I have only owned my pre-owned vehicle for 3 years and have had to replace driver side front bearing 2x's, rear wiper motor twice and now vehicle will stall while in motion and at stops for traffic lights. I have always driven Fords and feel that this is something with the assembly line because I learned of another from the same assembly line that had the same problems.
My 2011 Ford Escape XLT 2. 5l is stalling while driving, stopped, turning. The rpm's are jumpy. Car stalls with foot on the gas in mid drive! replaced the canister purge valve as diagnosed. Not the fix.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 62 mph with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stopped, turned off, and restarted the vehicle for it to operate normally. The vehicle was repaired by an independent mechanic, but the failure recurred. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was 150,000.
Started car up in driveway and engine revived (rpm's went way up) just for a few seconds. Drove to destination pulled into parking stall as I applied the brakes, the engine revived up again and I was unable to stop, even while applying the brakes, the vehicle lunged forward over the parking block. The vehicle then stopped just short of hitting a tree.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. While driving 70 mph, the service engine soon warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,425.
Car keeps stalling. While accelerating as well as at freeway speed (on streets and on the freeway). The obd-ii reader says its code p2111 which is for the throttle body. Got it leaned immediately after stall. Immediately after picking it up from the shop, it stalled again, showing the same code on the reader. Upon further research these seem to be defective on many Ford Escapes of this year.
Issues with bogging down and stalling. Throttle body was replaced, due to diagnosis and "electronic throttle body extended coverage" - I would like to ask why there isn't a 100,000 warranty on the new throttle body, not just 3yr/36,000. Please contact me.
Stalling out in traffic speeding up for no reason. All symptoms point to throttle body exactly what they described to me at my local dealer! but told me they will not fix it until it sets a code !!!!!!!!!!! in the mean time I am afraid I will get hurt because it has stalled in traffic . I am really concerened for my safety.
Traveling home on route 1 north, massachusetts in traffic about 20mph car began to stall and sputter and wrench light came on. Brought car to auto parts store for free diagnostic immediately and inspection showed "power train issue" (are you kidding me? just purchased this used car 3 months ago!) next day, same thing happened twice. Called the dealer who sold the car to me cannot inspect the car for two weeks. This is unacceptable. Ford admits there is an issue with the electronic throttle body (etb) but has not recalled the vehicles.
As I was driving at 50-55 miles an hour my vehicle bucked and lost power and when accelerating it feels as if the car is going to stall. When starting up from a complete stop the car will hesitate when trying to accelerate and bucks.
Was driving through town, vehicle revved up and then stalled. Stopped vehicle, turned off, and restarted. Started up without an issue. 3 days later, while driving to work, vehicles wrench indicator light came on and vehicle lost power. Restarted okay. As the week progressed, vehicle started losing power several times during my 20 mile trip to work and back, 40 miles round trip. Then on 7/7/15, vehicle lost power 4 times on my way home, the second time it lost power the engine indicator light came on and stayed on. It also took longer to restart the vehicle. Checked computer for code. Code states p 2112, tac system stuck shut. Looked up this code and info, and it seems to be related to the throttle body. I found something that states there was a recall on this part, but I was never notified of this. I would like to get this problem fixed so I can drive my vehicle. I'm nervous about driving it as I have poor signal on my cell phone between home and work and dont want to be stranded. Please help me in anyway you can.
Entered left turn lane to approach off ramp, truck stalled. Appx 40mph. Turned off and restarted, drove home. Had noticed jumping response from idle to reverse to drive, particularly upon first ignition of day, for about a week. Have contacted dealership for repair of noted throttle body issue, which is scheduled for 1 week from today.
The Ford Escape has been randomly stalling at times while driving. I am forced to either pull off to the side of the road or quickly turn off my car and turn it back on again in the middle of the road.
Vehicle stalled during mild acceleration after an abrupt and jerky shift transition. Lost engine power but accesories remained on and the wrench indicator lamp turned on. Normal operation of vehicle was restored after turning ignition key off and restarting the vehicle.
I have had this vehicle for one year, and it would be impossible to recount all of the times it has stalled on me while driving it. It has stalled in parking lots, in heavy stop-and-go traffic, making turns, pulling into my driveway, and accelerating to enter the freeway. It started within two months of purchase. I took it to a Ford dealership in August of 2014 where they performed recall work which included throttle body replacement, reprogrammed the pcm, and a power steering advisory item. The vehicle continued to stall. The stalling seems to happen just after fill-up and happens intermittently until the gas gauge reads less than three-fourths and at low speeds. I filled it up yesterday, and it has stalled seven times since then. It happens when coasting to a stop or making a turn. On the freeway at high speeds, it runs well. The issue was compounded in February when it was discovered that the evap canister was full of gas. It, along with a tube hose assembly (bl8z9d667b-af), was replaced only for it to happen again. The purge valve was stuck open and had to be replaced along with a second evap canister. The stalling issue continued, and the dealership found the canister to be saturated with gas again. This time, they said they would have to replace the gas tank to correct the issue as they believe it is a valve built into the tank which seems absurd. I have not done this since they quoted a cost of over $2000. Even if I have that done, it will only correct the canister issue, not the stalling. I have read hundreds of posts on the internet from people who have the exact same problems with the same model year as I have. These are both issues that I believe to be the result of a defect in the manufacturing of this vehicle due to the volume of owners who are experiencing the same problems. I feel Ford needs to step up and correct these issues.
