I had my car programming updated and just recently, my power steering went completely out which is causing me to need my whole steering column replaced. I contacted Ford, however, they stated since they "closed" recall 14s05, they would not cover the damages. My car has been in the shop for a week now as I battle with Ford. Ford and sterling mccall are rude and will need assist with this issue as the recall repair has failed the 1st time and now the power steering will need to be replaced. I was in motion with my 6 month old daughter when the steering when out, but luckily we were able to avoid an accident.
Steering column not working stationary or in motion.
This can happen any time the engine is stop, while park at home, shopping any where the engine is stop . To start the key in inserted to steering column opening and it will not engage properly at times it takes to move back and fort the key while inserted and it will start, this is happening more often now. Took the Escape to grand prairie Ford texas and they said it was the steering column lock module need to be replace plus an alignment total for $787. 65 understand that the 2009 Escape has the same problem but Ford has issued a recall on it but not the 2010, this is rather absurd since the know the problem. Now I have the choice to repair or drive until the key no longer works, what a choice, I'm a widower , retired and live on ss, thanks Ford.
Power steering stopped working as I drove. Googled, lots of problems, bad part in steering column, some recalled not this VIN. Should be.
I had the recall 14s05c done in February to "fix" the potential electric power steering problem by reprogramming the pscm and ipc modules. Now in September I started my car and the steering just stopped working. Towed it to the dealer and they said the steering column and power steering needs to be replaced for a cost of $1,350. I sure hope Ford will pay for this. I mean, what's the point of a recall service if it doesn't fix the problem.
I drive a 2010 Ford Escape and received a recall notice (#14s05) for the power steering sensor. I took it to liberty Ford in parma heights in October 2014 to have this fixed. In late January 2015 I again received the same signal on my dashboard that I did prior to the recall. My steering wheel became hard to steer. I brought it back to the dealer and was informed that the steering column needs to be replaced and this would cost me almost 1200. 00. The dealer informed me that this really doesn't have anything to do with the recall and is due to normal wear and tear on the vehicle. Another customer going through the same thing advised me that his mechanic advised him that this is a known Ford defect. They are passing these costs onto me - this is so unfair. I have no recourse but to pay this amount since it is my only vehicle.

The power steering on my 2010 Ford Escape has stopped working, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. I took the vehicle to my local dealer who wanted $1,054. 00 to replace the entire steering column. I contacted Ford motor company corporate customer service department who said there was nothing they could do. The vehicle only has 85,495 miles.
The electronic power steering randomly stops working. You can turn the ignition off and back on and it works for a while. I took it to a Ford service dept. Said it would cost around $1500. 00 to replace the steering column. After researching online I have found this to be a very frequent problem. There should be a recall before somebody, if not already, is killed.

First incident: I was driving along rte 95 heading towards the tapanzee bridge going 65 mph when suddenly the power steering went and it became very difficult to steer. I immediately tried to safely exit the highway to find out what was wrong. It was extremely hard to steer, but thankfully I found a fairly safe place to stop and turn the car off. I waited about 5 minutes trying to figure out what to do. Then I started the car and the problem was gone. Second incident: my wife was coming home from work on April 11th, 2013 when she stopped at a stop sign. When she began to make a right turn onto a busy street, the power steering went again. Luckily she made it home safely and informed me of what happened. I turned the car on and took it for a drive. The power steering was back on. There were at least two more times when all of a sudden the power steering went off and after awhile came back on. We had a new power steering column assembly put in our Ford Escape on June 6th, 2013. Luckily we had a Ford premium care warranty plan and this problem was covered, but had to pay $100 deductible. Recently Ford has announced a safety recall on the power steering assembly on Ford Escapes manufactured in certain parts of the country. My VIN number was not part of that safety recall, yet I had the same problem with my power steering. What would I have had to pay to replace this power steering if I hadn't had a warranty plan? I want Ford to reimburse my $100 deductible, but they say since my VIN number at this time was not part of the recall they won't reimburse me. What kind of customer relations in this with a big company like Ford who wants to sell cars in good faith. It is lucky for them that my family or someone else was not injured when the power steering went in my Ford Escape.
Upon startup, vehicle extremely difficult to turn, no power steering. Took to local Ford dealership. Hard fault code b1342, epas failure. Repair: replace entire steering column. If this had happened on the freeway at higher speed, the ability to swerve would have been near impossible, potentially causing a serious accident. Cost of repair, $1400.
