restart the car and proceed approx. 4 more miles before same thing happened again. At this point I contacted the dealer who I purchased the car from and they sent a tow truck out the next morning.

62 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2014

While driving approx 45-60 mph wrench icon and engine icon lights came on vehicle stopped accelerating everything else worked and engine was still running, gas pedal did not accelerate or raise rpm's. Pulled to side of road put in park and turned engine off, vehicle started with hesitation wrench light did not appear, engine light remained on though vehicle was drivable again. Problem happend repetitively the rest of the 45 min drive home with wrench light appearing and acceleration ceasing had to pull over and restart numerous times. Engine icon remains lit.

63 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2014

The first time I noticed I was putting the car into park and my car felt like it was slipping on ice. (it was a clear day) the second time I was going around 40mph and all of sudden it started slowing down on it's on to almost completely stopping and I turned into a driveway to get off the road. The wrench symbol came on , on the dashboard. I turned the car off and then back on to turn and around and drive it to a safe location.

64 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2014

I was at a complete stop. Bwhind a vehicle at a stop light. When I released the gas, my vehicle surged forward and hit the vehicle in front of me. Fron that day forward, my vehicle had frequently surged forward or reved up qhile at a complete stop. Now, my vehicle will shut off while I'm driving with no warning. The only light I see is the wrench light and that's only while the vehicle is rolling to a stop after shutting off.

65 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2014

While driving at 55mph on road. I lost all power to gas pedal the car was hard to steer to the side of the road. Put car in park shut car off . Waited a few minutes an started car up. It ran. This happens2or3 times on the same day then it might not happen again for a week or two this a ongoing problem that Ford should place o asafety recall not on soft customer satisfaction program#13no3 this is aserious safety issue.

66 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2014

As I was driving down the road my vehicle lost power, it did not stall, it slowed to almost no speed. I turned off the vehicle and turned it back on. I was able to drive it for about 3 more miles until it happened again. This time the check engine light came on. It took me three time of turning on and off the engine within a block from my house. Finally I was able to get it into my drive way. I took into the Ford dealership and they replaced the throttle body.

67 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2014

While driving at approximately 45 mph, the wrench indicator light lit up on my instrument panel and I lost power to the wheels. Had vehicle towed to dealership on 1/10/14 where the mechanics diagnosed a throttle body failure.

68 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

While driving down the interstate my Escape suddenly lost power and slowed to around 5 mph. I pulled to the shoulder, placed the car in park, shut it off, waited a few minutes, then started it and continued on my way. This has happened two more times since, both while traveling 30 mph in town. I followed the same procedure and was able to continue on my way. I believe this to be an issue with the throttle body, as I have consulted my local mechanic. He confirmed that he has seen a few Escapes with the same issue.

69 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2014

I was driving about 30 miles an hour and the wrench warning light came on my dashboard. My car started to coast to a stop. I could no longer accelerate or maintain my speed. Luckily, I was able to get to the side of the road safely as my car came to a stop. The electrical was still working. I turned off my car and waited. I placed several calls and found out how to reset. I turned the key, without turning the engine, pumped the gas pedal three times, and turned the car fully off. I then turned the car on, and the light was no longer on. It now seems to be working fine. I am very concerned that this problem will return and could possibly happen on interstate or on a crowded street, and I may not be so lucky.

70 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2014

I was driving along a road and suddenly my car jolted and almost all of my dashboard lights lit up. The engine was on, but nothing was happening. I pushed the accelerator down and nothing, still. As I was pulling off to the side of the road, the car died. I waited five minutes and the engine was able to be restarted. But the engine light stayed on. I had to turn the engine on and off multiple times to restart the engine. This had happened a couple of times before, but nothing as severe.
