Power Steering Failed problems of the 2011 Ford Escape

Steering malfunctioned while I was driving. My safety was at risk because I was driving it. No dealer has not seen car yet had to make an appt for later date due to availability. When power steering failed led message came up at the same time so there was no prior warning.

The power steering assist failed on my 2011 Ford Escape. Stationary when happened. So, frustrated that I cant steer it and have two kids I need to tote around but its very unsafe and I cant drive it with my kids in the car for safety concerns. Also my fuel intake failed and a warning light is on for it. I read that both of these exact issues have been recalled on this model. Please help.

The power steering has failed multiple times. It seems to happen whenever I take a heavy u-turn. The power steering goes out and ai have no control over my steering. According to dealerships the power steering is computerized, so is quite costly to fix. But this is a major safety hazard when driving. This has happened on city streets only when making u-turns.

Power steering failures related to electrical power steering column. It cuts out intermittently and has failed while driving. Restarting the car sometimes fixes issue. Ford has stated other 2011 Ford Escapes have a recall for the power steering system- this vehicle is not recalled.

The last two times I've driven the vehicle, the power steering has failed intermittently. . When it fails, the car becomes very difficult to steer. Failed and returned 4 times in a 3 mile trip. Twice while going straight at 35mph and twice while turning at 10mph or less.

Driving to an appointment started into a curve in road when power steering failed in vehicle. Could barely control vehicle to get off of road. No warning, noises or lights came on. Very scary. Checked for recalls and was told my vehicle VIN number is not included but the year and model do have a recall on steering problems.

Power steering failure. (there is a recall for this vehicle, however Ford is not honoring my specific vehicle, yet the same failure is occuring with my vehicle.

While on highway traveling to chicago, my vehicle power steering failed. I could not turn the wheel without great difficulty. The power steering is electrical so cannot drive without power steering. Had to leave car stranded in springfield, illinois at landmark Ford and pay $50 per day for rental. It is a safety recall 14s05 and has failed in hundreds of thousands of cars in the us and canada. According to the recall information online and my calls to dealerships; my car's recall updated the software to let me know the power steering would fail. They did not replace the torque sensor which is the item that failed on the highway and made my car not operational. If your torque sensor failed prior it was replaced by Ford under the recall - if it hadn't failed by the time of the software update the recall was closed out. I have found all this out today before my car has been fixed. So Ford will not fix my torque sensor and the cost is $617 plus the rental car at $50 per day. (my car failed 5 hours from home) - I have to go pick it up when it is fixed. Since it was a safety recall and the torque sensor had not been previously replaced, and Ford knew this was a problem with 1. 1 million cars, why should I have to pay for a failed faulty part? my car only has 74,000 miles and is well maintained. The car was not involved in an accident but could have been very easily. However, the car was stranded 275 miles from home and Ford will not fix the faulty part. It is a safety issue and I am very unhappy. The torque sensor, steering column or whatever parts make this car unsafe should have been taken care of under the recall. Ford needs to do the right thing. There could have been an accident and loss of lives. This is unacceptable.

2011 Ford Escape XLT 3. 0l experienced power steering failure while operating the vehicle and in motion twice in past 12 months. Vehicle was operated on a city street and both instances were spontaneous. Vehicle was stopped, shut down and restarted after 10 minutes. Power steering resumed without further incident both times.

Power steering keeps failing. Would go out anytime, turning, traveling down freeway , street, anywhere . Never kow when it would happen. Would pull over, turn off car then start it up again. And it would work again it started in may and Ford said it had problems with the steering on 2011 Ford Escapes but because my car was not made in kansas city it wasnt included in the recall.

We purchased a used 2011 Ford Escape on Jan 17,2017. After leaving the dealership and driving home, the power steering failed while backing out of a driveway. We turned the vehicle off, and restarted it. The power steering was functioning again. As we turned the corner on my street, the power steering failed again, causing the vehicle my daughter was driving to go straight toward a light pole on the corner. We stopped the vehicle and we were able to force the steering manually to turn into our driveway. Electric power assisted steering system failed while driving on the highway, it failed as I was turning a corner. No power steering available. Had it towed to the kendall Ford in eugene or. They they would have to replace the whole unit, this unit has previously failed 3 times on other vehicle of my type. The total repair cost is $1,400. 00 my car only has 58,000 miles on it, I think Ford needs to stand behind their product, especially when this has been an ongoing problem (3times) on cars like mine,.

I have been in two minor accidents as a direct result of the power steering failing while drive. The steering fails once a day and does so, usually when make a hard or sharp turn. Once, the power steering disengaged, reverting to manuel, while I was traveling on the highway at 65 mph! Ford refused to repair the defective stealing after more than 10 contacts with their corporate office and multiple Ford dealers. They referred me to their �legal department� and refused to replace the defective steering.
