Tl- the contact owns 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while traveling uphill at various speeds, the vehicle would shut off as the check engine light would illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where she has had the catalytic converter, the camshaft sensor, and oil delivery senor replaced on separate occasions. The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was unable to reach a representative. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the check engine light was illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v777000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called at local dealer woodrum Ford Lincoln located at 3100 e jackson st, macomb, IL 61455 (309) 833-2111 where informed that the remedy parts were not available. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and opened case number cas-14730966 but no further assistance was provided. The contact had experienced a failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000. Ap.
I don't remember exactly when the problem accured, just one day the check engine light came on. Took it to a mechanic and they said it might be the fuel flap. As time went on nothing seemed to not be working. Took it to a mechanic today and turns out the engine mounting bracket is cracked. Call Ford and tey want me to pay out of pocket. Problem is this is a manufacturer problem not something I have done. Notlike theyve ever honored a warrenty in the past with me any way. To them its always user error even when the vehicle is more damaged than I left it with them.
When accelerating from a stopped position, the vehicle felt as if it were about to stall. I pressed the clutch and the vehicle did not stall, but would not move forward. I turned the vehicle off. I restarted the vehicle (which hesitated to catch for several seconds). Upon the vehicle starting, I again attempted to accelerate through the intersection. At first the vehicle seemed ok, but shortly through the intersection the vehicle lost all acceleration. I pulled off to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. After several minutes I restarted the vehicle and was able to continue without incident, however the "check engine" light was illuminated. I had the vehicle checked and it read error code p2111. The check engine light went out and the vehicle did not give me problems again until August 20, 2015. As I accelerated from a stopped position, the vehicle again lost all power to the engine (though it did not stall). I was able to move to the side of the road and disengage the engine. After several minutes, and with a hesitated "catch" the engine restarted. I believe this is an existing and known problem with Ford (NHTSA pe13003), however, I was told by my local dealer and Ford customer service that the warranty extension offered under that investigation does not apply to my vehicle (which falls within all of the guidelines for year, make, model, and mileage).
Vehicle stalls, lunges, and surges with loss of power while driving. This issue is well documented on 2011 Ford Escapes with countless similar experiences posted online. Problem happens unpredictability so when taken to the dealership they were aware of the issue but would not replace the culprit part, the throttle body, without a check engine light lit or the vehicle reproducing the problem in the limited time they had the vehicle.
Like many other reports I have read the vehicle ceased to respond on 11/24/2014. The engine was still running (rough), the wrench light came on I was unable to get any power when pushing the gas pedal. Turned it off and restarted (sluggish) but then like nothing happened made it to my destination. Happened again 11/30/2014 this time I was travelling at 35mph. Pulled over and restarted and then it happened again about a mile further down the road. This time after shutting it off and restarting the check engine light came on and stayed on. Why is this not a recall issue? all other post have mentioned throttle body. Its a major safety issue if I was on the highway or in heavy traffic it could of ended in a serious or fatal situation.
Driving down freeway at 85 miles per hour. Vehicle stalls and rpms or mph won't move. Pull over put in park, vehicle shakes real bad and wrench comes on. Turn off and restart, wrench drops off. 50 miles down the road same instance, except after restarting wrench drops and check engine light comes on. Bring to dealership. Throttle actuator control system stuck open and they say possible recall. Week later going 65 down highway and same instance happens. Take it to different dealership and they say we have throttle body recall, they recalibrate the recall. Now vehicle doesn't always switch rpms when it's supposed to. It'll jerk before shifting and then wrench and check engine light comes back on. Back to dealership and they say throttle actuator control and possible new throttle body down the road. Spent almost 1000 dollars on recall in last couple months and now they telling us the recall was just a recalibration and but might need a new throttle body?? what was the recall for. Frustrated with Ford.
1st time I was coming to a stop at a light and the vehicle wanted to surge forward several times, when light turned green I tried to accelerate and it hesitated. This would happen every now and again, not a continuous issue. In Dec 2014 it happened again this time with the vehicle stalling, put in park and it started right up but hesitated when accelerating, did this several times within a 5 mile span. Parked, did my 8 hour work day came out, started right up and no issues driving home. Later that night my husband drove it and it stalled on him 3 times with the check engine light coming on. Code p144a came up, took it to my mechanic and was told the code thrown should not cause stalling issues. This has been an ongoing battle, sometimes the vehicle running great, sometimes I don't know if I'll make it to my destination. This happens at all speeds; in city, interstate, or at a complete stop. I only have 72000 in mileage and my vehicle is well kept, what is going on?!?.