While driving down the street at 40 mph my car stalled and stopped running. There were other cars behind me. I had to coast off the road and restart my vehicle.
My daughter was driving, and had pulled from a stop sign. The vehicle seemed to stall, and she had no control- no brakes, no throttle, the emergency brake didn't stop her, and she finally pushed it into park and that did nothing. It rolled to a stop, although the engine seemed to be running. She turned off the engine, and after a few minutes, restarted it. It restarted, and she proceeded to drive to her destinations which was closeby. Very scary, but fortunately, no other real traffic, but this could have been tragic.
While trying to accelerate to enter merging highway, my 2011 Ford Escape took many seconds to stall and then finally engage. My son asked why does this always happen, and its not safe to drive not knowing when entering the traffic, that you will not know if the car is going to make it in the traffic. I drove far and quite a bit yesterday and it happened 3 times. I am taking the car in next week, even though the dealer thinks nothing is wrong.
This happened twice and I've only had the car 3 months. It' stalls when I'm driving. I had to stop the car on the george washington bridge in NY/NJ. Turn off the engine and start again. This was extremely dangerous and terrifying to go through!! today there was smoke coming through the front engine. Please advise me.
Nhtsa action number - dp12006 vehicle stalls going 65 mph. Issue is not covered under the 100,000 mile warranty why???? why has there not been a recall on this issue??????.
I was on the freeway on my 2011 Ford Escape the 4th lane when the car made a sudden noise of loss of power and my dashboard lights when dimmer. . . The power of my car was diminishing and it felt as if the car engine was going to die on me. . . Scary. . . I felt my heart drop to my stomach. . . Looked left and had cars coming on the contiguous lane so I could not move to the emergency lane/shoulder, looked right and fortunately no cars were coming immediately (my steering was still ok ) other cars were far away so I moved to my right 3 lanes and even though the car felt that it was going to stop I continued with the momentum it had. I was able to get off the freeway since there was an exit as I moved the 3 lanes. Very scary experience. The car sort of stalled at the corner but I was in a safe spot. I called the dealership immediately to ask for the roadside assistance number and the service department person asked me if I turned the car off would it start again? the car did start again as if nothing had happened. Really crazy! when the dealership checked it they diagnosed faulty throttle body, they fixed it apparently but now I am driving on the slow lane all the time unless I am passing because I have fears it might happen again. I lived a very scary situation.
My vehicle stalled twice yesterday while going though busy intersections and the wrench light came on. I would pull over at a super slow speed and then turn the car off and back on. Finding this rare for a well maintained 2 year old vehicle, I looked up "escape stalling" on google and found a plethora of complaints. I took it to the dealer today and mentioned what was happening with the car and what I had seen on the internet and he didn't give any credence to it. I am still waiting for a diagnosis and hope the problem can be repaired. Luckily there was no one behind me either time. . . But this could have easily been a very nasty accident because there is no warning that the car is going to stall. Notes: I purchased the vehicle in NJ February 2011.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the contact was awaiting diagnosis of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure and current mileage was 40,000.
I was driving 35-40 mph when all of the sudden my car started to slow down. I did not know what was happening at the time and I kept pressing the gas pedal but the car continued to slow. Before the car stopped, I pulled over to the side of the road, placed the car in park, turned it off, and opened my car door. Then I turned my car on again and was able to drive to the place I was going in about 7 min. I stayed at that place for around 30 min and then got in my car again where 2 min after I started driving, the car stalled again. I pulled over, turned the car off, and opened the driver's door. Then I turned the car back on and preceded to drive home (about a ten minute car ride).
I was driving along at about 50mph and I completely lost power to my 2011 Escape. The accelerator did not function and would not rev the engine. I tried putting it in neutral and restarting with no success. The engine was still running but I had no power. I pulled off the road and turned off the engine. A couple of minutes later I tried to restart it so I could wait in a better location and the car started. I was able to drive to my destination but in going home the car stalled again. Again I had to turn off the engine in order to restart. I took it into the dealership the next morning and they had to replace the throttle at a cost of $505. 00.
While driving my 2011 Ford Escape suddenly lost all power (almost felt like a stall) and the wrench light on the dash was illuminated. I pulled to the side of the road, turned it off, and after turning the vehicle back on it operated as normal. This has happened three times over the past week.