Several weeks earlier, as a was stopped at a traffic light, my car started bucking or surging, feeling as though it was going to stall. It did not stall at that point. A few minutes later, as a was slowed down by a bus, it did stall. Restarted very easily and I kept driving. Every few days, we would notice the surging, and the check engine light was on. Took it to the dealer and the was told there was a problem with the fuel system, but they weren't sure what exactly. Stalled a second time post dealer visit. This morning, as I was in motion at 35 miles an hour, the car suddenly shut off. I coasted very easily to the shoulder, but could not restart. Car has been towed to the local dealer. Awaiting their answer, but sounds very much like the other throttle body issues I've read on here. I'm fortunate to have been on the highway yet, especially with my young child in the back seat. This was a scary situation, and I'm not pleased that the previous recall did not include the 2011 model year. Please reopen the investigation.
Complete loss of power, no throttle response, loss of speed on highway. Dash shows wrench, check engine light. Was able to pull off road, turned off engine. Restarted car. Same situation within another 3 miles of restart. Auto zone verified code p2111. This failure put the family into a very dangerous situation at highway speeds.
Throttle quit working. Would only idle and check engine light and wrench light came on. Pulled off on the side of the road and had to cut engine off and back on to get throttle working. Happened again one week later. Just lucky was not on interstate in heavy traffic doing 70 mph. Both times engine code was p2111, throttle actuator stuck open. Vehicle has 60000 miles on it and dealer said throttle body was not under power train and was only covered under the 3/36 warranty. Purchased new throttle body at dealer and parts manager said it was the fourth revision to the part number. Hope they got it right this time, it could put you in a very dangerous situation.
I bought my 2011 Ford Escape brand new and it has about 40k miles on it. I've never had any issues. It's been a great car with all of my traveling and I've always trusted that it would get me from point a to point b safely. Until today! I got an oil change and check-up last week, no problems. This morning, I was driving on a busy 4-lane interstate when my car lost all power and started shaking and jerking. I was going about 65-70 mph when it stalled and quickly decelerated as cars were swerving around me and speeding past. The engine was still running, the check engine light popped on, and pressing the gas pedal did nothing. It was a miracle that I was able to safely maneuver over to the shoulder without causing an accident and killing someone or myself. I was completely caught off guard and spooked by the whole thing. I restarted my car and the check engine light was off and the car seemed normal. I got off at the next exit to avoid playing car accident roulette on the highway. Everything was fine for the next few miles. Then. . It happened again! this time as I was approaching a busy intersection. Scary, scary stuff. It was like driving a ticking time bomb! this time the check engine light remained on and it took me twice to get my engine to restart. I drove directly to the nearest Ford dealership. I was very caught off guard as my car had just been serviced and had always been reliable in the past. Ford replaced the throttle body. After a simple google search, I discovered how common this issue has been and was shocked. I cannot believe that this part hasn't been recalled yet! I find it to be extremely irresponsible of Ford to be so complacent with a known issue when people's lives are in jeopardy. Turning your back on a problem and ignoring it is not satisfactory customer service. This part needs to be recalled ASAP before someone is hurt or killed.
My wife was driving her car home when the wrench light came on and the car went into limp mode dramatically reducing the cars speed to 15 mph. Good thing she had gotten off the interstate before this happened. The check engine light came on I read the code it was p2111 throttle stuck open. Turning the car off reset the throttle body for about 5 miles then the car went back into limp mode and it even quit. This happened on 9/27/13 on Monday 9/30/13 I called the local Ford dealer they said the car was out of warranty by mileage and the throttle body was not covered. The Ford dealer had 2 throttle bodies on hand my wife took my car the Ford dealer and bought a throttle body for her car at a cost of $181. After I installed the new throttle body the check engine light and the wrench light have went out and the car runs like new. My biggest concern if this had happened wile she was on the interstate and the car went into limp mode this could have cause a major accident maybe even killing her and my niece who was with her.
While driving down the highway my vehicle went straight to limp mode with no warning at all. I had to pull to the side of the highway while traffic was stopping behind me and trying to pass me. A wrench light and check engine light came on and I could not throttle my vehicle at all. I cut the ignition off, let it sit a minute and cranked it again. The problem went away. This has happened numerous times the last 2 days. It has happened while trying to go through intersections and while turning across traffic. The diagnostics at advanced auto shows throttle body stuck open. This is a very dangerous situation that seems to be happening to a lot of these vehicles.
While driving at 45 mph engine lost power maintenance and check engine light came on. After stopping and shutting down the engine. Engine was hard to restart. Engine started and I resumed driving. Now this is a regular occurrence happening with no warning. The code in the computer is p2112, throttle actuator control system stuck closed. It happens at various speed including interstate speeds. While looking for a replacement part I found this is happening to a lot of Escape owners and a recall was issued for earlier models. It appears to me Ford has yet to fix the problem. I am reluctant to invest the $500-$600 for the repair if it is just going to happen again.