While driving my family in our 2011 Ford Escape at 65mph on an interstate - I suddenly experienced a total loss of power. The engine did not quit - but rather decelerated rapidly to idle speed. I immediately pulled over to the side of the highway and attempted to rev the engine and shift the transmission into park, and then back into drive - with no result. I turned the vehicle off and waited 1 minute, to see if it could possibly be a computer problem. I started the car, revved the engine, shifted into drive and proceeded at normal speed. The following day this same thing happened to my wife on another highway. I called a Ford dealer and a trustworthy repair shop - and they both pointed to the throttle body assembly in the fuel system - which seems to be a common problem. I had a new throttle body installed after a Ford dealer hooked up diagnostic equipment and verified the issue. Repair cost was $513. 68 parts and labor. I feel that this is a very dangerous condition - and a recall of the vehicles equipped with this part, should be happen immediately. I have read many other accounts on the internet of this exact condition. It is just a mater of time before a failure like this will occur - and a following vehicle - perhaps a semi-truck will not be able to stop in time causing a very serious injury or fatality. Luckily my wife and I were in light traffic on the freeway.
Purchased a preowned Ford Escape in March 2013. Had approximately 28,000 miles. Drove fine until July 8 2013. About 1/2 mile from home, driving on residential road at approximately 30 mph, the Escape stalled and wrench light came on. Turned car off and restarted fine. Drove for approximately 1/4 mile and stalled again. Turned car off again and restarted, then drove approximately 1/4 mile home and parked in garage. Checked oil, and level was fine. Called local Ford dealer and let them know what the problem was. They suggested I drive it in so they can take a look at it. Told them I was uncomfortable driving it the 5 miles to the dealer. Called Ford roadside assistance to have it towed to the dealer. Waiting to hear what the dealer has to say.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted after a few minutes and operated as designed. The vehicle was scheduled to be inspected by a dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 43,600. Kmj.
Vehicle went into stall while traveling off of exit ramp. Have read that this is being investigated and needs to be recalled! dangerous and felt unsafe with my child in vehicle! if this happened at a high speed on hwy, it could lead to a crash and injury or even death!.
Vehicle began to stall at highway speed with no throttle response. Coasted vehicle to a stop and turned off the engine. Continued down the road as it stalled two more times to the nearest dealer. They scanned and gave us code p2111 tech said that we needed a throttle bottle and it was on a nationwide back order. Tech also said there were 3 other vehicles on the lot waiting for the same part. Tried to order part and they wanted cash up front, it should be covered under warranty.
I was traveling at approximately 60mh when my Ford Escape completely stalled and s service light came on. As I tried to move out of traffic I was nearly hit by multiple vehicles coming from both directions. I had the vehicle towed to the Ford dealership assuming this would be covered under power train warranty. After explaining to the service department what had happened, before they looked at my vehicle, they knew exactly what it was. Apparently, the problem with the throttle body is so common they can't keep the parts in stock. This problem causes the vehicle to stall or surge forward, usually at rates of speed exceeding 40mph. I was informed that Ford does not consider this part of the power train. $401. 04 later I had my vehicle back. As I was paying the service cashier informed me that this was the 12th that had fixed that week (it was only Wednesday) and to hold onto my receipt because it really should be recalled.
Vehicle has stalled on me on 5 different times. Always during a turn at slow speeds. I have had to put the vehicle in neutral and restart it. The last time it happened, was on June 5th. There was a car behind me and I was able to avoid it hitting me. I reported this to my Ford dealership and they checked the vehicle out and could not find any problems. I also notice that at times when I am trying to accelerate that the car will kind of jerk or surge, almost like it's trying to get fuel to the engine.
As I was driving, my vehicle with no warning lost power. The engine was still running, but roughly. I could press the accelerator, but it no longer caused the vehicle to accelerate. After waiting for help to arrive, I shut the vehicle off and then tried to restart. The vehicle started fine. I took it to a mechanic who thought the throttle box may be bad. I paid to have it cleaned out and for a gas additive to decrease the likelihood that it would happen again. A couple of days later, my Escape stalled again in the same way and with the same results. It has happened 3 times now since may 2nd. I realize there is an investigation into the failure of the throttle body in Ford Escapes including the 2011 model. What is described in the throttle body failure situations is exactly what I am experiencing with my vehicle. I have been fortunate to be in curb lanes and able to manuever safely off the road each of the times this has happened. If I happen to be in a center highway lane when it happens, I may not be fortunate enough to have an opportunity to restart my vehicle safely.
Driving at freeway speed when engine lost all power. Unable to accelerate. Engine light and wrench light came on. Was able to pull to the side of the road. Restarted vehicle and proceeded back on to freeway. Incident repeated 5 times in 10 miles of driving. Finally located a Ford dealership. Computer code indicated faulty throttle body. Unable to repair same day because dealership did not have the part. Called 7 different dealerships within a 200 mil radius and advised no one had the part in stock. Appears this is a popular problem. Finally found the part the following day and dealer installed. No problems since. Was forced to drive the vehicle until the part arrived as I was out of town on business when this occurred. The loss of acceleration resulted in dangerous situations. I experienced this not only at highway speed but also when trying to enter the freeway. I was almost hit twice.