Was driving for about an hour, then came to a stop light. When the light turned green and I pressed the accelerator, the engine died (but the car's electronics stayed on) and the check engine light came on, no movement from the car. I turned it off and back on. The engine struggled to start. I then proceeded to drive another half mile at about 55mph, and the engine stalled again while at driving speed. I managed to pull over, turned it off, waited 5 minutes, then was able to drive 3 miles home. A month and half later, my wife was driving at roughly 30mph and the engine did the same thing(stalled). Turned it off, struggled to start, but managed to drive 5 miles home. I took it to Ford in between the first and second incident, they said there was nothing wrong, but cleaned the throttle body. I have since learned of investigation # pe13-003 which appears to be the exact problem I am having. Ford has not helped me in the matter, but I believe this issue needs to be addressed.
I was driving to work in the morning and my Escape stalled while going through a four way intersection. I thought that this may have been an isolated incident so I continued driving. I then noticed while I was in traffic that the engine would shutter and not idle normally. It stalled again the next day. I took it to the Ford dealership in the city where I live with the check engine light on, they tested it and then the light reset itself?? they took it on a test drive and nothing happened with them while they were driving so they said that there was nothing that they could do. My car is shutting off while I am in trafic and driving, this is a serious safety issue. I have been blessed that the brakes work on the cars that drive around me or else I would have been in a serious accident on more than one occasion this week!!! please recall these cars and get them fixed before someone dies!!!!.
While driving my 2011 Ford Escape to work when all of the sudden it lost power. My first thought was that the engine had died, but when I looked down I saw that it was still bouncing between 500 and 1000 rpm. I also noticed that the red wrench light had come on. I was able to get the car pulled over into a parking lot. I was not sure what was going on so I shut the car off. A minute or two later I started the car and it started right up. I then continued on to work but after exciting the freeway I stopped at a red light when I went to accelerate from the light the car did the same thing. I was able to pull over and did the same as before. I made it to work with no further issues this time the check engine light came on and stayed on. That afternoon I took the car to the dealership to have it looked at and they asked me to bring it by the next morning. I drove the car home from there with no incident. The next morning I took the Escape back to the dealership after waiting for about three hours the told me that there was a problem with the throttle body. I proceeded to drive the car home and I ended up having the same issue with the care going into what I guess the call safe mode. I was as before able to shut the car down and start it back up again. This happen going across a two lane bridge in traffic luckily the car behind me was far enough behind me that the did not run into me but came real close.
Driving home from work, I was traveling at aprox. 35mph when it first happened. My rpm gauge started to "bounce" from 1 to 4 repeatedly. Make it very hard to stop and could not give it gas. At the same time, my power-train warning light came on along with my check engine light. I was able to pull over and call for assistance.
Vehicle has been stalling daily since July 2013. Vehicle when in for service 4-30-14 do to drivers concern of vehicle crashing at freeway and surface street speeds. On 4-29-14 the vehicle stalled (5) times and seems to stall during throttle changes from closed to traffic flow speeds. The "check engine light" and "fill cap" light were on. Dealer pulled codes p144a, p1450 and p2196 and replaced the purgevalve (9u5z-9c915-h). This is a major safety concern along with the vehicle exceeding emission.
On wed July 3, I was backing it out of garage to take a trip to san antonio. I pulled out onto the street to leave when all of a sudden I lost all power. The check engine light came on along with a tool wrench. I looked in the manuel and it said throttle problem. I turned it off and started it again and it drove perfect for half a block and lost power again. Finally I got it around the block and put it back in the garage where it sits, until I can find out if this is a Ford defect.
While merging into traffic engine shut down to limp home mode check engine light with p2111 & p2112 codes indicating a throttle body position error. Checked all connections at pedal, pcm, and throttle body test drive again same result. Cleaned throttle body with sensor safe cleaner with the same result. Impossible to drive in traffic continuously going into limp home. Extremely dangerous at speed as there is no indication when it may occur close calls with person following in traffic. .
Was driving to the airport and car stalled, picture of a wrench display on the dash. Next case was about 10 days later, was driving local and car stalled 5 times before I made it. Both picture of the wrench and check engine light came on. Parked car until morning, stalled twice on the way to work then got it to the dealership to be fixed. Was told it was the throttle.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle stalled. After the vehicle stalled, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact pulled at a side and was able to restart vehicle and solve failure momentarily. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who inspected vehicle and determined the failure was caused by the throttle body. The failure was not reported to the manufacturer. The failure and current mileage was 29,900. Yn.
While travelling the interstate, the engine suddenly dropped to approximately 600 rpm and subsequently down shifted to low gear. I found myself in the inside lane, during rush-hour traffic, decelerating from 70mph to 5mph with no place to go. I was lucky, but not popular. The check engine light (wrench) came on and I slowly found my way to the emergency lane. After turning off the engine and restarting, everything was ok. This happened another time with, pretty much, the same story. The Ford dealership diagnosed the problem as a bad/stuck throttle body. I've been waiting for them to fix the problem, but they do not have the necessary parts and apparently very little interest. Ford corporate says they will help with the cost, but will not return my calls, so I'm left to wonder about that.
While driving the vehicle it started jolting and sounding as if the vehicle was dying or out of gas(I had a 3/4 tank). I shuttered to a stop and died while I was on the highway. I went to start it again and it rolled over for 20 sec and then stared. I put it in drive and it immediately bogged down and died. Al my check engine lights came on and I called my husband to come help me. When he got there he was able to start it up and get it off the road and into a parking lot before it shuttered and did again. Had it towed and this morning they call me and tell me it is the electronic throttle body. They said it is not covered under warranty and is on back order for weeks. I did some research and found out hundreds of people are having this problem too. This needs to be a recalled as it is dangerous problem.
At approx. 19,800 miles was driving along the interstate and the Escape started losing power. I went from running 75 mph to 40 mph. The Escape now has approx. 33,000 miles and is a total nightmare. As of April 28, 2013 it has been in the shop for a total of 46 days and has had 8 repair attempts. No warning lights nor the check engine light has ever come on. This Escape clunks, surges, loses power, cut's off and at times will not even crank. The transmissions has been reprogrammed, the throttle body and motor asy - throttle body air intake has been replaced, the vapor management valve has been replaced, the torque convertor has been replaced. Lost in arbitration with the bbb because Ford said in their last repair attempt that the vehicle has operating as normal. June 5, 2013 car was back in shop because at 7:45 am stopped at a red light, while my foot was on the brake the rpm's surged up to 4000, could hardly keep it from running the light, once the light changed took off and within 4 tenths of a mile lost power and shut off. It took me 8 minutes to get it to crank, drove about 15 miles, surging all the way, and the car died again, taking me 10 minutes to get it to crank. Took the car back to the shop, they kept it for 7 days, returned it and said they could not duplicate problem. June 20, 2013 tried to crank the car at 10:00 am, it would crank, but go dead, finally at 11:10 am it stayed cranked, drove at 3 tenths of a mile, car goes dead. Takes me 5 minutes to re-crank went straight to the shop. This car is dangerous and Ford needs to re-call.
My 2011 Escape came to a stop at a traffic light and I was preparing to make a right on red, when I began to accelerate into traffic the engine stalled. This could have resulted in a potentially deadly accident. I believe the check engine light and the battery light were both illuminated after it stalled. The vehicle started properly after I put the vehicle into park and restarted the engine. Ford must address this potentially fatal problem with it's engine design.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they advised the contact that the computer was reading an error and the valve assembly failed, which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 47,000. Kmj.
Vehicle was running rough at idle and check engine light was on. At stop lights, stop signs, or any idle time car would buck forward like it was going to stall.
Turned onto my street on my way home from work and all of a sudden couldn't give the car any gas. Notice wrench light came on. Coasted into driveway turned car off-waited a few and turned back on. No light and car seemed fine. Next day took car out and just after getting on highway car did the same thing this time the check engine light came on as well. Turned off and on and wrench light went off but engine light stayed on. Drove directly to dealership. Was told it was the throttle body got stuck and was being replaced. Very dangerous when driving on busy roads!.
While driving the wrench light came on and the car just died, had to pull over, the 2nd time I was going on a busy interstate and going about 70 mph I was lucky there was a place to pull off the road, but then the check engine light came on, and stayed on for the entire trip. When I arrived home and shut the car off and started it again the light was off. I looked into this since I have elderly people I take to and from dr. Visits and this seems to be an ongoing problem since 2005 , I have read the complaints on line, my question is does someone have to be in a bad accident or even die before Ford will resolve this problem?.
Small surges just after stops. Total loss of power at highway speeds. July 2012 showed the check engine light, and had to coast to side of the road, gas pedal totally dead, engine and car still running. Turn off and restart and all check engine lights go away and car acts normally. Dealership found no codes. June 2013 again total loss of power at highway speeds, this time powertrain light comes on, and the car has to coast to the side of the road, gas pedal totally dead, engine and car still running. Turn off and restart and all powertrain lights go away and car acts normally. This loss of power has happened 15-20 times to date from July 2012 to July 2013.
